- DJJensaarai, on 02/11/2009, -2/+44Nice...here's a Mario Bro's one I saw the other day:
http://video.yahoo.com/watch/1446863/4960028 - memper, on 02/11/2009, -3/+43The RIAA called. They want their electricity back.
- inactive, on 02/11/2009, -2/+24*nerdgasm*

- Shadowfox99, on 02/11/2009, -0/+13and when some punk kid eggs my house it can electrocute him like the Emperor..
- maximilen, on 02/11/2009, -10/+23Holy hell! The title sucks for how cool this ***** is!
- drizzlelicious, on 02/11/2009, -3/+15How does it work?
- kevinsboy, on 02/11/2009, -0/+11I don't understand who would digg this down?
- DumbMuscle, on 02/12/2009, -0/+10Where the sparks hit has nothing to do with the note, the sound is created by the air around the spark, not the pole it discharges on to. Switching the spark at 50hz will create a 50hz tone, 1kHz for a 1khz tone etc. Where the arcs go is pretty much random (depends on air currents between the coil and the spike)
- deathmatch, on 02/11/2009, -0/+9Is there anything the Tesla coil can't do?
- wicketr, on 02/11/2009, -1/+10Yup the title needed to end in "OMG!!!1!"
- spriggig, on 02/11/2009, -2/+10I want this for my halloween display.
- kaoitik, on 02/11/2009, -0/+8I jizzed in my pants.
- fightingforair, on 02/11/2009, -1/+8"Lets make some noise for the Tesla coil!" Quite a nerdtacular thing to say.
- CrazySpaniard, on 02/11/2009, -1/+7I came.
- Bidofthis, on 02/11/2009, -0/+5http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VX5V_9s0Gfw&fea ...
- Sornos, on 02/11/2009, -1/+6The arcs are making the sound. Not the drums in this case I think.
- nicodemus26, on 02/12/2009, -0/+5The sparks you see are channels of super-heated gas (plasma at the core.) The expansion of this gas is what makes the noise. Normally you would hear a single pop (aka thunder for really big sparks called lighting,) but in this case the current is being pulsed so that waves of the desired frequency are produced.
- CrazySpaniard, on 02/11/2009, -0/+5http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tesla_Coil
- PixelPusher74, on 02/11/2009, -4/+8Finally! Proof that the force really works! Now you will feel the true power of the Dark Side! (maniacal laughter ensues... and Bush gets re-elected somehow)
- Brizzyce, on 02/11/2009, -0/+4That's got to be one of the coolest things I've ever seen/heard in my life.
- andre321, on 02/11/2009, -0/+4***** you.
- kingofnexus, on 02/12/2009, -0/+4That was many times better than the imperial march
- RSS14, on 02/11/2009, -0/+4Yeah, I feel pretty bad for him.
The most I can do now is remember his genius. - Happysin, on 02/12/2009, -0/+4Here's the playlist from Dragon*Con 2008, in HD. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTeWjdxMkb4&fea ...
- inactive, on 02/11/2009, -0/+3Not impressed until I hear/see it playing Flight of the Bumblebees.
- jgubbe, on 02/12/2009, -0/+3***** THE RIAA!
- flangepiece, on 02/12/2009, -0/+3Dude, if you don't know about the magical tesla elves, you don't deserve a digg account.
- QsheiK, on 02/11/2009, -0/+3Nerdgasm to the power of nerd.
- IWDA4, on 02/11/2009, -1/+3I feel like music played on a tesla coil is becoming the new HDR Photography;
It's been done so much already that it's no longer original or something new, it's still pretty cool, and still always makes the front page. - NightSkyWatcher, on 02/12/2009, -0/+2I heard.
- BlackOculus, on 02/11/2009, -2/+4Too bad the other one didn't work.
- DyceFreak, on 02/12/2009, -0/+2LETS MAKE SOME NOISE FOR THE TESLA COIL!
- Mawds, on 02/12/2009, -1/+3I saw.
- oyflaaaayvin, on 02/11/2009, -0/+2Is the tesla coil making those tones or is music being played through the tesla coil and it's just visually reacting to the sound?
- petard, on 02/12/2009, -0/+2Now for the Hell March?
- mastertop, on 02/11/2009, -2/+4Why are some people even digging you down??? I guess that's what Digg became...
- inactive, on 02/12/2009, -0/+2Which head?
- ThermiteTerrace, on 02/11/2009, -0/+2I hope that there's at least a line of tanks out in front of it to provide primary defenses, and that enough power-plants have been built.
- Mpwns, on 02/12/2009, -0/+2stuff like this makes me proud I'm a geek.
- bbardlbradd, on 02/11/2009, -0/+2Great... I looked it up. I think in my case it is so adhesive because it's something I haven't heard for years... I felt like I was 10 again.
- palehorse864, on 02/12/2009, -0/+2Darth Vader promptly picked the coil up over his head and tossed it down a reactor chute.
- jasdf, on 02/12/2009, -0/+2This is essentially controlled thunder.
- Parsecironclad, on 02/12/2009, -0/+1This is Parsec, I am the dude getting the crowd to cheer for the "inanimate" objects. Believe it or not, and I tell lots of our audiences this, is that Tesla coils don't just run on 220 2 phase power! They run on love. The hours of love that Joe and Oliver (our technical geniuses that came up with this wild idea) have put into these machines is only explainable to me by love. What you guys are looking at in this little vid does not even scratch the surface of the cool we have planned.
- Mawds, on 02/12/2009, -0/+1I know
- PsychTouch, on 02/12/2009, -0/+1Make some noise for the Tesla coil is the best part :D
- MacHarborGuy, on 02/12/2009, -0/+1yeah, i was kind of expecting to see them alternating near the end. still the best thing you'll see all year when it comes to geeky fanboy stuff that everyone can enjoy :D
