- rileyhallwood, on 03/27/2009, -0/+12you can also duct tape up some 3 ring binders one on top of the other until the slope is as steep as you like, and tape down a HB pencil at the bottom so it doesnt slide off. its pretty good if you still need to use the keyboard. not nearly as pretty but WHO NEEDS PRETTY AMIRITE
- Allstarn08, on 03/27/2009, -0/+8Very nice. The Ikea one with Plexiglas actually looks better than 60% of the stands out there.
- mynameistux, on 03/27/2009, -0/+6I need to buy one with a fan, around 15 bucks, and, with a fan. (my laptop overheats a fair bit)
- Grummond, on 03/28/2009, -2/+7Laptops need stands?
- asgardshill, on 03/27/2009, -0/+4I used one of those $20 plastic laptop stands advertised on TV up until about 3 months ago when it broke. And no glue I tried would stick to the plastic they used to make the thing. If you get one, it'll last you maybe a year before it too crumbles into dust.
- invader, on 03/28/2009, -0/+3These are really cool. The Closet Entrepreneur is actually an awesome blog. It's one of those diamonds in the rough!
- dazparkour, on 03/28/2009, -0/+3I don't think these people are the target audience for a laptop.
I've not seen many laptops that don't come with a trackerpad/keyboard - why buy one if you plan not to use that part of it, especially, since PC's tend to be cheaper? - inactive, on 03/28/2009, -2/+5Actually laptop stands are very handy when the machine is used for a secondary or monitoring purpose, or to clear desk space for a keyboard. the cardboard one kind of defeats that purpose.
i didnt know things like this could be on digg, maybe i ought to put up my carbon fiber TP holder made from a racing bike fork.

- stillasleep00, on 03/28/2009, -0/+2That's what i'm using, with a hole punched into the spine of the binder so as to hide the cords. Works out pretty nice.
- Antialias, on 03/28/2009, -0/+2Most people don't use the laptop keyboard/trackpad at a desk(at least from people I know and most setups I've seen online). They hook up a keyboard, external mouse and often a 2nd monitor. The stand allows the laptop screen to be at a height where you don't get neck strain and it lines up with the 2nd monitor.
- mogebier, on 03/28/2009, -0/+2I just go to office supply store inventory clearance sales every season.
The laptop stand I am using is metal and even has rubber places for the cords and I got it for $1 - markstory, on 03/28/2009, -0/+2Dugg for the elastic band handsfree set.
- famousdave, on 03/28/2009, -0/+2I would like to see how he made the iphone holder
- ph3rny, on 03/28/2009, -0/+2lol
I used Home Depot paint sticks nailed together, and then I used a chisel to carve out foot-holdings for the laptop so it stays in place
works really well and still allows the laptop to circulate air and keep cool - dralezero, on 03/28/2009, -0/+2Isn't it better to look down slightly to your screen? When you look up it opens your eyes more. Also, at least for me, when the laptop isn't there, there is a silly stand in taking up desk space and I have to fiddle with that.
- doshindude, on 03/28/2009, -0/+2Awesome, I'm gonna make a cardboard stand for my MSI Wind now.
- drksun, on 03/28/2009, -1/+3I found this on ebay for $10, i use it for holding up my laptop over my mixer.. http://cgi.ebay.com/Pro-Portable-Computer-Laptop-S ...
- ATL, on 06/20/2009, -1/+3I noticed they are all macs.
I guess after paying top dollar for their laptops, these people couldn't afford actual laptop stands. - triple110, on 03/28/2009, -0/+2The image of the phone rubber banded to his head reminds me of my ghetto headset made from a cellphone mic and a couple of strands from cat5 cable
- Chompy, on 03/28/2009, -0/+2Two milk crates and an unused, folded-over pizza box. Price: $0.
- mikedoth, on 03/28/2009, -0/+2Check out instructables.com for a ton of similar ones.

Edit: Urgonomic?
Wouldn't you kill your wrists sitting at a desk with one of those?! - Hollyvvood, on 03/28/2009, -2/+3I just paid for a stand. Probably paid way to much, but that's what plus loans are for I guess.
- deckbuster, on 03/28/2009, -1/+2i use three hockey pucks
- Neltom, on 03/28/2009, -2/+3Doesn't a laptop go on your lap?
