- fino35, on 10/12/2007, -0/+31one step closer to XBMC on the 360!
- burke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+30link: http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox1data/sep/EEVEuFZkFViKlLFEvr.php
- starkey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+26Looks like the real deal to me. There have been post by both the avalaunch and Xecuter teams that this is real and it seems to be based on xbox emulation. This is exactly the route I expected the 360 to take, as I assumed there would be a falt in the emulation providing a backdoor. Didn't see the firmware hack though, that came form nowhere.
- culbeda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24"my xbox can do the same thing only a little bit cheaper"
While XMBC rocks, imaging what the developers will be able to do the increased processing power and USB 2.0 support. - xerox, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21team-xecuter confirming doesn't do it for you?
- NerdENerd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17Neither XBMC or Avalunch are are games. They are both very usefully applications which extend the functionality of your Xbox. Most of my friends who have Xboxes don't play games on them, they use them as a Media Centers.
- whiteghetto, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19wow, might be time to get an xbox360
- FreddieD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16True the XBMC does rock on the original Xbox, but the processor limits are getting pressed and there are a number of things that they can't currently do with the Celeron 733 and 64 megs of RAM. Imagine this thing on a triple core 3.2Ghz and 512MB RAM! My god there is nothing that couldn't be done with it.
- posure, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14This mod is internal, Llamma's mod is USB.
- burke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12AFAIK, the 360 is more bang for your buck than you can get for the same price in a desktop.
- Agret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11"Far from proof but its be cool if it was true."
If xbox scene, team xecuter and avalaunch all claim it's true then it's the real deal, how is it far from proof?
" it seems suspicious that a new skin for XBMC was released that looks exactly like that..."
You can't keep XBMC running while on another app... - wolrah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Sorry, XBMC360 is *gasp* a XBMC skin. The original Xbox does not support multitasking, so XBMC can't be running in the background with Avalaunch or Surreal64 in the foreground.
- Vision77, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I can't wait until the 360 is totally cracked. That's when I will buy a 360.
- Terc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8@cmiz
No, I can verify for a fact that these are NOT MC360 screenshots based on my own comparison of differences in details between the MC30 skin (I have it installed) and the real xbox 360 dash - bkdb9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8No, not with surreal and avalaunch running.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9SD card on the Wii. 2gb for $74. Problem Solved.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9It did. The "article" is the xecuter confirmation.
- latour, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7The only reason I would want to modify my xbox 360 now is because I dont want to replace windows xp and buy windows media center edition to watch movies on MY xbox360 that i just paid 500$ for. On top of that it doesnt play Divx (most of my movies are Divx).
- chimona, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8He just meant something similar, jerk
- xerox, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10so you want XBOX media center on the Wii? right....
- pegisys, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7and it can't be used for save games and downloads
if the HDD can be upgraded without any hacks that would be great, then I can save all the demos and videos as long as I want - geminitojanus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6"Imagine this thing on a triple core 3.2Ghz"
Good luck writing code for the beast, it's an in-order processor on the PPC archetecture; while existing code by definition will run (PPC Linux), it won't be fast at all as Linux has spent many years being optimized for OOO processors.
But, it would be a lot of fun working with it ;) - NerdENerd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Only if you have a wireless controller. Wired controllers don't have a turn off option.
- billflu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Amazing, I've been keeping an eye on the Xecuter site for a while now.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Uhhhh, nothing would happen besides a diagnostic message. Flashed firmware does not mean unsigned code.
- DarkSenay, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5XBMC on the 360 is important because it has the processing power to play those up and coming x264 encodes of HD movies from your favorite scene release group!
- Agret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"I guess I'll have to wait until we get more proof than just those pics & "Reliable anonymous sources"
Team avalaunch and team x-ecuter aren't proof enough for you? - culbeda, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8"I'm waiting for xbmc to run on the Wii "
That will be tough without a hard drive. I doubt the ROM will be large enough to hold an install of XBMC. ;-) - grimeygutter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Because it allowed cheating. I quit playing Mech Assault for this very reason. Its fun playing online against someone you cant kill...oh wait, no it isn't.
- Ahnteis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5512MB flash memory, USB hard drives allowed. :)
- jull1234, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Today will be...our Independance Day.
- drakethegreat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4We know its internal how?
- Nezzari, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9http://www.llamma.com/xbox360/mods/USB%20Hard%20Drive%20Mod.htm
A bigger HD isn't that big of a deal... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4"That is the dumbest site I have seen in some time. Did anybody look at those screenshots at "Black Bolt Team".... I could have done better fakes using MS PAINT."
Are you an idiot, those are screenshots of XBMC360(skin for xbmc on regular xbox that makes it look like a 360 gui). - Kinsbane, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Yes because WGA (which Microsoft now provides instructions to disable phoning home for that) has ***** to do with the 360.
Good deduction skills, there. - xerox, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5you know you can reply directly to his comment with the handy dandy "reply" button right?
- tiuk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I love the people who say "Oh, that looks like XBMC360", because they're clearly showing that they've never used XBMC, nor do they know that the original xbox can't run more than one process at a time.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2provide some proof?
- eschompthis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3xbox 360 without live is xbox 180, if this removes live then i will never modd my 360, i dont feel like dealing with ***** kaid again
- KissTheRing, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Wooo Hooo! Now can somebody go ahead and develop Xvid, DivX, H.264, AC3, A52 codecs for the sure to come Xbox360 Media Center. Hey while your at it, how about a nice DVD ripper / 2 pass video encoder.
- PacoDG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yes, finally a Rare game worthy of play my 360.
Goldeneye (N64) > Time Splitters (Xbox/PS2/Gamecube) > Perfect Dark (on N64) > R.C. Pro Am (Nes) > Perfect Dark (on Xbox360) - soda0289, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think they are using the emulator torun the homebrew code so they would not need to write PPC code at all they would simply need the old xbox x86 code. This is why they can run Avalaunch.
- SteaminTmann, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I managed to get my hands on one from the first batches of 360s. From what I've noticed, these are always easier to hack than the later releases, at least this was the case w/ the old Xboxes. Call it an 'investment'.
- FJcruiser117, on 11/25/2007, -0/+1What I want to see....
1. I want game back ups on the hard drive for 360 and xbox one.
2. I want multiple adio and video formats for the meia player
3. I want the ability to turn off the mod at any given point and play on live.
4. I want extensive customazation options
5. I want it to be cheap! - Jayeveryday, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4I gotta disagree. Most of the people I know that are hard core gamers used there modded xbox more as a media center to stream and play movies. Also most of them had to xbox's and multiple xbox live accounts. Live is what makes xbox so effective sure you can copy a game and play offline but that stinks.
- bennyboy371, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thats impressive... my mind screams 360 now.
- JeffD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hey, i know it wasnt your purpose, but thanks for the link. Im going to go install that on my original xbox.
- edrift101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've seen the firmware hack, which works just fine except for a few game boot issues (gotta toggle the HD and TV switch.) Been waiting for the real hack... I trust Xbox-Scene, so here's to hoping there is more information on the way.
- andreo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think it's a cool hack. But damn, the 360 is still just to expensive for me to go screwing around with it just yet. While I love trying out new hacks I will have to hold out for another year or two before breaking open my console.
- FreddieD, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@kriegs
I wouldn't worry, I'm sure they'll insta-ban anybody on xbox live that plays with a mod chip, so nobody's game experience will be ruined. I'm also pretty sure that even though this is already hacked, it's going to be a long while before we see it in e-stores because they want to make it as future proof as possible from console updates. -
