You could use the program described here to change channels.

qj.net huh? - sjm20k, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Why can't people post written instructions for these things?!?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Why digg spire down? It's an obvious solution to the problem.
- Agret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4British accent

So? Find another guide if you can. Helping != Spamming. - danr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4reminds me of the TV tuner add-on for the Game Gear
- RAT-Man, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I know. That was pretty cool.
- uncleboogie, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7This would be great if I didnt have 3 TV's and a computer at my house.
- rmw132, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I believe this can also be done with Sony's Location Free device.
- Yashar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Hey its NBC 11, he's watching San Francisco / Bay Area news.
- AshTR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3They have. Look up the LocationFree player, dufus. Just a way to make you pay $200 or $100...whatever.
- wbrooks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Lame... you can't change channels from the PSP?
- Bootes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You could be at a coffee shop You would have to have the computer set up ahead of time, and would not be able to change channels.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3If you click the "read more" button there is a link to download the files needed.
http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=0FB4F4523D2083FE - chaosmachine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2doh. just sold my psp yesterday. would have liked to try this out.
- pyrojoe42, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No, and you'd have to have both vlc and tvu player running at basically all times for this to be worthwhile.
It's a cool hack, but not really all that great. I set this up a while ago, thought it was cool, then uninstalled tvu.
It's pretty old... check the post date on youtube. - Ignignokt01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1But you can't change channels from the PSP. You'd have to walk back to your computer and change the channel in that program. Cool, but I'd bet only a few of you would really use it. Probably a lot better for people out of the US.
- slasherx, on 10/12/2007, -8/+9sahaskatta how many times are you going to spam your blog site? your digg history is filled with submissions to that site, and with simple digging on your site you own that blog. http://skattertech.com/author/sahaskatta/
so you're dugg down for spam. - Haroldx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The application he ran only runs on a 1.0/1.5 firmware PSP. You can get a 2.71 or lower and downgrade it, though.
- foolfromhell, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Where do i get PMP VLC? I want that program alone.
Thanks - freehunter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1killagoat, surely you are not suggesting he is spamming his own blog, right? You actually think he owns qj.net, or pspupdates? If you don't know what the hell you are talking about, don't talk, because that is one of the most popular psp hacking sites around, and one of the more useful sites as well.
- tylerman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I keep getting unknown format on my psp when trying to connect :(
- soleblazer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow, thats convenient.
- AltonMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I would like to have a program to do this with the xbox within xbmc.
- tybris, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You know... a Pocket PC can do all this extra stuff a PSP can do way better. What's the point of all of this?
- pcharles23, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the psp is the same reason the zune is going to fail... I will buy a psp when they get down to 99 dollars as a cute toy,
- smojo12, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1OK let me say 1st that I have no knowledge at all about PSP's. My question is does this work just when you are near the computer or could I stream from my computer at home and be at a coffee shop that has wifi and watch TV on my psp?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3sahaskatta got a block for xmas!
- RedFire20, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I think i will get a psp for this.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1*****. That's not for normal PSP. Thats for those "homebrew" freaks.
Inaccurate story. Should be "homebrew" in title. - Derf0293, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is really old news...well probably not old for digg, but I knew about this back in August

assumeing your using a bog standard VLC PSP port to play the streaming content:
no you dont, theres lots of ways to do it, VNC to your server machine, use the standard in-built web server of VLC to start/stop/select etc your content ......
as for this being cool, try streaming with a multicast url of 224.0.0.1:7777 and connect al your player computers to the same stream all at the same time, use VLC or MPC or even Mplayer to connect to that single udp 224.0.0.1@7777 stream.
if you want to go one better you can even use java to control your stream chanel changing....
http://www.jtvlan.org/ to start you on your way, ill not tell you how to do it as its fun to work it out yourself and you might learn something new.
hint you need VLC working as the server, jtvlan as your client front end and http://www.digtv.no-ip.com/webscheduler/ to control your DVB-T (you do have one of these dont you?) cards..... - popper1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0whats so good about this?.....
just use a bog standard VLC port for the PSP and any VLC on any OS platform to multicast that content to the PSP.

"PMP VLC 0.0.9 Player
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
jockyw2001 posted this news/release for the PSP.
First off what is the VLC PLayer:
PMP VLC Player plays mediafiles:
A) from memorystick
* Videos from PSP/VIDEO
* Music from PSP/MUSIC
B) from Optixx' PMP Server via WiFi (requires Python)
C) transcoded and streamed from VLC via WiFi (requires VLC 0.8.5)
Heres the new release info:
This one has AVC hardware video decoding support. Now you can see live TV and DVDs on your psp in high quality. That's 25 frames per second and in full screen (480x272).
ChangeLog
1) added AVC hardware video decoding support for high quality streaming and playback from memstick (requires the also supplied VLC 0.8.5 with x264 support for PSP)
2) scaling does now work correctly (pressing start during playback toggles screen mode if picture resolution < 480x272)
3) pressing right trigger in main menu now really connects to network and the IP address is shown
4) up to 5 video and 5 music directories can be added in pmp.ini
5) network path no longer displayed in filenames, except for the selected entry
6) the supplied VLC 0.8.5 package automatically installs the required pspfiles.html file
7) solved several vlc and net directory buffer issues where there was crap at the end of the listing
8) the supplied VLC 0.8.5 can be used to encode video files, DVDs, live streams, capture device sources etc. to AVC avi files
9) fixed a bug where the previous track in the playlist was played again "
i nitice you need to redo your video again and do it right this time, "this is good" "just read the doc and input that number" and endless other useless sounds.
if your going to go to the trouble to video encode your efforts then at the very least KEEP THE CAMERA STREADY and zoom into the screen so we can read the text......
or at the VERY LEAST tell people the direct URL to goto to read this elusive text and app. - rynoon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Werd

Can I get my PSP with a side of DRM and a rootkit? Maybe Sony could come over and spraypaint "PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD BUY A PSP!" on the side of my house. - bergur1, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Shoot here is something else I found this is a link to a .exe file that does almost all the work for you.
- jasonscuba, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Cool. You can also try to connect to http://www.MyEasyTV.com and watch TV for free from there. There are over 350 channels!
- bergur1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I believe you also need a PSP with either 1.0, 1.5, or custom 2.71 SE-X firmware to be able to do this. PMP is high quality video codec which the PSP can use via homebrew.

http://pspupdates.qj.net/index.php?pg=49&aid=65422 - krikoko, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I better choose http://www.lordoftv.com internet TV guide
- xGORDOx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I agree with one of teh commenst on YouTube, it would have been nice if they explained you need homebrew and linux.
- diafel, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2More indepth details here: http://a2305sdafds.ytmnd.com/
- INTERCEPTOR, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3Good tip.. I've also seen this done with an app called absorb:iq
- Sphinxer, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Horribly video recorded on shaky cam with pictures that are mostly out of focus.. I can't believe anybody will admit to making something as bad as this.
Not to mention that there isn't even a point to filming the computer monitor. Screenshots would have been so much better, and if it had to be filmed a screen capturing program like Fraps could have solved that. - doppler00, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Why doesn't Sony come out with these things first instead of relying on community code? The real innovation in streaming portable media has always been outside of the big corporations.
- zedomax, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2nice dude!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -10/+5i prefer http://www.chooseandwatch.com/ since you dont need to dll and install anything
- magicaltrout, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1fox is a great channel?
