- Kratisto, on 10/10/2007, -1/+41The handle looks badly engineered. With so little protection between your hand and the Diatum power cell, you would surely burn yourself while holding it. Furthermore, the cycling field energizers appear to be badly aligned, which would surely destabilize the entire device. Finally, the focusing crystal is of improper cut to focus the beam to the right width and length, and I would certainly want to be far away the first time it is turned on.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -5/+36Steampunk rocks.
- eMadman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+26$250 for something that took over 100 man-hours? Where does this guy live? Mexico?
- fhernand, on 10/10/2007, -1/+26That's a frigging huge lightsaber.. Almost like a lighttwohandedbastardsword. Or a heavysaber.
(lame, I know, digg me down)
Dugg. - whatthefu, on 10/10/2007, -2/+23Damn I thought he was going to be able to demonstrate it actually working.
- wwwdot1jesdotus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+19Would people quit posting links to mirrors with no images? If you can't deliver the images, don't post.
- eyeats, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13Here is the Brass Goggles article about it, complete with working picture.
http://www.brassgoggles.co.uk/brassgoggles/?p=335 - MOJIRA, on 05/17/2008, -1/+11But you're okay with regular dildos?
- Coven, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steampunk
The internet is your friend. - Ratteler, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Buried as Lame because they used photobucket.
- cocoamix, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Neat idea, but unnecessary. Darth Sidious' Lightsaber already looked quite steampunk:
http://images.google.com/images?&rls=en&q=darth+sidious+lightsaber - kd1s, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10Photobucket blows. They bandwidth throttled it already. What good is steampunk if you can't SEE it.
- ismith, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Dude, Mexicans get more than that. He's definitely confined in some Chinese factory cell.
- Thoric, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Don't we all love photobucket?
- brotherfranciz, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Ah, I almost missed it... scroll down some more - the guy has posted some more photos.
- Pake, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8It's better than cyberpunk IMO.
- Kardall, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6People SERIOUSLY need to stop using photobucket... try using imagepile.net or something... they don't throttle ... honestly...
- TalkingBanana, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Looks like a dildo
- JackSrenton, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4yeah about a minute after I posted that I realized I should just wiki it
ah well. thanks guys - Coucho, on 10/10/2007, -4/+7Oh man, you really are a nerd.
- otatop, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3You know what spamming on Digg gets you? Dugg down and blocked. No one's going to go "Gee, I should check out this dude's site!" just because you put a link after a pointless post. So just shut the ***** up and quit wasting your time.
- bdbr, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4"Bandwidth exceeded" messages are so badass.
- Ramble, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4I don't know about you but I wouldn't want that inside me.
- BevansDesign, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3ZEE GOGGLES, THEY DO NOTHING!
Just kidding. The site works fine. Actually, that would've been funnier if the site was down. - SigmaDraconis, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Um, no ***** it's geeky. What the hell were you expecting from an article on digg with "Lightsaber" in the title?
- edru, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2fanboys making fake light sabers... i believe
- DannyBoy7783, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Sidious' saber looks like a dildo for asian tentacle porn. Not that I know anything about that stuff of course.
- DannyBoy7783, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3or ***** flickr.
- mortaneous, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Wonderful, even the mirrors are Bandwidth exceeded images.
- jedikv, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1There is no steam
- psygnisfive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1It's so true, unfortunately. The same is true of Digg, too. :(
- themastersb, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Another non working mirror..... *
- colouredlights, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Let me just whip one up for a year so that you can seriously consider purchase.
- jedikv, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Dammit I want pictures
- repete, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Photobucket is teh ghey.
- BevansDesign, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Oh yea. ***** Photobucket.
- devate, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Wish I could get to the site.....god damn websense to hell......
- devate, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Photobucket ***** sucks....I say this because I can't view any pic hosted there on my computer at school....God damn excessive restrictions and websense.
- tranzorZ, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1hunter seeker
- CaptainChewie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0It always surprises me when this saber makes a new round of blogs. I got more than a few irritated emails on behalf of various webmasters, and photobucket is PISSED at me. Thanks, guys :-P My brother is glad he has such an enviable lightsaber.
- CaptainChewie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Ok, I upgraded my photobucket account, everything should work now.
- GeneralKickass, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2WTF? He could have at least put in a laser pointer in there.
- Akaramu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Miss it like witches miss salem, the place is disgustingingly cliquey yet one of the few bastions of reasoning on the net. I wish there was another site similar without a hypocritical witch burning like leadership.
- jhuebel, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1At first, I was like, meh. I don't see what's so great about it. But I have to admit it looks pretty sweet on the stand he made (scroll further down in the forums).
- SystemError, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2kinda looks clunky to hold - but the real question is dose it work?
- ryannerd, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1The site is down. Anyone have a mirror?
- Half-Fast, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2Dugg because steampunk is cool as hell and for the guys sig pic at the bottom of the post. General Falcon or Millennium Lee?
- OBKenobi, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Blasphemy!
- MikeonTV, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2Well you would think that Chewbacca would be able to build one right? (congrats to being a captain BTW)
- MOJIRA, on 05/17/2008, -2/+1This is cool, I love steampunk, cyberpunk, biopunk, etc.
I gotta say it would a lot cooler if there was an actual gas fuel source inside (I mean, the thing is huge enough) and maybe those CO2 canisters were triggered by a button that would make a blue flame extend 2 or 3 feet long. Or just stick a setaline torch inside it. -
