- vtwin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17First it's Mario with the suspicious packages, now it's Sonic with a grenade? What's happening to our video-game icons these days!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+15Is this sarcasm? Because it's really annoying when links go to blogs.
- Strongoloid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10"giving you plenty of time to lob it into your roommates space."
Does it also give you plenty of time to find a new roommate? I SUBMIT THAT IT DOES NOT. - aaronlidman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=sonic+grenade
- Braingoo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+121,2, 5, I mean 3
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+16it can be.
- blankman, on 10/12/2007, -8/+16yeah, because damaging people's hearing is really funny
- JohnKappa, on 10/25/2008, -1/+7Bottom of this page
http://imakeprojects.com/projects/sonic-grenades/ - zweben, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Good idea, but that looks way too damn much like an actual grenade. If people call the bomb squad on a damn Mario box, they're sure as hell going to freak out when they see this thing.
And just because all it does after 5 seconds is make a loud noise won't stop people from running and calling the FBI and Homeland Security and the Bomb Squad and filing 10 lawsuits against you. - WESMAN, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7This definately makes my list of things to build.
- RyeBrye, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5140 dB is well beyond the threshold of pain. It would also cause permanent hearing damage.
I guess that would be "way freakin cool" if you wanted to make someone deaf, get your ass handed to you by their lawyer, and spend the rest of your life bankrupt because of your stupid prank... - bloqmon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Then thou must count to three. Three shall be the number of the counting and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither shalt thou count two, excepting that thou then proceedeth to three. Five is right out.
- pairanoyd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Bah, kid stuff.
You want something that will raise the dead?
Go to a truck stop and buy a truckers alarm clock.
It's a box with a countdown timer and two very loud alarms.
They are designed to wake up truckers that have gone days with little sleep.
These things are freaking EVIL... - snorkle256, on 10/12/2007, -9/+11Thank you for posting it as hackaday's instead of directly going to the link. :) makes us hack-a-dayers happy
- livesunkept, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Ok... we need to redo this project with one of those fire alarms from office bulidings, schools, or dorms... that is the type of volume I am looking for...
- mcbean, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7It's only ok if the blog is well established and counts as 'content'. In other words, people are ridiculously hypocritical seeing as everything can be called content in one way or another. Seen below "Would hackaday really be considered a blog? It's more like slashdot for "hacks" instead of news." Hey, guess what, Slashdot's not much more than Cmdr Taco's blog... It just gets a lot more traffic. Is the only requirement to not be a blog having your own domain name? Worthless. People ought to refrain from editorializing the submissions/comments and contribute something useful regarding the story instead.
(I'm aware of the UTTER HYPOCRISY in the last sentence based on the contents of my own post. Sit on it!) - mediaphile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1hmm, from the description, i thought they had connected a few different alarms together to make one giant ultra-alarm. now that would be a sonic grenade. especially if they were different brands and had different alarm patterns. that would be terrible.
- spenceman01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Is this what you are referring to?

No, that's a toy.
Look here,
http://www.cyclegadgets.com/Products/product.asp?Item=MEANIE
Go into any truckstop on the highway and browse around, you'll find them.
These things are freaking awful. My friend was a trucker for a bit and he showed me the alarm he had. Man, it caused me dain bramage. Go for the 120db model.
You could take one of these to a graveyard and clear the place out. - naisanza, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1lol thats hot. yo i want a sonic grenade to chuck at my retarded room mate
- JNitz36, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Digg. We had this idea in college when we had a prank war. We were going to "inconvienience" people by dopping some date rape alarms in very hard to reach areas of their rooms. They would have to break the wall to get them out. This is great. Too bad im not in college anymore. Will have to test out on the roomates when they are hungover.
- alice11, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1HA, I wish Hackaday was my own blog.
- KenAycock, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Would hackaday really be considered a blog? It's more like slashdot for "hacks" instead of news.
- theoallardyce, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1First news item: someone jumps out of their window when a grenade is thrown into their room.
Second news item: someone decides to see what would happen if they strap 50 of these things to themselves like a 'sonic suicide bomber' - parents sue someone for the hearing loss.
Third news item: actual suicide bomber mistakes these for the real thing, straps them to chest and walks into a crowded place. - goat-san, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2agreed again
- EochaidRiata, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1How long until someone scatters some of these around Ravenna, Ohio?
- klacour, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Two thoughts:
1) "comes with a belt clip" ... imagine this thing going off around waist-level. It will surely damage anything that has anything to do with pro-creation
2) The loudest concert ever recorded was once a Deep Purple concert, clocking in at over 120db. Except it lasted over 2 hours, and there was no way to turn it off - antdude, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Heh, don't do this to paranoid people or else they think that is a real grenade. :)
- Ferago, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0haha, this thing looks awesome. I plan to test it out.
- MOJIRA, on 05/17/2008, -1/+1Aww, I was hoping for something that blows stuff up made by the military not a loud sound...
- VioletArrows, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Problem is, if I were to throw a couple of these downstairs into my neighbors' apartment, they wouldn't even notice, and my misery would be compounded.
- andysawesome, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ok people, dont use 110 dB if you dont want to hurt someones hearing.. though im not sure where to find one..... any way, dontr make it if you dont wanna........ duuuhhhh
- Darph.Bobo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Even easier, put some dry ice in a plastic water bottle, add a little water, tighten the top and walk away.
- klacour, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Unless that was your plan all along, then the new roommate is probably already picked out and ready to go ... or come ... or move in ... or whatever ...
- klacour, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1"It's funny until someone gets hurt ... then it's hilarious ..."
- theman8631, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Its only 110 decibles. I know thats loud but ... well a grenade that puts out something as loud as me going "AAAH!" you could just punch me in the nuts and i could do that without all the modding.
My point was that this would be way freakin cool if it was like 140 or something - slicedoranges, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I smell lawsuit if I actually use one.
- wignasty, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Another guy posting his blog w/ a link to the actual article on it.
- antdude, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Heh, I would probably sleep through this one because
- iSamurai, on 10/12/2007, -7/+5agreed
- snorkle256, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1I take it Nycto doesn't appriciate the lengths people go through to have original content on their websites.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2what does that even mean? It ISN'T original content. Just some lame idiot trying to use digg to get his family off welfare.
- evilpig, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3Haha
- queefer, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1Where's the video link?
- anduril, on 10/12/2007, -11/+4that's true. if you're a teenager, it would be funny.
- schlagzeuger, on 10/12/2007, -12/+4lame link to a ***** blog? what is wrong with you guys? stop digging this crap
- awfulshot, on 10/12/2007, -16/+6lol..
"Thank you for posting it as hackaday's instead of directly going to the link. :)"
"Not a direct link... no digg >:-{" - Nycto, on 10/12/2007, -29/+6Not a direct link... no digg >:-{

What is Digg?
