- aburd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9The option to add an event via SMS is what makes Google Calendar superior to Office Calendar. The fact that from whereever I am and without the use of a computer or browser I can add an event simply by SMSing "meet Mr. XYZ at 5 on friday" is just the killer feature. If Google were to add just a lightweight desktop calendar that has the ability to display the previously saved calendar info from the Google Headquarters in case of connection failure, there would be no argument from anyone that Google Calendar is the superior calendar today.

- Nothlit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4The biggest thing that sucks about Google Calendar is that you can only get SMS/email notification for events on your primary calendar. If you create additional calendars for color-coding purposes, or link in publicly shared calendars from other users, you won't get any notifications for events on those secondary calendars, nor will any of the events from those calendars show up on your daily emailed agenda. Users have been complaining about this for months and months, but it seems Google doesn't want to do anything about it.

Freaking catchy tune, deserved a link. - NanoStuff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I can't believe they have SMS notification but they don't have google toolbar notification. How could such a basic feature could be overlooked is beyond me, especially when you consider the toolbar has a google calendar icon.
- Derrekito, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I want a firefox extension that auto blocks any user that says "facebook" or "myspace".
- amandaw33, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3When's google going to integrate to do lists.. geez (yes, I know you can do it with 3rd party).. it's the one thing that would really complete gcal for me
- strabes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1great tips. The SMS stuff caused me to switch to google calendar.
- qpPeteyqp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's great they compiled all these tips together. Even though I don't think I would use it much, I'm not too busy a guy... school, wahoo!
- AndrewDB, on 01/10/2008, -4/+5Great article, but the one thing they forgot, which I can't believe they forgot, was a konfabulator widget that I use on a daily basis:

***** the most useful widget ever made for a Google Calendar user. - therunnersays, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow. Thanks for posting a story about this. I'm going to start using GCal to keep track of all my work for college, amongst other things. Great stuff.
- PatrickBeseda, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I just started using all the Google stuff in the past few months. All of it is so great and GCal sends me a text every day with all of my school, work, games, appointments, etc. Most of these I didn't know. Good find.

- voodoobru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"8. Access your calendar while you’re on the road. Text “next” to short code 48368 get your next event or “nday” to get events for the following day"
I don't understand how the calendar knows which profile to use when sending a message to a generic google number. For example, if i send nday to gmail from my cell phone, how does gmail know to pull from mr. voodoo's calendar because all it sees is a message nday coming from phone 555-555-5555? basically how does it tie the phone to the profile? - wulanshout, on 11/14/2008, -0/+0http://www.wulanshout.com/seo/busby-seo-test-seo-c ...
