- katsumuto, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Respect Guys::!!!!
- HOTM, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Who wants to bet the PSP battery will be one of the top sellers on amazon this week?
- knowitman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4This is good news for people who want to just run basic homebrew but bad news for Sony because some people will use this to pirate PSP games. I wonder if Sony will now be redesigning the battery so that they can't be used for this purpose.
- Daisuke, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2of course they will be redesigning the battery, but for now, this is a MONUMENTAL acheivement. if the service mode is enabled in the hardware, all you'd need is a pandora battery (of course, you can always borrow one - new batteries will likely be back-compatible) and a proper hardware revision (everything up 'till this point, which is a LOT of PSPs) to run homebrew.
- JNABK, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3And not just Amazon...........everyones going to try cashing in on them!

- mrdank, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5hell yeah!!! psp scene has just owned $ony
- JNABK, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2That should restore faith from those who have tried to spread doubt upon the PSP scene!
OUTSTANDING!! You guys are top notch!! - gamehunter101, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3great job to the crew who pulled this off
- Holosoth, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1This can still be patched. Sony could make firmware that made this method immune with security that prevented the flash0 to be written to. This of course would require the psp to be on. Of course you could brick it, however, that isnt very likely if you have nothing to update to (you could pull the battery during an update to brick).
- FreePlayPSP, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Nope, that's not possible.
The Jigkick writes to flash0 even when the flash is completely empty - no firmware whatsoever. Its software is loaded *before* the firmware; even if the firmware blocked writing to flash0, the Jigkick would be up and running from the memory stick before the firmware even started to load.- Maurik, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Also if flash0 was being blocked from being written to, then Sony could never make another firmware upgrade. Just wouldn't happen.
- urherenow, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1no... what you're all not realizing is that this is the ONLY method to fix a bricked PSP so Sony NEEDS it to work this way. How do you think they fix your bricked PSPs in the first place? Do you think they replace your motherboard all of the time? Heh... that would get expensive. Anyway Sony just has better software on the memory stick image, that's all. We just need to figure out how to get a proper IPL thingy now ...
- Maurik, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Also if flash0 was being blocked from being written to, then Sony could never make another firmware upgrade. Just wouldn't happen.
- FreePlayPSP, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Nope, that's not possible.

YES THIS IS GREAT NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - djk21108, on 10/10/2007, -5/+0Kinda gay that this was kept secret.
If someone just sold their bricked psp on ebay i bet they're totally *****. - koppatroppa, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Really big Kudos to the whole team. They've practically done the impossible an universal downgrader and unbricker all in one. I mean no more fear of bricking your psp. As you can unbrick your psp yourself without sending it in. Suggest to Sony, just open up your psp to homebrew, of course there will be the pirates who profite of it too, but if Sony would open up their psp for homebrew there will probabely be a huge impact on psp sales and that would truly cover the cost those pirates are causing
- digittynugget, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I follow all the directions until I get to the execute "msipl" application on the pc with the msipl.bin to write the ipl
How do I go about doing that step?? Please help- FreePlayPSP, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2It's msinst, not msipl. The readme has several typos.
I've got an installation/use guide at http://f6y.ath.cx/pspdev/PandoraGuide.html .
- FreePlayPSP, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2It's msinst, not msipl. The readme has several typos.
- Skeeboe, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I've followed these guys' work for some time, and this is typical of them. Amazing, professional work. Now that everyone can run homebrew, I can't imagine *anyone* not running out and buying a PSP. And, of course, donating to Noobz (Sony, you should have sold an upgrade to unlock the PSP... this could have been your money!)
- N54n3, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1 These guys are amazing ! this is the most impressive PSP hack ever.... I've got no words to say for how much i respect N00bz team and C+D .... Geniuses !
- Korbei83, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Money. Fortune. Fame. Women. Global Domination.. All due to C+D.
Happy to donate! - danXxX, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1So that's it a downgrader for 3.51 3.52 , 3.6 just by a jigkick battery off ebay
- Jvliet, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Well, Sony can use this method instead of warranty replacements.
- devon145, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I have a very important question... because in Europe on 6 September we will have PSP Slim in shops... someone maybe have an idea that this will work for Slim version of PSP too? Because I wanted to buy a new one...
Big Respect :) I Love U Guys ;) U're the best!!! - Ryfael, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1This was done by the PSP Homebrew Dream Team. Thanks for everything guys
- a33a, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Does this mean I can downgrade my 3.03 PSP without GTA or Lumines? If so, how would I do it?
- mineworker, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Oh I don't know... maybe you should READ the article and find out for yourself?
- urherenow, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1don't be such a jackass. You can use Pandora's battery on ANY PSP regardless of firmware or hardware(how do you people think Sony fixes broken PSPs) But you need to borrow a homebrew compatible PSP to actually be able to MAKE the battery and memory stick.
- mineworker, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Oh I don't know... maybe you should READ the article and find out for yourself?
- HellionNecrosis, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1This is sick! I highly recommend that all you guys at least donate a few bucks to this team!!!! They have really hooked the scene up since day one! Remember, they will be needing some $$$ for that new PSP to operate on!!!
They totally own the scene now!!!!! - multippt, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Hmm... looks like Noobz forgot to prominantly say that this unbricker also downgrades PSPs (including those with 3.52). Well, at least the unbricker is much more safer to use than those conventional downgraders; Who would ever worry about bricking their PSP with an unbricker coming from N00bz?
- digittynugget, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Worked Great for me on 2 bricked PSP's , However I can not update the firmware from 1.5 after the unbrick process , I have tried the network update option of the psp and I have also tried downloading the eboot of the newest firmware and it always tells me this
the system configuration of the psp
system does not appear to be correct
the update cannot be completed.

How can I update the firmware? - DaveRolph, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Can anyone help me, I have to admit I am totally new to PSP homebrew although I have tried to read up on it and I have read this article and related read me's, My questions...
1 - Where Can I buy a Jigkick Battery (none listed on ebay)
2 - Following on from the question above if I go back to 1.5 is that it for my PSP - I would need to upgrade back to play newer games I buy ?
Thanks, sorry if this is the wrong place to post - any additional links for newbie would be much appreciated.
BTW I have already donated and suggest everyone else does the same.- gamesadict, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Answers:
1. the jigkick battery is made using the stuff you download from their site. Buy a new PSP battery pack and then follow the instructions on the readme. (you must buy the new battery pack because when you make it a jigkick battery it will be useless for normal play, you will only be able to use it to unbrick your PSP). The jigkick battery is not to be bought, is to be made by YOU.
2. Yes, you'll have to upgrade your psp's firmware again, but install a custom firmware this time. I suggest you go to www.psp-hacks.com, then go to their forums and look for a tutorial that is stickied there on how to install a custom firmware. There is a small chance you will brick your PSP, but that's what you have the jigkick battery for: To Un-brick it. so you can keep trying til the custom firmware is installed correctly. (REMEMBER, BUY A NEW BATTERY PACK, IT WILL BE USELESS FOR NORMAL USE ONCE ITS MADE A JIGKICK)- gamesadict, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1" The firmware in the Memory Stick is not a full 1.50, but a minimal
subset. Therefore, not all applications (such as flashers, or
recovery apps) will load."
oops, i didnt read this. now im not sure if the custom firmwares can be installed. :/ - webjockey, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I Think it is possible to update to any official firmware when you use your magic memory stick and battery, just rename it update and put it in the root of your stick, also, you CAN use your Battery after its made as a jigkick IF you save its eeprom (original code) cos, what the Pandora's Battery creator does is change the code to 0xFFFFFF so that you unlock the recovery mode. You can also reuse the battery even if you didn't back up the eeprom (silly you), but, this will either work flawlessly or will get thrown right back int your face, because, the program gives your battery a code (0x123456) which is not its real code. In short, don't be stupid, if there is a backup option, use it, or you will regret it later.
- gamesadict, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1" The firmware in the Memory Stick is not a full 1.50, but a minimal
