- Tyrghast, on 05/05/2008, -1/+109A cool experiment, unfortunately the video suffers from what I can only assume are a large flock of mosquito's that follow the camera around.
- quomen, on 05/05/2008, -1/+71Wow this is the first flickr video on the front page!
However, my ears are suffering from that awful music. - TheNateGBent, on 05/05/2008, -2/+46What was that sound?
- ogore, on 05/05/2008, -0/+37It should be modded to fit inside an actual oyster
- toliseju, on 05/05/2008, -1/+30It's all cool and all, but seriously, that background noise (music?) is doing my ***** head in
- garywoo, on 05/05/2008, -1/+24the music sounds like some jingle bells fapping.
- dilbert, on 05/05/2008, -0/+21Melted? Rly? Didn't you mean: dissolved?
- breakerjump, on 05/05/2008, -1/+16That sound that makes you believe that somehow you have an itch on the inside of your ear that could only be scratched by a .44 magnum, that's the work of one Ryoji Ikeda.
http://www.ryojiikeda.com/ - Ikulus, on 05/05/2008, -2/+15Oh I just assumed that was new Aphex Twin or something.
- DrDabbles, on 05/05/2008, -0/+12Annoying.
- oobi, on 05/05/2008, -0/+11you can say that again!
- dotpoo, on 05/05/2008, -0/+11It would be pretty cool to press the remaining contents into your own card; like two of your own business cards pressed and then laminated together....no doubt it would raise eyebrows from the underground staff.
Then again, who actually ever takes the card out of their wallet....okay, so that was a stupid idea. - edenseager, on 05/05/2008, -3/+13Cool?
- Sirlolalot, on 05/05/2008, -0/+8The Langoliers
- acidandspatter, on 05/05/2008, -0/+8You don't have to take it out to swipe it. Everyone just swipes their wallet/purse. The readers are pretty sensitive.
- roblawton, on 05/05/2008, -1/+8That's pretty cool!
Might try it (somehow) and put together a little oyster keyfob! - Scynet, on 05/05/2008, -0/+6Insufficient sense detected.
- eq2s, on 05/05/2008, -0/+5really?
- Fullvinyl, on 05/05/2008, -1/+4I have a spare Oyster card as well...too bad I'm not actually IN London, otherwise I could try it for myself.
- JudgeMonkey, on 05/05/2008, -0/+3Damn, is that even music? It sounds like sounds from a raw source if you choose the wrong bitrate etc..
- inverselogic, on 05/05/2008, -0/+3So the jumanji chest is in the UK now aye?
- mrnoob, on 05/05/2008, -0/+3wtf is an oyster card?
- aaronmcdonald, on 05/05/2008, -0/+3They should of just played that music to the oyster card to see what happens, cause its made my ***** ears melt off!!
- marksmayo, on 05/05/2008, -0/+3What gets me is that the Oyster is usable for weeklies, one months, etc but if you want an annual pass to save money, you get issued with this regular card which requires taking out of your wallet and passing through the card slot to get through. It's such a nuisance - at least you save money, but damn I miss the convenience of the Oyster...
- OMGsplosion, on 05/05/2008, -1/+3Put it under your foreskin... should be fun.
- UltX, on 05/05/2008, -0/+2They were our new flying CCTV cameras that follow us citizens around.
- dpcamp, on 05/05/2008, -1/+3i'm surprised this got on the the front page.
- toliseju, on 05/05/2008, -1/+3You prick.
- JudgeMonkey, on 05/05/2008, -1/+3I was thinking of sewing it into the sleeve of a jacket (well, If i lived where these were used that is.).
- AlphaArietis, on 05/05/2008, -2/+4RFID Is Creepy
- sarixe, on 05/05/2008, -1/+3prick roll
- teh_techie, on 05/05/2008, -2/+4Yes... he meant dissolved...
- bbendele, on 05/05/2008, -0/+2Next step: Embed the RFID in your hand
- phenom2k7, on 05/05/2008, -1/+3Well don't listen to it then DUH !
Jeeez - dacheetah, on 05/06/2008, -0/+2That could be hilarious.
- inactive, on 05/06/2008, -0/+2That would be a worthwhile way to spend your time for sure!
- YodaJones, on 05/05/2008, -0/+2Dude, I think the black helicopters were following you when you made your video RFID experiment.
- Atomic1fire, on 05/05/2008, -0/+2A london railway card... I think
I had no clue until now with wikipedia - magicmarc, on 05/06/2008, -1/+2A watch, definitely.
Or, as some people do, an implant? Like, the palm of your hand or something. If the implant was invisible, that would be awesome. - choopie911, on 05/05/2008, -0/+1He deserves a punch in the eye for that song choice.
- dacheetah, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1Exactly what I was thinking...
Although the sleeve idea would work just as well without the complication of having a band that can be undone. - Sillywombat, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1funny idea
- cianuro, on 05/08/2008, -0/+1Some others who have melted down their oyster cards and put the RFID into other things:
http://www.endorsedcards.co.uk/featured-cards/barc ... - plasticated, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1Where can you buy pure acetone in the UK? I assume nail polish remover isn't strong enough?
- Lemonion, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1Why not take the remains and mount it into an acrylic ring, or perhaps a wooden ring?
It should work just the same right?
RFID Ring Key for me! - Anonymous3, on 05/05/2008, -0/+1Considering the music in the flickr vid, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0KBfKbYDtI would be more appropriate (P.S. turn the volume down)
- MITpianoman, on 05/05/2008, -0/+1I've decided to give this a try so I can put the resulting copper ring into my cell phone (Treo) battery compartment and carry around one less card in my wallet. Can any chemistry-types on here comment whether or not acetic acid will work as well as acetone? Nail polish remover wasn't strong enough, and a friend can get me some 100% acetic acid if that'll work.
- terencec, on 05/05/2008, -1/+2From what I learned in high school Chemistry, acetic acid will work, but it also depends on the molarity(concentration) of your acetic acid. If it is too high, it might damage the microchip, but if its too low, it won't do anything
- MITpianoman, on 05/05/2008, -0/+1I decided to go ahead with the acetic acid. Even in glacial (100%) form, in an hour, I still don't see any observable change in the card.
- vertigoacid, on 05/05/2008, -0/+1Guess you didn't learn much in High School Chemistry.
You need a non-polar organic solvent, not an acid -
