she is cute! - actorboy, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10I've never seen my on drugs, but now I know what to watch out for. Thanks.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -5/+12Yes because being on drugs is soooo awesome dude.
get a job. - cdmarcus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5My guess is that they fired a flash to "freeze" the subject, then had them start playing with the light thingies. The subjects aren't brightly lit enough to be seen without a flash.

kevin rose... :o - Klarth, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5You don't see darker objects on long exposures if they're moving quickly. Illuminated objects, however, are prominent.
- ldsnately, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I don't get it: who plays with the toys? The subjects have to be absolutely still or they'd blur, so I'm guessing the photographer or some assistant? But you don't see their hands or anything. How's it done?
- anthrt, on 10/11/2007, -4/+8Digg folks:

- ChromaVita, on 10/11/2007, -6/+9Could these kinds of photos be the new HDR photos on digg?
- xister, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Preferably not as an English teacher.
- davidrools, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2black gloves/long sleeves?
- nixdoctor, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2This one has a camouflaged firefox logo: http://flickr.com/photos/juliancash/673894501/in/set-72157600572658621/
- xister, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2edit-sorry
- kuyman, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2my guess is they take a picture of the face with flash at the beginning of the exposure on a black background, then the subject plays with the light.
- schurkenstadt, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Yes, if rainbow sprites become the new (old?) toy story and if gay becomes the new straight.
- xister, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Molly's cute too.
- beerbarron, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Thats pretty good slow shutter speed work, I like the colours in this, as a photographer I can appreciate this a lot. Nice submission, I had a go at this a while back on myself, http://www.flickr.com/photos/12981814@N00/180907397/ colours arnt as funky mind
- juliancash, on 10/19/2007, -0/+2Not needed. There is rarely any trace of me in the shot. If there is, it's a faint ghostly blur and kinda adds. As Klarth said, things only show up if a light is pointed at them. A bigger problem is me accidentally having my head/body in between the camera and the subject when I'm doing the painting.
- bat-21, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Some music videos done with the same technique.

Duran Duran "All She Wants is" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UuM66OfxhUE - beeudoublez, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1What Julian did was sit you down, and had you sit absolutely still. Its a really long exposure, and at the beginning, he has a dome light he shines from behind the camera. Right after that, he slowly comes around you with LEDs and other lights. The tough part is keeping your eyes totally focused while he is flashing the LEDs in your face.
- Wonotch, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1cdmarcus is exactly right
- theworldisround, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Leik, omg, dood, mad propz 4 yo' pix!
- darny, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1wow, this doesn't even attempt to not be incredibly dorky.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Dude that's like trippy man.
- dysk, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0They probably use a flash. That helps a lot with pictures like this, as the face is mainly caught during the moment that the flash is on rather than extended throughout the entire exposure
- schurkenstadt, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1No, she isn't.
- juliancash, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0It is an interesting comparison.
- juliancash, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0I take that as a complement partly because it's true, although I prefer "geeky" to "dorky".
-julian "geek" cash - ihaveduff, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1mmmmm *memories of raves*
- kindustry, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0these pictures are too cool for school!

- windigo, on 10/11/2007, -4/+1When I've done photos with a long shutter like this, the people in them always can't help wiggling a little and blurring their outline. Anyone know how this is fixed for the linked photos?
- xaaronreevesx, on 10/11/2007, -7/+4Kevin has been experimenting with ecstasy lately.
- alexlafreniere, on 10/13/2009, -5/+2No, there's no hot girls wanting him to sign their breasts in his picture.
- bugblatterbeast, on 10/11/2007, -6/+2The color choices make it interesting. Multi-colored faces... nice.
- AndrewNorris, on 10/11/2007, -6/+2I feel like I just took three hits of E.
- SamPollock, on 10/11/2007, -6/+1you guys can just screw off. I am way older than all of you youngings. I was the general manager of the montreal canadians for christ sakes.

- Niddik, on 10/11/2007, -8/+3Those pictures remind me of the time I shone a flashlight into a scanner as it moved. It was equally psychedelic.
- wildfire, on 10/11/2007, -6/+1I'll stick with Alex Grey's work.
