- sjbdallas, on 01/14/2009, -2/+35Watched Aliens again a few days ago and it's still a classic.
- FrozenGonad, on 01/14/2009, -0/+12That's it man, game over man, game over! What the ***** are we gonna do now? What are we gonna do?
- tgc1, on 01/14/2009, -0/+9Dude, that movie is over 20 years old! What could they possibly be thinking in promoting it now?
- CoreyTamas, on 01/14/2009, -0/+9You only like those better because they come with a free hot girl attached.
- jcaffoe, on 01/14/2009, -0/+9Man that's awesome...might be my favorite sci-fi weapon of all time.
- eclectro, on 01/14/2009, -0/+7And why is it the law that it can not fire, being a "prop" gun?? Would it be any different if it was made from scratch instead of former guns??
- straxxus, on 01/14/2009, -0/+6I say we take off and nuke the site from orbit. Only way to be sure.
- tgc1, on 01/14/2009, -0/+6How about that weapon from Demolition Man that Wesley Snipes uses? Sort of similar, only the one from DM took time to charge, which is a complete poo-poo. If the marines in Aliens had that gun they'd have been toast.
Also, favorite scene in Aliens is when those automated turrets start firing on the advancing alien colony. Wicked scene. - nogChoco, on 01/14/2009, -0/+6"Sir, you copying this? Looks like hits from small arms fire... uhhh... we've got some explosives damages, probably seismic survey charges... are you reading this? Keep it tight, people!"
- mrBitch, on 01/14/2009, -2/+7RE: the Starship Troopers movie :
http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/projects/morita/mor ...
" Paul Verhoeven et al decided to leave out the powered armor...
Tactics consist of running towards the enemy in a big mob, running away from the enemy in a big mob, and walking from point A to point B in a big mob. (I especially like the scene where the MIs form a big circle around a Bug, with fellow troopers in their line of fire, and shoot at the Bug in the center -- I guess they are not as picky about friendly fire casualties in the 22nd century.)
A supposedly elite unit, the MIs would have a hard time defeating a unit of Campfire Girls, let alone the Bugs..."
Also, if you found Heinlein's book "Starship Troopers" a good read, but wanted a more gritty and "realistic" portrayal of powered armor (armour for the british) combat, then you can't go past Haldeman's "The Forever War". - Jektal, on 01/14/2009, -2/+7Cool, but it's no ZF-1
http://toysofwar.com/wp-content/uploads/zorggun.jp ... - zadadka, on 01/14/2009, -0/+5M41 Pulse is also the basis for the Morita rifle seen in Starship Troopers.
More info : http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/projects/morita/mor ... & http://www.starshiptroopers.net/MoritaTEXT.html - gurtfrobe, on 01/14/2009, -1/+6Good work. Dugg for the SPAS-12 heat shield cage.
- eclectro, on 01/14/2009, -0/+5Actually I believe the article said that the grenade launcher was actually a shot gun. So, yes it could fire both. But for legal reasons he deactivated the firing capabilities of the gun.
- Skapocalypse, on 01/14/2009, -0/+4BFG!
- Volatile36, on 01/14/2009, -0/+4Dugg because if you have the means it could actually be a working model...
Minus the grenade launcher, that is. - JoeyDeacon, on 01/14/2009, -0/+4Stay frosty!
- MacParrot, on 01/14/2009, -0/+4Joe Halderman's "The Forever War" (which won numerous Sci-Fi book awards) has got to be one of my favorite all-time reads along with Heinlein's "I will fear no evil" and "Stranger in a Strange land"
I loved the bit about the portable shield that allowed no electrical activity and that they defeated a larger enemy force by disabling the trigger on a nuke and moving the shield past it.
Hated Starship Trooper the movie though except for some really excellent nude scenes - mythicflux, on 01/14/2009, -0/+4Zorg: It's light. Handle's adjustable for easy carrying, good for righties and lefties. Breaks down into four parts, undetectable by x-ray, ideal for quick, discreet interventions. A word on firepower. Titanium recharger, three thousand round clip with bursts of three to three hundred, and with the Replay button - another Zorg invention - it's even easier.
(and don't forget about....)
Zorg: I hate warriors, too narrow-minded. I'll tell you what I do like though: a killer, a dyed-in-the-wool killer. Cold blooded, clean, methodical and thorough. Now a real killer, when he picked up the ZF-1, would've immediately asked about the little red button on the bottom of the gun.
[Scene shifts to Aknot, who is staring in confusion at the little red button. He shrugs and pushes it]
Zorg: [Casually smokes a cigarette as the room with the Mangalores blows up] Bring me the priest. - daskro, on 01/14/2009, -0/+4Unless you're a Class II/III dealer, the only full auto Thompson you'll be buying for $2,000 is an illegal one.
- mattrmcg, on 01/14/2009, -0/+4Be nice if it actually fired both .45 and 12 gauge :D
- buschwacker, on 01/14/2009, -0/+4The real one was fake too, you know.
- zdw216, on 01/14/2009, -0/+4A video of that in action would be real neatt
- ilikedthecore, on 01/14/2009, -0/+4Look, man. I only need to know one thing: where they are.
- Pixelante, on 01/14/2009, -0/+3Maybe we could build a fire, sing a couple of songs, huh? Why don't we try that?
- Bloodwine, on 01/14/2009, -0/+3Yes, that was the coolest weapon in Aliens. Made me want to become a space marine when I was a kid.
- voodoochild, on 01/14/2009, -0/+3Someone needs to make a M-56 smart gun w/eye piece. That was my Aliens weapon of choice..
- reyalp, on 01/14/2009, -0/+3http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Firearms_Act
- garlicdeath, on 01/14/2009, -0/+3Then post it or shut up.
- straxxus, on 01/14/2009, -0/+3Aliens was my favorite. Best one of the entire series. I think it was the the combination of the one liners, the weapons, more fighting the actual aliens and not just one alien running around somewhere and of course Hudson.
- 3ntropy, on 01/14/2009, -0/+3Gearbox Software made one that actually fires rifle bullets + shotgun shells.
- Volatile36, on 01/14/2009, -0/+2Right across the street from UCF?????
WHY HAVE I NEVER BEEN THERE!?!?!?! - wrestlingnrj, on 01/14/2009, -0/+2You do know that there is a conversion kit you can buy to turn a Thompson Airsoft rifle into this right? It's been out for quite a few years.
Article from 2001: http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/?filnavn=/projects/ ... - CanadaMan87, on 01/14/2009, -0/+2When have fantasy/sci-fi weapons NOT been cool.
- inactive, on 01/14/2009, -0/+2Acid for blood
- valimar77, on 01/14/2009, -2/+4That is cool. "Game over man...Game over!" - Bill Paxton
- dixhuit, on 01/14/2009, -0/+2lol
- Pixelante, on 01/14/2009, -0/+2The weapon used by the Snipes character in DM is a HK G11 prototype, not a custom prop. In reality it's not a DEW but a caseless ammo-based assault rifle that never got into full production.
- mrBitch, on 01/16/2009, -0/+2@ MacParrot RE: " Joe Halderman's "The Forever War" (which won numerous Sci-Fi book awards) has got to be one of my favorite all-time reads along with Heinlein's "I will fear no evil" and "Stranger in a Strange land" "
OMFG, we could be blood brothers!
Also loved Heinlein's "Glory Road". - satchthegreat, on 01/14/2009, -0/+2i dugg the article, but yes.
- MacEnvy, on 01/14/2009, -1/+3Because you actually live in Nebraska?
- shipwreck58, on 01/14/2009, -0/+2The greatest gun from the greatest Sci-Fi move ever!
- whoreable, on 01/14/2009, -1/+3Im still waiting on my shock rifle.
- RevLoki, on 01/14/2009, -0/+2I still need to get around to making m y PVC E-11. Some day... TK-560's got some nice stuff.
- daskro, on 01/14/2009, -1/+3He could have spent another $19,000 or so, got a real Thompson, a Remington 870 SBS, and could have himself the real deal.
- akeldama, on 01/14/2009, -0/+2I'd also like to recommend Armor by John Steakley.
- unknownpoltroon, on 01/14/2009, -0/+2That just takes more means and paperwork.
- anillop, on 01/14/2009, -0/+2The only thing cooler would be a lightsaber.
- MiDri, on 01/14/2009, -1/+2Um... living in Oklahoma I could pick up a real Thompson for less then $2,000 (Might be a little worse for wear, but if you're just going to strip and paint it anyway, not a big deal -- maybe even better for this project.) ... You big city folks, ba!
- satchthegreat, on 01/14/2009, -0/+1that thing looks way out of hand
