- Trax91, on 11/15/2008, -4/+28Apple should really start listening to their fans. If the people wants cake, let them have it. Fans have been screaming for Mac Mini update for so long.
- dekarma2005, on 11/16/2008, -2/+14I saw it in person and it's amazing. I want one too now!
- MacParrot, on 11/16/2008, -0/+10The part that really bugs me is that they could make a smaller Mac (like maybe the LC-series size) using standard PC parts instead of laptop parts and it would be faster AND cheaper than the current Mac Mini. I mean it's nice that the Mini is so small and everything, but I would trade a little size for a little less money (and I'm not even asking for major expandability, just RAM and hard drive like the mini is now).
- inactive, on 11/16/2008, -2/+11To bad your jokes suck.
- elliam, on 11/16/2008, -0/+9Ah, blog spam. Engaget links to lifehacker which links back to the actual blog in question.
- MacParrot, on 11/16/2008, -0/+9"After receiving an all-but-completely-dead MacBook, one particular modder decided to rip the motherboard out, break out the soldering iron, throw in a few replacement parts and shove everything into a Macally G-S350SUA aluminum hard drive enclosure."
- Zendervision, on 11/16/2008, -0/+8The Macbook he used had a broken screen, dead battery and deceased DVD drive. Replacing those would have cost a fortune, better he mod it into something cool than chuck it in the bin.
- jesterace, on 11/16/2008, -2/+10Too bad your grammar sucks.
- inactive, on 11/16/2008, -3/+11tell us more about your family we are all sooo interested
- jdmzpf, on 11/16/2008, -0/+7Wheres the disc drive?
- markwilcox, on 11/16/2008, -5/+12really dont see the point.
- MacParrot, on 11/16/2008, -1/+8If you had RTA, you would have known it was a MacBook that had pretty much been given up for dead after some water damage.
- GalacticRerun, on 11/16/2008, -2/+9Too bad your spelling's not on point.

Enclosure that he used ^ - DrDigg, on 11/16/2008, -0/+6Glad this finally made it to the front page wolphcry. This is awesome.
- wolphcry, on 11/16/2008, -1/+7LOL... I have three kids.
- fuzzynyanko, on 11/16/2008, -1/+7It was built from the parts of a dead MacBook. I'd say it's better than throwing those parts away
- proliance, on 11/16/2008, -0/+5because
- diggdong, on 11/16/2008, -0/+5apples and peanut butter. Now that is a combination.
- Wandel, on 11/16/2008, -1/+5LOL @ "LOL @"
- ross., on 11/16/2008, -1/+5i'm drunk and this still doesn't make sense.
- radicalchaos, on 11/16/2008, -0/+3Cute
- jobobshishkabob, on 11/16/2008, -0/+3It was a broken Macbook. RTFA...
- sjmulder, on 11/16/2008, -2/+5I do not. Not if it's not implemented in way that suits the iPhone perfectly.
I'm glad the iPhone threw the user-visible file system out. I think the deal with copy paste is bit the same – most things you'd use it for could be done much better otherwise. Like phone numbers that just become links, photo's you can tap-hold to email, etc. - waluigi14, on 11/16/2008, -0/+3That's miniDisplayPort to DVI.
- WatchDogX, on 11/16/2008, -2/+5why
- RadiatedAnt, on 11/16/2008, -0/+3great now you have me browsing newegg...
- Hobbes24, on 11/16/2008, -2/+5yea....
you can do that with a miniDVI to DVI cable
and you don't have to mod your laptop
and it will be thinner - switchman401, on 11/16/2008, -0/+3Because your Mac Mini is hella slow!
- raydeen, on 11/16/2008, -1/+4Fair enough. I didn't read the article. Serves me right. I'd digg myself down if I could. I blame the alcohol.
- ziromix, on 11/16/2008, -0/+3i love how in this post you can actually see where raydeen gets increasingly frustrated
- blakmajik, on 11/16/2008, -1/+4Yes.
- allyant, on 11/16/2008, -2/+5Get past all the blog spam:
http://wolphbite.com/blog/?p=62 - inactive, on 11/16/2008, -2/+5very nice mod.
- abajaj2280, on 11/16/2008, -0/+3external maybe?
- deadapostle, on 11/16/2008, -1/+3The step-by-step photos the article links to are awesome. What a great example of dealing with a problem (water damaged macbook) and having something good to show for it.
- MacParrot, on 11/16/2008, -1/+3That's because you have to be on acid for it to be coherent. Didn't you get the memo distributed by flying unicorns?
- miralize, on 11/15/2008, -6/+8This is soooo cute!!!
- Brooklyn88, on 11/16/2008, -1/+3Apple doesn't need to replace the mac mini right now, as the current models are apparently still selling very well. Why introduce something that costs more to make, when you can still sell old tech. at a decent price?
- inactive, on 11/16/2008, -0/+2what are you idiots babbling about? I want a real Mac mini, with a sturdy case like this. i also want a monitor with a foot that comes off, so i can put it in a hard case. bite me.
- Steeple, on 11/16/2008, -1/+3
- polyp2000, on 11/20/2008, -0/+1Is this legal ?
I mean - under the terms and conditions of OSX you are not permitted to install the operating system on non Apple "labelled" computers.
Why is this any different from making a hackintosh (excluding the motherboard).
(From the end user license...
"2. Permitted License Uses and Restrictions.
A. This License allows you to install and use one copy of the Apple Software on a single Apple-labeled computer at a time. This
License does not allow the Apple Software to exist on more than one computer at a time, and you may not make the Apple Software
available over a network where it could be used by multiple computers at the same time. If you use Setup Assistant to transfer
software from one Apple-labeled computer to another Apple-labeled computer, please remember that continued use of the original
copy of the software may be prohibited once a copy has been transferred to another computer, unless you already have a licensed
copy of such software on both computers. You should check the relevant software license agreements for applicable terms and
conditions. You may make one copy of the Apple Software (excluding the Boot ROM code) in machine-readable form for backup
purposes only; provided that the backup copy must include all copyright or other proprietary notices contained on the original." )
N. - raydeen, on 11/16/2008, -1/+2It was fueled by 12 hours of Old Crow. I was swinging for the fences at that point. :D
- alerad, on 11/16/2008, -3/+4Mary had a son, doesn't mean she wasn't a virgin...
- edrainkona, on 11/16/2008, -2/+3But can it run Crysis?
- alerad, on 11/16/2008, -0/+1Then why don't you marry it?
