- thailand1972, on 12/14/2007, -2/+24Wow, what a total abuse of Google's bandwidth. Storage is cheap, bandwidth is not. This kind of abuse would get you banned from Gmail in a heartbeat.
- calista17, on 12/14/2007, -2/+15mp3.com got SUED INTO THE GROUND for something similar, so good luck with that
- inactive, on 12/14/2007, -0/+9I didn't think that much heavy metal existed.
- TomP, on 12/14/2007, -6/+13Your probably gonna lose your gmail account doing this so make a spare just incase.
- sherbertbones, on 12/14/2007, -0/+7Yeah, there have been many cases of Google shutting down email accounts for this, but not only the one you exploit, but all the ones linked to that account.
- smurfz, on 12/14/2007, -0/+5Hope the RIAA doesn't try goin to Google asking to see what music everyone is playing =x
- VileTimes, on 12/14/2007, -1/+6Oh, who cares. Gmail is for email and whatever else I can think of by using Gspace, and that most certainly does not include a 20gig repository of MP3's.
If I want my music readily accessible wherever I go, I'll invest in an external hard drive mount and go dumpster-diving for a 40gig hard drive. The few dollars I'd spend on the external mount would easily be made up with the extra storage space available and hey! no lag ever!
Dugg down for "I be l33t"-spam which couldn't possibly be beneficial to anyone, even someone who begs on a street corner for a living. - unusualbob, on 12/14/2007, -1/+52.5GB
am i the only one who thinks this must be outdated, i have over 5GB available - Chirp08, on 12/14/2007, -0/+3Time invite some friends, and by friends I mean me.
Well not really, I'm a consultant so i use my mbp at home and work, my itunes is always available, this could be useful in a school lab though if you dont have an ipod/zune - JamesMorris, on 12/14/2007, -4/+6Get out of your basement more fag.
- WhiteHamster, on 12/14/2007, -0/+2yeah i have close to six too
- imbob, on 12/14/2007, -0/+1So......... Google has way more money than silly old mp3.com MUHAHAHAHAHA!
- VileTimes, on 12/14/2007, -0/+1Sorry, but I fail to see how my making a very simple, obvious statement constitutes a troll.
Can I interest you in a 20 gig hard drive, netizen? - mitchlourens, on 12/14/2007, -0/+1okay boys, stop fighting!
- mDJstudios, on 12/18/2007, -0/+1You can still have your music + playlists anywhere you go if you have vibestreamer.com set up correctly.
- DorothyLaudie, on 12/14/2007, -0/+1lifehacker is a trusted website....
- imbob, on 12/14/2007, -0/+1I dont care its all free!!! only downside is AD'S :(
- inactive, on 12/14/2007, -1/+2byried
- clickwir, on 12/14/2007, -0/+1Anyone have a copy of this info that's not blog spam?
- hmunkey, on 12/14/2007, -0/+1Not blatant advertising...
- sq2shooter, on 12/14/2007, -2/+3This is a sign of the ADHD generation. Now even incapable of checking email without having music in the background.
- VileTimes, on 12/14/2007, -0/+1Have you ever heard of box.net? How about rapidshare.com? How about marvelous devices such as USB keys and external hard drives?
If you can give even one example where such a "service" by Google, if it is truly something which they endorse without having to "jump through hoops" like the article states, is any more efficient in terms of storage space, bandwidth, or accessibility (I don't need to be on the internet to listen to my MP3's on my laptop in the car with my external HD), then I invite you to educate me.
Until that moment arrives, I hope you'll forgive me if I paint you as the unquestioning Google-ite that you truly are. There are FAR more efficient methods to have 20 gigs worth of music readily available anywhere. The fact that you refuse to acknowledge this betrays your irrational Google fanboy-ism. - hmunkey, on 12/14/2007, -0/+1This isn't made by a company intentionally. It's a loop that someone found.

- akkibaba, on 12/14/2007, -1/+1Sir, the fact that storage is cheap is not the point here. The point is that Gmail service that has been extended by some enterprising folks to do something that quite a few of us will use. There's no reason to use hyperbole like "...couldn't possibly be beneficial to anyone". How do you speak for everyone on the internet?
- truspect0r, on 12/14/2007, -1/+1Good way to abuse google by putting those emo music of yours.
- theOster, on 12/14/2007, -1/+1agreed. - buried for being evil.
- defwheezer, on 12/14/2007, -1/+1I CANT HEAR UR COMMENT!!!- hang on, my music is up too loud... now, what was I just going to say... hmphf (//turns music back up...) lah lah-lah lah lah...
- akkibaba, on 12/14/2007, -1/+1Irrational Google fanboy? Where did I praise Google or Gmail? I only praised the folks who made the extension. This has nothing to do with Gmail specifically. Also, tone down the hyperbole.
- akkibaba, on 12/14/2007, -3/+2The troll is hungry and demands to be fed!
- ripstuntz, on 12/14/2007, -3/+225 gigs of music :)
+1 Google - Chirp08, on 12/14/2007, -3/+1Bandwidth on that level probably costs them pennies in the long run. Google makes money, any isp that can deliver google can make money, hence there are always going to be deals and incentives for companies of that size, bandwidth is not an issue, just flat out abuse of service
- BassXXX, on 12/14/2007, -4/+2Everyday diggers prove that they're idiots.
Todays proof is brought to you by the Gmail syndrome. - rdaly92, on 12/14/2007, -3/+1google is one step closer to ruling the world.
- thewhits, on 12/14/2007, -4/+2it's down
- braveryonions, on 12/14/2007, -4/+1old
- TheCheeks, on 12/14/2007, -7/+2i would need a little over 19 gmail account to host all my music :/
- schestowitz, on 12/14/2007, -13/+3Just wait until the RIAA ruins /that/ nirvana. Haven't they just put their malice inside Western Digital hard drives?

What is Digg?
