- inactive, on 07/06/2009, -1/+13Innovative? I remember making a digital clock out of a potato and potting soil in science class back in 1994.
- omgwtflawl, on 07/06/2009, -1/+10Well that isn't really a dirt-powered clock, is it? That is a "chemical reaction between copper and zinc" powered clock. Guess that doesn't sound as "green".
- SoundJudgment, on 07/06/2009, -0/+7I guess the Potato Clock has finally fallen out of favor.

- dbissig, on 07/06/2009, -0/+3looking at the title, this was first thought that came to mind:
"An hourglass?" - detcade, on 07/06/2009, -0/+3Those were some terrible puns in the description
- DirtPile, on 07/06/2009, -0/+3My dirt clock got worms and had to be composted.
- Sepeteus, on 07/06/2009, -1/+4Yes, but then it seems to run very slow and the alarm goes off every day at 4:20.

- inactive, on 07/06/2009, -0/+2Stronger than dirt.
- one1plus1one, on 07/06/2009, -0/+2"as nothing whatsoever to do with the mud."
So are you saying that the zinc and copper in plain air (or a complete vacuum) would perform just as well?
If it requires a medium (such as mud, water, or dirt, or even a potato) then it would be incorrect to say that it has absolutely "nothing whatsoever to do with mud" as the mud is still a factor. - assr, on 07/06/2009, -1/+2"The natural metabolism of biological life produces enough electricity to keep the clock working."
WRONG!
The power comes from the metal, and has nothing whatsoever to do with the mud. It's a zinc and copper powered clock, not a dirt powered clock. - repaul20, on 07/05/2009, -0/+1I have always loved playing in the dirt! Now that it can assist me in being more punctual I love it even more!
- one1plus1one, on 07/06/2009, -0/+1Ya, wasn't the potato clock doing this long before the dirt-clock?
I remember watching "Mr. Wizard" on Nickelodeon in the 1980's, making a potato clock.
Not to sling mud on this issue... as I kinda thought Mr. Wizard's idea was half-baked at the time... but it seems that this dirt clock is just re-inventing that same wheel. - b5200, on 07/06/2009, -1/+1Wtf is it with people and finding new ways to power clocks? Although I have to admit this isn't as bad as the blood fueled clock that eats flies... that thing scares me *****.
- fragMasterFlash, on 07/06/2009, -2/+2So if you want to be really eco-friendly you have got to earn your red, erm make that mud wings?
- TFTanner, on 07/06/2009, -1/+1C-C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!!!!!!! amidoin it rite?
