- netdroid9, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13I call them LEDOs.
- Misanthrope, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I'm already dreading how much my fingers will be hurting over the weekend.
- geminitojanus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6An LED is a Light Emitting Diode, it's just a special case of diode where the semiconductor material throws off light when it's conducting.
Some LEDs do have integrated resistors, others don't. In this case, it doesn't matter because you're powering it from a coin-cell which is not capable of generating enough current to destroy the LED; all throwing the resistor into that circuit does is make the LED less bright (and can affect battery life). - isuisorisuaint, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8why does the headless horseman have a head?
- gen2ux, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Lego's + LED's = very cool!
- TTSkipper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Try a rotary tool with a small engraving or carving bit. Work slowly because if you heat up the bit it will melt the plastic and make a mess of things.

damn it, vendread beat me by 13 min, and scuzzman by 9 min - kerby74, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The headless horseman was human headless, he had a pumpkin for a head.
- kingd0m, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Amazing can you have them work in your fish tank?
- crilen007, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Or a hot blade. Get your knife or whatever really hot and it should melt right in.
- magical1492, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Heh, thats really cool. Digg.
- scuzzman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Getting a 403.

Pretty cool idea though. Wouldn't mind giving it a shot. - crilen007, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Just dip it in some clear coat model paint for a minute then take it out, or paint the whole thing in it. Make sure its oil based, and let it dry before putting in water. (24 hours min)
- geminitojanus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Throw some hot glue around them and sure, good to go. I'm not sure how the fish would like it, but electrically it should be sound as long as it's water proof.
- MindTrigger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Dremels rock, and they don't cost much anymore. I use mine for so many different things that it's paid for itself 1000 times over.

c-3po with battery inside the torso - thelimopit, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Is "hack" synonymous with "break"?

- Bob042, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If you coated the whole thing in something waterproof, or put it in a container or something you could, but the horseman model on the page has an exposed battery, so you couldn't just dunk the thing in.
- resplence, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Was just about to ask that.
- itanshi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1we just had this under a different name, although this is better than the other one.
- wjw75, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I think he said "hack", when what he really meant was "put".
- waz67, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1and dugg to death...
Interesting that they attach the LED leads directly to the battery, I thought you had to have some sort of resistor or other electronics there too... - ThorAx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0-_-;
- strictnein, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1"I thought you had to have some sort of resistor"
What do you think an LED is?
http://www.kpsec.freeuk.com/components/led.htm#calculate - darrin, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Yes, you should have a 220 or 330 ohm resister in series with the LED to limit the current. Else, you're just going to burn out the LED.
- scuzzman, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Damnit... Beaten to the punch by vandread :-)
- bsolidgold, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1How to "hack" them in, eh? Don't you mean to say "Hey guys, I figured out how to put these LEDs in my Lego men!" followed by "My 13th birthday is next week, who wants an invitation to my party?"
Hack? There's no 'hacking' involved. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1how to hack the FBI by placing LEDs into stuff?
is this the least hacked hack ever? i've seen more advanced work at my local flea market. - pinker, on 10/12/2007, -7/+0I love u lisa
