- armbar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+76It had better fly like a stealth bomber if it's going to take 35 steps to fold it.
- m.b., on 10/12/2007, -5/+7435 steps is too many for me.
I like this one:
1) get paper
2) crumple into ball
3) throw at nearest person - sremick, on 10/12/2007, -11/+36Agreed, people can't seem to get enough of duping this:

- armbar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17"I was making this airplane since I was 6 years old (I'm 25 now)."
19 years to make a paper airplane? You must have OCD. - wqwert, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15A video of these folds (fta)

- kofspades, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17i don't appreciate your disparaging comments toward people with attention deficit. i have severe ADHD, and have had it as long as i can remember, and i have been... screw it. I'm going to go do something else.
- NoMercyGTP, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10That is why it loops so well, It is always turning it's nose up at you.

You know, that horse is not only dead, but you've now pounded it into horse pudding. I never saw this before, because apparently I don't spend enough of my day obsessing over catching everything on Digg's front page. If it bothers you that much maybe you need to get out more. Digg's front page is a lot more fluid than, say, /. It's easy to miss all kinds of stuff.
Like NBC used to say: If you haven't seen it, it's new to you. - NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I found this thing a few years ago, in college. I built one, I call it Golden Boy, that flew about 50 yards. He got thrown too much and died, and I've never been able to duplicate that performance... Ah, the amazing things that small-college-town boredom will drive you to...
- dggeek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I've got one sitting on my desk that I made about 6 months ago (was this on digg before? i wonder where i found it). It depends on how you make your folds and tears. Mine is pretty weird. It'll fly straight up out of your hand and do a loop, then glide gently to the ground.
- eplawless, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10it has a scoop to it. I may have folded it wrong, but if I throw it as hard as I can at about a 25 degree angle down, it swoops up across the entire house. I'm going to go outside, at 2am, to throw it down the street. It's neat.
- cyrix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8"now that's office warfare at its finest! i'm kinda partial to the rubber band offense myself though..."
You'd love this then... http://www.iwantoneofthose.com/GATGUN_TOYS.htm - ginty, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1135 steps??? All the ADD kids will never see this one come to fruition.
- geepee, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9flies pretty good! I just went outside at 3:44am and tossed it a few times until it landed in a puddle.
- SteelGator, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Uh, it already exists:

"It had better fly like a stealth bomber if it's going to take 35 steps to fold it."
--------------------------------------------------
In the classical sense, stealth bombers are very difficult to fly. The flying wing concept they use is dynamically unstable. This means that the bombers require constant correction of its control surfaces via a computer to keep them from flying out of control.
IMO, if it took 35 steps to complete, it better not require a microcontroller to keep it stable. - ahhell, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6That's cheating.
- nairanvac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3You're on Digg, man, of course we're nerdy....
- Ibox, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6what are you lifeless retards worried so much about DUPE stories. the only reason you would know this has been here before is if you never leve the house and study digg all day. for many people here this is the first time they've seen it.
------ oops! Dupe commit------- LOLOL hahaha - Ireland, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I made one of these from directions on a newspaper when I was 9, I had forgotten how to make it. Now is my chance to be young again! Thanks.
- AngryPenguin47, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Actually flight was first accomplished by two Americans, fellow Hoosiers to be exact, perhaps you've heard of them....Orville and Wilbur Wright?
Frenchies... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Just cut some small flaps into the wings and bend them up slightly, worked for me.
- Spoonicus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3A paper plane very similar to this was described in a "Rupert" book from the early 1950's. the construction is exactly the same sans the tail section. hows that for useless trivia.
- earlysound, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I agree with Jay... I got the step 16-18 and threw the damn thing in the recycling. Maybe I need to learn some patience...
- LegendarySock, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I made one, took about five or 10 minutes
I threw it, it flew amazingly, better than any of the crappy planes i used to build - Ireland, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"This story was front page a few months ago..."
It's not a story, and it's not news, but who cares cause it's a damn good plane! - Flump5000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i still cant do it! i get lost on step 19
- whackaxe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2steps 16-17-18 were a total wtf for me :(
- rocke86, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Mine ended up in a gutter! Was cool when flying inside, a light throw sends it gliding slowly across the room.
- id000001, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I can't get 16 - 17 neither. the animated gif and the flash animation was absolutely no help.
I can't check the google video yet. I might try it later when I can check it. - Cyborg771, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I remember the last time this showed up on digg. I spent a god day of my life trying to build this thing. So much wasted paper.
- generalleoff, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I used to build those back in Jr. High. Mine wasn't exactly the same though and it used a paper clip on the nose and a popsicle stick in the tail fuselage. The weight and rigidness with the reinforcements made them fly super far.
- zephc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3at step 30 it looks kinda like a Goa'uld Death Glider.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I think I am going to have an aneurysm trying to get steps 18 and 19 finished correctly
- matts0344, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Well I just made it. Mine sucks, it just dives to the ground. I'm sure its just me though.
- wqwert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2mine came out looking like a stingray, and flew only marginally better...
- pereira, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2My dad taught me how to make these a long time ago... :) When I saw the first 3 pics I instantly recognized it. But mines always seemed to fly better without the tail (without steps 22-24).
"And by the way, "landing gears?" what? where are they?"
You probably got step 27 wrong and your landing gear is "inside the cockpit"... :) - fanboydcs, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3damn, I seriously have been building these since I was a kid, I even made a book when I was 10 on how to make paper airplanes, and this was on the cover!
If I only knew how nerdy you guys were I would have posted this months ago! =)
You guys should also try it with out folding it in the center, so its shapped more like a steath bomber. and fold up the sides, IT makes it into a really cool glidder that does tricks. - mrmidgetman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I so totally just made this out of card stock and climbed on a second story rooftop. It flew well over 100 feet into the woods.
- JayBachatero, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I am stuck on steps 16-17-18. Forget this sht.
- magicjj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Bah I've been doing this since before I discovered digg. They complicated it a lot though, it isn't that hard to build (even though 35 steps seems like a lot). It does fly really well if you do it right.
- matts0344, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah it gets confusing. Theres a video on google video though of the guy doing it if you need more clarification.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2768368762284821227&q=paper+airplane - NextGenXbox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yey I figured it out. +1 for me!
- lucask, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2haha "the scouts".
/killself - aperkins01096, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Used to make these stopping at step #27 about 40 years ago (yes, in the 60's). We'd hold them by the back putting our index finger on the crease, pinching with the thumb and middlefinger on either side of the crease underneath. I love the modifications! I've got to try it with the rest of the steps and the tail. Nice touch with the "landing gear"!
- NextGenXbox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm stuck in step 18 with that weird fold.
- an0nym0us, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I came.
- RiZZLiCiOUS, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Learn to take a joke.
