Are you kidding? This is like "circuitry" for the legally retarded. No dig. - psylence, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Anyone retarded enough to need this will likely cut their entire hand off while removing the solder mask.
- Restrikted, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I agree with automagically. I knew about circuit hijacking but I didn't know how to do it. +Digg
- green1152, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Here's a good link to some circuit bending for speak and spells:
http://www.anti-theory.com/soundart/circuitbend/cb01.html - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Its a simple hack, but good to know. It might provoke someone who never modded something to give it a try. Just don't destroy too many NES controllers people, its been done to death!
- Drumrboy247, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1i agree with Chris F...
i could do this also... called "common sense"....
no digg - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Bah...
- tomakun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm not sure if this is really "hijacking". I've used techniques like this before after doing a board run and finding mistakes. Instead of spending a couple hundred dollars to get new boards it is easier to cut traces and solder wires to get your boards to work.
- TurdFergeson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Gotta go with Chris F and others, I was excited by the title to possibly see some use full information, like how an xbox/ps2 is modded (a real hijack or hack) but not this. Time to queue up the argument i just had at http://digg.com/hardware/How-To:_Make_a_CAT5_cable_(and_variants)
While I give this one more credit, because it's not absolute kiddie stuff, the page itself only shows one use full picture and covers a stupid topic. The actual images from the project blog itself at http://www.zerosign.net/?p=5 are more interesting. But still, I would rather have seen a project that uses an ATMEL or PIC uController and IR Led replace the original remote. But hey, to each his own.
Personally no Digg because this is childs play to me, but I give this a lot more credit than how to crimp ends to a CAT5 cable.... - victorycig, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0OK, while this might not be interesting for a pro, it's good beginner material. Digg.
Anyone who thinks it's too simple might want to check out Reed Ghazala's book, Circuit Bending (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0764588877/qid=1136055873/sr=11-1/ref=sr_11_1/104-3082928-9655155?n=283155). He walks readers through projects for making musical instruments out of various devices, and goes beyond the how-to: he teaches and encourages readers to experiment and bend things of their own design. - utch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wow, really simple explanation of complicated issue +Digg
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0if you want to hijack some hardware for mods look for chips with unused pins and hook up the gates or whatever to do something useful, and I don't mean lights. If I want a light in my case I would just cram in a table lamp with a red bulb.
- xioner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I figured this stuff out on my own a few months ago...
But not everyone know it or is willing to mess around enough to figure it so +digg - Regnak, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I digg it because I'd never thought about doing this... while it's not a difficult concept, I think there are probably plenty of people like me; I might actually try "hacking" or "hijacking" or "modding" - whatever you wanna call it - something myself now... gotta think of something interesting though.
- leadingzero, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0the main reson i wrote this was that I was getting ALOT of emails asking me to better explain the NES remote hack. I know this is very basic for some, but thats why i put the disclaimer in there. This is for BEGINNERS. Just because you didn't learn anything from it doesn't mean that other people (without EE degrees) didn't.

- browell172, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Nice plug for your blog dude. no digg
- cypher35, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0LAME!
The title caught my eye, but the article is ridiculous... I've done "hacks" like this before (calling them hacks or "hijacking" is really stretching it), and all i needed was a soldering iron and a little common sense. - mushoo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Absolutely agree with Chris.
This is ***** common sense.

What is Digg?
