- Quactaur, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18No risks really. Unlocking it means you can put any networks' simcard into your phone and expect it to work just fine.
- EricDraven, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16A word of caution though... please do not be too trusting and simply enter vital info like your phone's IMEI in just any website. There is an outside chance that everytime someone does so, you may be contributing to a list of valid IMEI codes that other unscrupulous people may use to change their own phone's IMEI code to (no disrespect to the website mentioned, but hey... it's well within the realm of possibility). This aids in enabling phones that may have been locked after being reported stolen, for example.
- toddomatic, on 05/20/2008, -0/+12What benefit do I get from unlocking my phone? Any risks?
- elephantdog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Howardforums.com doesn't have more details- in fact they specifically prohibit discussing unlocking phones.
- bikerboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Thank you so much!
I just unlocked 2 phones. My moms 3120 and a old 6110 i had lying around.
Worked like a charm.
Much appreciated. - CovardeAnonimo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7georgiecasey, operators around the world are keeping a list of stolen phones' IMEIs. phones with blacklisted IMEIs can't connect to any carrier that checks the list. if you give your IMEI to a random website, they can use it to change the IMEI of a stolen handset and "whitelist" it.
you'll end up as an unknowing accessory to cellphone theft. - joeym, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Unfortunately, that's not going to be possible Sprint and Cingular use two very different technologies. If it were possible to unlock a Sprint phone in the first place, which for the most part it isn't. The only other carrier available would be Verizon.
Sprint = CDMA
Cingular = GSM - KingDaveRa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5So, the cynic in me is saying that putting my IMEI into a random website is not really a good idea...
Maybe I just don't trust people enough. - elephantdog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4For samsung:
http://www.lur.nu/unlock/samsung.php - JakeMcMahon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Stop eating sugar from the bag.
- staceyeileen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4If you are a T-mobile customer, they will unlock your phone for you at no charge and without questions asked. They're just nice like that.
- JackCrowley, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4actually they can't be unlocked because the provider who sells them to you on a plan/prepaid what ever such as Optus/vodafone locks them with a carrier specific code, which will require you to ask them for the code to unlock your phone. Basically there is no way to unlock these phones ( BB5) without talking to your carrier at the moment.
- Quactaur, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Is there anything similar (i.e. free, without cables or the like) for Sony ericcson phones?
- ridgelawrence, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Take a nap or something.
- syl1985, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Just unlocked a 6101 :D brilliant link, just in time! thanks!
- robche, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3id love for some info on the algorithm used to create the codes... anyone know any info on it?
- Acill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I can also vouch for t-mobile unlocking your phone. I've had it done with every phone from them I ever owned. Just tell them your travel over seas if you want to speed it up.
- Streblo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Worked like a charm on my 3650. I tried the 7th code first, didn't work. But the first one did. Awesome
- brian8, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is nice if you have the old nokia phones.. i wish they'd release a calculator for the new/latest nokia phones..i.e. N70 N93 etc.
- andywhitt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If your putting sim cards from in different networks in, then it is more than likely unlocked.
- republicoftexas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Anyone know if you can unlock a sanyo phone? I want it to work with cingular since it I switched from sprint.
- Acill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Worked on the older free T-mobile 6010 (I used the 6020 in the list) using the first number listed! Thanks a lot.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I just unlocked a nokia 1600 without revealing my real IMEI number, here's how:
As an example if you got the following IMEI number, 350673108495297, change the last number, 7 in this case, to a 6 and use the modified IMEI number to get the unlock code. Save the unlock codes to review them later and run the generator again with a second IMEI number with again changing the last number, to an 8 for example.
Now Compare the two results and if both IMEI numbers generated the same unlock codes you're in business without revealing your real unlock code.
Goog luck! - distrbnce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hey, I have a question.
I have a Nokia, it's a little older, but I'm not sure of the model (it's one of those silver/beige ones)
It was beat up, and I found another one that was the same model but in much better shape. I put the SIM card in the new one, and it works for the most part. Only thing is sometimes I have to "reboot" it to get it to receive calls and txts. Like it'll just stop receiving them until I reboot it.
Think unlocking it will help?
Also, why would I benefit from unlocking an old one? - Saoshyant, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I know this digg is for Nokia phones, but is there any site similar to this for Siemens phones?
I checked the lur.nu one here, but they don't have unlocking codes for my Siemens. - mindwar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16630/6680/ and N series apparently cant be unlocked. hardware thing as far as i understand
- Sh0ck4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Glorious site, used it about a week ago to unlock 2 6620's to put on ebay...
- Xanin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1can't unlock my 6630 either :/
- jaikar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I can place any SIM I want in my Nokia! So what's the benefit of unlocking it? Or is it already unlocked?
- r2builder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sweet, just unlocked my old Nokia 3510i. Will need to find a use for it now!
- rivviepop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The 6236i / Verizon is CDMA, not GSM technologies. All this talk of unlocking is for GSM type handsets, whereby we can swap SIMs in and out of any phone at will. With Verizon, Sprint, and other CDMA carriers the world doesn't work the same -- the ESN of your handset is what's tied to the carrier's tower, not the SIM chip IMEI.
- doctabu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just tried it with my 6682 from Cingular.
Tried it to the limit. Nothing.
I really hope mindwar was right about it not working anyway. - rauz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Still nothing for my 6630 :(
- mergaltroid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Not sure if this is the right thing, but on sanyo phones to get into the 'mdn service programming' menu you input ##726[last 3 digits of phone model number]#
for example on my sanyo 5600 the code would be "##726600#'
not sure if this is the same thing as the article is about, but it can be useful. - ceeam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hehe... unlocking. Here in Russia all the phones are sold unlocked. Phones - cool phones - are expensive but service rates are cheap (so far). Well - at least one thing can be right here, can't it?
- Glatz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have a 6010 too and using the 6020 code works as well.
- brakk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just call your provider and tell them that you are going out of the country and just want to buy a prepaid card when you get there. They will give you the unlock code and walk you through entering it. T-Mobile does Im sure others will.
- brakk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Makes it easier to sell on Ebay after you upgrade since it can be used with any service.
- malfunktion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1you'll have to pull out about 120 pounds (or cancellation fee) to have it unlocked, or 15 once your contract is over, which is just ridiculous
- brakk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Did the same thing with T-mobile. Just tell them that you are going overseas and you want to buy a prepaid card when you get there to save roaming fees.
hotice: My tmobile phone worked in Montreal a couple of years ago. I even got a text message when I turned it on in the airport that said "welcome to Canada" - speedyrev, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thanks! that works. Apparantly altering the last digit on my model doesn't matter.
- sngx1275, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No codes for a 6102.
- orangekid13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1damn, i missed the "try #7 first, 5 bad tries and you're screwed" thing, i tried 1-5 and now 6 and 7 should work but it won't let me... *****
- mookieXL, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Old? Beige? Probably 3510. I'm just going to unlock one i'll tell you then.
- Zane, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No codes for a 6030. Lame.
- doctabu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, seems as though you're right (I read a bit more about it and found the same thing).
Thanks anyway! - fd77, on 12/15/2008, -0/+0I have Nokia 1200 v3.44 but not on the list. Can I unlock my hp?
- nshop2, on 12/18/2008, -0/+0Here u can get the wonderful unlocker for Nokia BB5 phones.
http://store.payloadz.com/go?id=74676 - pkmi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0good the universal password machine
- fosho, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i have a nokia 3595 and it won't allow my other sim card. so i was hopin if anyone could give me the restriction code in order for it to work .
