- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0don't the rebates usually take "forever" to get the check in the mail? that's how it is with most of these things.
- vertigoblue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0and what does this allow you to do?
voip it with skype and suck or just allow you to use another companies service? - herozup, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0OK.. noob to subject. What is this going to do?
- jmack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That's all well and good, but it's only for brand new out of the box PAP2's. Doesn't help us existing users!
- brucebeh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0um. on the rebate.. it saids you need a vonage account #.... i dont get it
- TimWalker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What I don't "get" is why the "submitter" uses "quotations" for no "apparent" reason. Otherwise, cool find... sure to show up in 2600.
- jonesin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What's unlocking it do?
- mbookbay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0For those unfamiliar with Trivial FTP, it's different than regular FTP and you need a special server, such as this free one here: http://www.solarwinds.net/Tools/Free_tools/TFTP_Server/
- Wolfman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Can anybody confirm this method works? Because I've been waiting a long time for somebody to finally crack the damn thing, if it works lets all go out and buy a ton of these cheap suckers, I paid $65 for a Sipura unlocked alternative, when if the damn PAP2 werent locked to vonage I'd have bought one of them for $20.
- dhughes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0 I just cancelled my Vonage account yesterday and was thinking this VoIp router thing must be good for something!
- t35t0r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It looks like it's out of stock in my area. But what else can I do with this box if I don't want to use it for VOIP (cause I think it sucks atm from what others who have had it have told me)
- mrblankone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If you've wanted to play around with the open source PBX Asterisk, this device would be a great way to connect an analog phone to it. I've been wanting to learn more about VoIP and SIP, so I'll be trying to find one of these today :)
- k3rnel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yes, definitely cool, but how is it useful? What is the point of unlocking this? Just so you can use it with a different provider?
- ramsc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+01) Staples online rebates are by far the fastest I've used. Sometimes as quickly as 2 weeks. The checks come mailed like a postcard - weird.
2) Really - what CAN you do with this after unlocking. I'm pretty geeky, but this is a new concept to me.
3) To:jmack
Sounds like if you do a "reset" it'll be just like "out of the box" ?? - tmanka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0OK I unlock it then what? I need to config it somehow right?
- JamesWilson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0pretty router... someone do the research for us and find out the cheapest way to get ahold of one..
i don't have a staples near me, yet of course I'd like to use their rebate if possible, or any other rebates for the PAP2.
Ideas? - Cubsfan24, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You can price match these to Best Buy who has them for $34.99. Get paid to take these. Limit 5 on the easy rebates BTW.
- Cubsfan24, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You do not need to subscribe to Vonage to get the $50.00 easy rebate.
- joehorn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i see nothing in the terms and conditions for the $50 rebate
- joehorn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0does it require it for the staples form and the vonage form or just the staples form?
- devnulljapan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Damn, the rebate form from
Staples in Canada comes with a requirement for a Vonage subscription.
"$65 mail-in rebate*!
Requires subscription to Vonage service.
*Expires December 31, 2005. "
Still... - devnulljapan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Staples rebate form defintiely says "Requires subscription to Vonage service" and requires an account No. How does this fit with TFA's "You do not have to sign up for Vonage service! Free ATA/PAP2!"
- einsteindesign, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Why do people bitch about waiting 8 weeks to get paid?! Want it for free? Time is the price. They keep your money for a period of time, then you get it back. Who gives a flying ***** WHY they keep it, if your paperwork is in order, you WILL get paid.
