- Andir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yeah...thus the failure it itself. If you get a solicitation call for the local newspaper, you let the vagrant in your complex.
- Toyman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So every time the phone rings the door opens?
- culebra, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0looks cool, but you have to have a buzzer system already setup. The next coolest thing I have saw online was this. Looks pretty sweet, and easy.
- clouder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0first paragraph was worth the digg alone for me
- rosemat2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0neat idea, could it be spread to other locks too?
- kubedawg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0what if i lose my cell phone or leave it inside? will it have a mechanism to locate it if lost like a gps system of some sort? or will it NOT lock the doors and allow you to then manually lock it yourself with a key?
- gkwait, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Good job. Not sure if this is a dupe, but either way I digg, cause this just rocks the house (or rings the house, not sure).
- antiTRACE, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"He is running it voip. In theory he could setup his own PBX on his phone line and with a regular call it would just through to his fone, but with one of a certain extension (much like a pin number) he could then open the door that way. The only thing I didn't like was the fees to do it, but I'll digg it for the sheer desire."
-OR better yet, have the home phone (voip) also call the cell phone (e.g. simularing), and he can buzz himself in via his own cell phone w/o even doing all this wiring. Still, I digg it for effort. - Otto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Or just do what I do. Have the door intercom programmed to call my cell phone. I can buzz people into my building from across the country if I like. They still can't get into my apartment without the keys, admittedly.
I've not seen many apartment complexes with entry systems like this that still use hardwired door buzzers. Most of them hook to the phone system and simply call whatever person is programmed into the thing. - squeevey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0He is running it voip. - modbox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I made a mod for my xbox once, turning it on/off via my cell phone, pictures and video here: http://www.xb-t.com/gallery/search.php?search_user=MOdbOX The same concept could be used for doors, and its free.
- newmind, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thief opens door from payphone. Techie gets "sheep of the year" award. Plus, isn't a dedicated phone line for this cost prohibitive.
- SpookyMan, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0More Stupid Geek ***** That Means Absolutely Nothing To The Human Cause. How Does This Crap Make It On The Front Page?
