- KloroFormd, on 10/06/2008, -4/+47"Last month Adam showed you six Firefox extensions that enable Chrome's best features"
I seen no V8, nor did I see each tab running as a separate process. - JaySwizzy, on 10/06/2008, -1/+42i still like firefox better :O
- wtfheadexplody, on 10/06/2008, -1/+34So... which extension makes Firefox render pages more quickly on the WebKit engine? Don't get me wrong, I use Firefox and Chrome side-by-side with Chrome as my default and Firefox whenever Chrome isn't fit, but Chrome runs so much more smoothly and installing 10 extensions on Firefox wouldn't make it Chrome.
- xB4R7x, on 10/06/2008, -3/+26I like turtles.
- iPoul, on 10/06/2008, -3/+24And why would you want to take something and turn it into something else, if you can get the "something else" already ?
- inactive, on 10/06/2008, -4/+21I like the Google Chrome look (at least on Vista). Having the Google Chrome look and FF3 functionality = win for me. Dugg.
- ZernanToledo, on 10/06/2008, -2/+16BUT WHY
- p3ngwin, on 10/06/2008, -1/+11if you want V8 performance, use "trunk" nightlies and enable "tracermonkey"
it's FF's way of speeding up Javascript to obscene levels. - DeathJux, on 10/06/2008, -3/+12Ron Paul's iPhone was found in Barack McCain's HuffingtonPost while Vista sucked off Tina Palin's banned MrBabyMan?
(am i doin it rite?) - gamepr0, on 10/06/2008, -0/+9because you may like the layout and some functionality but dislike the rest of chrome like me =)
- Appox, on 10/06/2008, -0/+8Not really, I run a lot of those extensions and I haven't noticed any change.
- BugMeNot2, on 10/06/2008, -5/+12I accidentally your go-cart while rick-rolling your guy, pal.
- carlskov, on 10/06/2008, -1/+7Install a nightly build and enable tracemonkey by setting:
javascript.options.jit.chrome = true
javascript.options.jit.content = true
in the about:config options - 007isbond1, on 10/06/2008, -0/+5me
- Sup3rSh3ep, on 10/06/2008, -0/+4does this include the ability to make a tab into a new window by dragging it?
and if so which extension does that? that's all i want. - p3ngwin, on 10/06/2008, -0/+4The word of literary champions...
/fixed - diggtochina, on 10/06/2008, -0/+4this is dumb
- ParanoydAndroid, on 10/06/2008, -0/+4In Soviet Russian, I am your guy, buddy.
- benroy, on 10/06/2008, -1/+4Why would anyone want to turn a Porsche into a Honda?
- MattyDienhoff, on 10/06/2008, -0/+3Because Firefox is far more modular and has hundreds of plugins, by combining the look of Chrome with Firefox's functionality, you can have the best of both worlds.
- voodoochilli, on 10/06/2008, -0/+3The question is - why? What's the point, just use Chrome or Firefox not some weird mutant hybrid offspring!
- linagee, on 10/06/2008, -1/+4But no optimization of Javascript...
- citizensARREST, on 10/06/2008, -1/+4Why would you want to?
- Sammy20, on 10/06/2008, -1/+3I would like a Firefox extension that clones Chromes history display. I like how it shows it all one page, and separates by date.
- television, on 10/06/2008, -0/+2me
- DRC1, on 10/06/2008, -0/+2WHY?
- ashwin18, on 10/06/2008, -0/+2Try this:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/481 ... - kingfoot, on 10/06/2008, -1/+3os x
- fearphage, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2It depends on the extension really. Some are known to cause performance hits like firebug.
- TheOther1, on 10/06/2008, -0/+2The cake is a lie.
- qbthemc, on 10/06/2008, -0/+2I am not your buddy pal.
- Kyora, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2...But you use IE?
- thecosmicpope, on 10/06/2008, -0/+2Good article, but the experimental ChromiGlass addon seems to be displaying the tabs upside down for a lot of people (like the tab bar was still under the bookmarks bar). Good start, needs some bugs fixed.
And why do people find it so difficult to understand that some people like the Chrome UI, but want the functionality of Firefox? - frozeninside, on 10/06/2008, -0/+2I don't need to turn my Firefox browser into a Google Chrome, but I guess turning Google Chrome into a Firefox is a good idea!
- ckasprzak, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1Sexelent!!!
- mrmayor92, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1is there an extension so whn you drag a tab out of the firefox window it creates another window??
its the only thing i like about chrome... - p3ngwin, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1yes.
- Spikeli27, on 10/06/2008, -0/+1me
- earlvanze, on 10/06/2008, -0/+1That's what she said.
- glutamate, on 10/06/2008, -0/+1That's a misrepresentation of reality, iPoul. You can only get some of the "something else".
- Zippo, on 10/06/2008, -1/+2I'd rather the opposite... Google Chrome on my Mac with the Firefox 3 theme.
- megadupek, on 10/06/2008, -0/+1Why should I give my Internet usage data to Google? I stick with Firefox, the best browser ever.
- Altanar, on 10/06/2008, -0/+1And better crash handling.
- Dunhamzzz, on 10/06/2008, -0/+1Ditto. Other than that (aside from speed) Chrome has nothing on FF.
- naisanza, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1wheres the addon to let you drag tabs out of the tab-bar and automatically makes it a new window?
- ParanoydAndroid, on 10/06/2008, -0/+1I'd rather have both on my computer, readily accessible (well, technically 3, since I use IE for microsoft.com). It's not like the internet police come to your house if you don't choose just one browser for the rest of your life.
The rest of you can be browser monogamous, but damnit I'm young and I'm going to live a little. I don't even care if they find out about each-other. - matt.rubin, on 10/06/2008, -0/+1this is why firefox is better. You can do whatever you want with it with a huge user base.
- djphazer, on 10/06/2008, -1/+2I agree... I think it would be more useful to turn Chrome into more of a Firefox clone, since it's the invisible backend stuff that makes Chrome so great, but Firefox's extensibility and whatnot is why it has been the choice browser for so long.
- andreo, on 10/06/2008, -0/+1The only Chrome feature that I really want in Firefox is separate processes for each tab. And the ability to see what tab is going nuts when when I notice performance issues that the browser is causing.
Everything else, especially the user interface, is just stuff that I would have to get used to or wouldn't really use. -
