- StealTheRR, on 02/13/2008, -4/+74Perhaps, if your child is on the verge of joining a gang, you have bigger things to worry about than what what websites he (or she) is visiting. Might want to look at that unstable household and lack of role models sometime.
- Waskonator, on 02/13/2008, -2/+33I remember 10 years ago, when there use to be TELEPHONE chat rooms that you could call. This happened all the time. I actually witnessed an argument where one gang member explained that he was on his way to the other gang members house to kill him, RIGHT NOW. And then he hung up. Gangs are silly...
He's probably dead though. - LANjackal, on 02/13/2008, -2/+32This article sounds like typical primetime newscast scaremongering. It follows the standard formula of panicking over some subset of: kids, the internet, sex, violence. Buried.
- angusm, on 02/13/2008, -0/+24The one thing that future gang members need to know is this: even if you are now in some bad-ass street gang, even if you carry a gun and talk tough, if you joined up through someone's Myspace or Xanga, you are nevertheless a dork. What's more the people who run Myspace know that you originally went there to download pictures of Hannah Montana. And when your punk ass lands in prison, your first friend Tom is going to let all your new homeboys see that embarrassing "friendz4ever" message you sent to the fat chick with braces who let you download her Justin Timberlake MP3s. Just saying ...
- scoottie, on 02/13/2008, -4/+20what you want people to actually take responsibility?
- djfatalerror, on 02/13/2008, -1/+16Greatest quote in the whole story
"Also, real violence on you tube is not allowed," the statement continued. "If a video shows someone getting hurt, attacked or humiliated it will be removed." (Epic Fail) - inactive, on 02/13/2008, -1/+15Gangs are for dumbasses.
- wheresjim, on 02/13/2008, -0/+13Yeah, a bunch of them wanted me to join over Facebook because I'm pretty good with a bow staff...
- Ganja420, on 02/13/2008, -0/+11we gonna drive-by slashdot. know what I'm sayin....

- inactive, on 02/13/2008, -2/+10why the hell can't i picture a gang/gangster on myspace....
yo homie, get a myspace we'll hook you up dawg.. myspace.com/gangs-4-lyfe-gdawg - neodorian, on 02/13/2008, -0/+6Oh noes!! The Childrenz!!
It's not like all of us here weren't kids at some point. Lots of diggers probably still are. The vast majority of us turned out fine and not gang-scum because we know how to think and see the consequences. This blame the music/media/video games ***** has got to stop. If your kid is dumb enough to get recruited to a gang via myspace then you have failed as a parent. - merreborn, on 02/14/2008, -0/+5No, it's totally true. I downloaded a tupac MP3, and all the sudden I got this IM from a guy named 'thug4L1F3' asking if I wanted to join his gang.
He said first, I had to friend him on myspace. - sgtpppr, on 02/14/2008, -0/+5Fortunately, the Internet provides us the ability to compare the positives and negatives of each gang's compensation and other perks such as signing bonuses and/or hoes. It's allowed me to pick the gang that best fits my schedule and addresses my unique needs as an individual.
- Typhoon2009, on 02/13/2008, -0/+5..."To Catch A Gangsta"?
- Crath, on 02/13/2008, -1/+6What a stupid theory.
- FLLawLibrarian, on 02/13/2008, -0/+5I am digging you up, just for the fact that you have little to no morals and the balls to admit it.
- Versh, on 02/14/2008, -0/+4hahaha, I know the feeling... I come from a rough bunch of message boards, if you don't check your avatar, you could get PM'ed with a message in all caps! It's hard, but I get by... the internet is dangerous son!
- diggit23, on 02/13/2008, -0/+4Facebook 4 Life
- ghostrc, on 02/13/2008, -0/+4Do I have to fill out an application form to join a gang?
- xtinamo, on 02/13/2008, -3/+7This article is right on the money. My 13 year old sister joined myspace and three days later she was killed in a gang war. Be careful friends.
- moxley, on 02/13/2008, -0/+4Are you ***** kidding me?
Yet more "Be scared of the evil internets" ***** - they are trying to get people to beg the government to "protect them" and "police the internet."
This is such *****. Even if it's true, social network recruiting is a lot less effecting and a lot less dangerous than face to face recruiting....Please. This is retarded.
And the idiot compared this to the actions of Hitler and Hitler youth?
If we're talking about parallels between the third reich and today's America I probably don;t have to even point them out to many of the people on Digg - because I know a lot of you are away of them.
Why isn't CBS5 talking about the parallels between the laws and directives this administration and our ***** 97% ***** congress has passed like NSPD51 and the stuff that the third reich did? We're in the same boat as Germany was in the 30s, yet if you get all of your news from the MSM you wouldn't even know it.
- holygram, on 02/13/2008, -2/+5Coming from someone with little to no morals at all, its really ***** up the way gangs prey on kids.
- Versh, on 02/14/2008, -0/+3Actually, wouldn't it be Diggas' ?
:] - geegel, on 02/14/2008, -0/+3Not to be a wiseass, but are the two facts you mentioned linked in any fashion?
- fcekuahd, on 02/13/2008, -1/+4If you want to be a full patch member.

- Bender1012, on 02/13/2008, -0/+2funny, I dugg this for those reasons. I don't think I'm the only one whose first response to this was, "LOL".
- spyd3rweb, on 02/13/2008, -2/+4censorship ftl.
- toxicityj, on 02/13/2008, -0/+2Yo join the Crips. We hardcore gangstas and we gotchyo back. Make sure to check out our facebook group and the kill the Bloods application!
- inchrnt, on 02/13/2008, -1/+3let's attack the symptom and ignore the cause
that'll work .... - Busterwolf1176, on 02/13/2008, -0/+2I wanna see the red and blue themes on myspace....
- SleepingOrange, on 02/13/2008, -0/+2sometimes, that's not really all that far from the truth. What the heck do you think vandalism is?
Here in Calgary, some kid was beat to death by a large group of kids outside a mac's convienience store. It was in a 'safe' neighbourhood, and as far as anyone can tell, totally random.
Last year, more than 10 similar incidents happened in random neighbourhoods by random groups of kids. None resulted in deaths, but this doesn't even include the vandalism that happens on an hourly basis here. - popnwave, on 02/14/2008, -0/+2Uh, did someone just get home from their sociology class? Talk about throwing around words....
- econojon, on 02/14/2008, -0/+2Crips and the Bloods have nothing on Anonymous. Anonymous will tear them to pieces online!
- fcekuahd, on 02/13/2008, -2/+4Well these are the *nerd* gangs that are muscling into the territory.
- pnmoore, on 02/13/2008, -0/+2Using your logic email should be censored by the ISP's, similar to how companies filter email on their servers, because you wouldn't want any ISP to be unwittingly enabling any illegal activity. Oh yeah, then you have to censor what is talked about on the phone,
same reason. And what is written in letters through the mail (God forbid that the government unwittingly enable anything illegal through the mail). And what is written in books, and what we talk about at work (wouldn't want our company to be unwittingly enabling us to plan anything illicit on company time)....bottom line, it is HOW these things are used not the things themselves. It is not the government's place to play nanny for parents that won't pay any attention to what their kids are doing.
When is this country going to start realizing that most of our problems are that people will not take any responsibility for ANYTHING they do. It is always somebody else's fault that their kids (or they themselves) are screwed up. LOOK IN THE MIRROR! - makkaveli19, on 02/13/2008, -0/+2well isn't gang a group of people? my teacher used to always say "hello gang"
- Hetman, on 02/13/2008, -1/+3Let see what the internet is responsible for these days. Pedophile check gang bangers check God hating athiests check Christine hating jihadists check government hating socialist check pornoaholics check gay dating sites check crazy ass teens shooting schools up check evilloutionists check pro drug crowd check global warming nuts Check Damn it is a wonder government even allows us to get on this evil device that is the intertubes. It is single handedly responsible for all the evils in society. I sure wish I lived in the 1940s the world was such a peaceful place back then.
- Pahtcub, on 02/14/2008, -0/+2They need to make a homosexuality tab and put this post under it.
- mizatt, on 02/13/2008, -1/+3CRIP APPLICATION FORM
1. a) Do you believe that a real crip has to be born a crip, or that they can become one later in life? - tribalab, on 02/13/2008, -0/+1"It's really no different than the way Hitler recruited Hitler youth with the pageantry and the uniforms..."
look at the US ARMY ads, this is a weak comparison. We build video games, glorify flying jets, and driving hummers to get our kids to sign up. What's the matter with a lil friendly competition, huh? Everything happens online now... - cl2yp71c, on 02/13/2008, -1/+2Fail.
Clan leaders have more charisma than gang ones. - unorginalityftw, on 02/13/2008, -0/+1Blasphemy!
