- flashpitt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11I prefer the contrast of the photo of the girl before he messed with it.
Also I would probably use the shadow/highlight for most of this. - fluffypancake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Using his technique (select color range, feathering. and levels) might make the picture look OK zoomed-out, but in close-up you'll have black fringing all over your image.
- jb3designs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4If you're a Photoshop CS2 user you can just save yourself 4 more minutes and use the Shadow/Highlight adjustment.
- charliekwin, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Really, this is Basic Photoshop 101. If you insist on doing it his way, at least use an adjustment layer.
Just duplicate your layer and play with the blend mode instead or try the shadow/highlight tool. - crash331, on 10/12/2007, -6/+8I didn't watch it, but it was just a video on levels? What are we, in kindergarden?
- KnightWhoSaysNi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Is there a mirror for the video?

- gameboyhippo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I thought it was pretty good. I'm a programmer, not a designer. I don't mess with the graphics normally. So tutorials like this are great for people like me.
- Double-Z, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4All I learned form that video is that I really don't like Josh.

burried... the author (and story submitter) didn't reference the GIF media, nor did they mean to. RTFA. - chrism1128, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm glad he posted this. Some of the better suggestions put forth by a few people (pompus though they might be) were good.
If that's what it takes to get to some good results that's fine. - DCstewieG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow! Woooosh!! Sorry, I guess everyone's sarcasm detector missed that one...

levels: learn 'em, or don't bother
edit: covered in the vid, but yeah... - psyphen, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4GOD THAT GUY IS ANNOYING

Doofus. - costumegal, on 03/21/2008, -0/+0I think the video is a great idea. I had been looking for a solution to these issues, and found that many text postings put things in the wrong order, or referred to the right tool, but in the wrong pull down menu (We all make that mistake sometimes when explaining things). This made it very clear, and helped me with a very common problem.
- BrokenBeta, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Wow, you're right and you're both being dugg down. Congratulations everyone!
- petroK, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"jiffy" - "fy" + "..." = DCstewieG sounding kinda silly
- Norminator, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Looks like it is borked.
- BrokenBeta, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Get Quicktime Alternative then.
- drpatter, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5I would probably trust this instructional vid more if he didn't show himself. Homeboy needs a hair cut.
- TPrime, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3Useful information. Not all of us can be a Photoshop guru like so many of you digg users out there...
- Gregd, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4@southerdigger.
Haha...I was thinking that same thing. Try watching the first few minutes of that video at 05:00 hours. woah.. - asurroca, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4We Digg users are mostly geeks; I think we all already know how to do this simple stuff. Sheesh.
buried for being lame. - idesign, on 10/12/2007, -10/+6wow thats pretty basic stuff man... i should start doing tuts if people find this kind of thing informative.
no digg! - mjar81, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3Sounds like this guy came up with a means of compensating for being a lousy photographer.
Lame.
What's up with that guy's hair? - onelikeseabass, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2ditto.. it never ceases to amaze me how many tools frequent this site
ok, so you know something about a program, congratulations. Your knowledge != everyone elses - maklershed, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3Seeing that comment and your avatar made me think of ... "sink activate!"
- SouthernDigger, on 10/12/2007, -10/+3If you want to get weirded out just play the first 2 seconds of the video over and over again. Good ol' Josh is creepy.
- DCstewieG, on 10/12/2007, -24/+2It's spelled "gif" and maybe even pronounced that way but it will NOT fix your pictures, I guarantee you that much.
