- goatrandy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+39 Heh. I did this once, but he missed out on the REAL secret. You don't use 'beans'. My way costs half as much, and makes a MUCH more comfortable 'chair'.
I made a 'poofy chair' using leftovers from a local re-upholsters. Usually they PAY someone to take the left over shredded foam cushion stuff away. So if you just go ask them they'll usually either give it to you for free, or charge you a minimal fee based on weight. The best part is that it comes pre-shredded, to make ideal chair filler.
I found one local outfit that had a ton of the stuff, and filled my trunk and backseat with it for the cost of gas. My friend Adam and I almost choked to death on the little bits that escaped from a hole in one of the garbage bags, but it was worth it.
It made THE most comfortable chair in the world, much better than your average bean bag, and came 'pre-shredded' because that's the only way the recyclers take it.
I can't sew, so I paid a neighborhood widow woman $10 to make me a nice bag out of $10 worth of denim from the local sewing supply place.
It made the MOST comfortable gaming chair ever devised by god or man. Friends would come over, and refuse to leave. Even arthritic old women would sit in it, and love it.
If my damn cat hadn't pissed on it, I would still be using it right now. That denim is tough stuff. I once watched a co-ed nekkid wrasslin match break out on the damn thing, and it didn't even think about tear-ing. - tizz66, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13If there was a naked wrestling match going on on my home-made sofa, I wouldn't give a crap if they tore it!
- goatrandy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12@Bhima - Use Denim, and it doesn't do that. It'll stay 'like-new' for years. Other clothe types have too much stretch, in my experience.
Denim wears well, and matches almost any home decor (Oh God! I just used the word Decor! Mod me down, for the love of God!). - lodravah, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12How about making one for all floorspace in your entire house.. Never have to get on you feet again.. Just rolling along whenever you need to move..
- KYDS3K, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9please tell me the co-ed naked wrestling match didn't involve the arthritic old woman . . .
- cody50, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8You've got arthiritic old women hanging out at your house? Lucky.

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I loaded up this page...and in the Google ads on the right...was an ad for "CornHoleOutlet.com"
/me falls over laughing - SpacemanSpiff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Looks like he should apply some of that creative energy towards finishing his basement.
- yorch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4or you can send about a 1000 of self stamped envelopes to request a "sample" of the tempur-pedic material, those sure would do a cool beanbag!...LOL
- crawfishsoul, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Gotta love their tagline, "don't plan a party without yours..."
The ellipsis makes it better. - SugeKnight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Actually...there is a company out of Gainsville, Florida and they make a product called "Corda-Roys". They make giant bean bag chairs/beds. They are extremely comfortable and cost about $150 - $220, depending on if you want a double bed or a king. I think queens were $180. I'm not sure if they have a website or not, but if you want a realistic sized chair/bed, I would tell you to take a look.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Good idea :)
- Rmez, on 04/15/2008, -0/+0I have The LoveSac BigOne... That thing is way big & available... They ship it to you shrunk down 1/6 its original size so you can get it through the door...
https://www.lovesac.com/ - BobTheBiker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm a little late to this party, but there's another site that sells the Corda-Roy's bean bag chair/bed too. It's called BagTheBed. I think they sell them for less there or offer an extra premium when you buy from there. These bean bag chairs are much less expensive than the LoveSac and the really cool thing is that when you take the cover off, the inside becomes a spare bed. You can wrestle on it with the cover on (like a bean bag chair with foam inside), or off (as in a king, queen, or full-size mattress). I use the spare bed for friends. It's much better than a sleeper sofa.
- snakeman01, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I read about this on http://www.salesofas.com at the time. If only I had enough money...
- crawfishsoul, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Hell, mod my link above down. Love Sac's are great if you have a grand to blow on one, but after reading goatrandy's post above, it's nearly the same damn thing and for $990 less.
- Bhima, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3*****, that is the most incomprehensible website I've ever seen...
do they sell something or what? - Bhima, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1That is exactly what I was thinking... if you are going to spend the time to make it why use expanded styropore?
Now to resolve the taking over all of the available floor space issue and I'll make one.
