- ovni, on 10/12/2007, -26/+57Dude, Legos is not the preferred nomenclature. LEGO bricks, please.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Wikipedia:
The LEGO Group's name has become so synonymous with its flagship toy that many use "Legos" or "Lego" (collectively) to refer to the bricks themselves, though the Lego Group considers such uses to be trademark dilution. Lego catalogues in the 1970s and 1980s contained a note that read:
"The word LEGO® is a brand name and is very special to all of us in the LEGO Group Companies. We would sincerely like your help in keeping it special. Please always refer to our bricks as 'LEGO Bricks or Toys' and not 'LEGOS.' By doing so, you will be helping to protect and preserve a brand of which we are very proud and that stands for quality the world over. Thank you! Susan Williams, Consumer Services."
A similar message also appeared to everyone who errantly visited http://www.legos.com/ in the year 2005, however it was removed within the next several months.
"Lego" is officially written in all uppercase letters. The company asserts that to protect its brand name, the word Lego must always be used as an adjective, as in "LEGO set," "LEGO products," "LEGO universe," and so forth. Nevertheless, such corporate admonitions are frequently ignored and the word lego is commonly used not only as a noun to refer to Lego bricks, but also as a generic term referring to any kind of interlocking toy brick. - bab7880, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12The force is strong with Lady Liberty
- tribalsun, on 10/12/2007, -15/+23Damn building block Nazis & please don't post the stupid wiki about the "proper" name. I hate reading that crap every time a LEGO/LEGOS submission makes the homepage. Just enjoy the damn pictures!
- ChumpChief, on 10/12/2007, -6/+14Dugg just for the comments he makes on his sculptures
- DThenar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6It's a story, not a crisis
- drboggs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Good god, the names of companies that aren't famous for any more than one product get mixed up with the name of their main product ALL the time. Get over it, LEGO bricks people (above and below).
Do you seriously not know what people are talking about when they say they saw "a lot of Fords and Toyotas" in the parking lot? Do you stare in confusion when your non-geek friends say that they "got an IBM"? What if, god forbid, someone uses the name as a verb...are you baffled when somebody asks you to "FedEx a package"? - hamstereater, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5You're right, apostrophes would be wrong; it should be oreos, kleenix, and legos.
- techlinks, on 10/12/2007, -8/+12People seem to take it non seriously because it's a "toy" but it's every bit as wrong as SHEEPS!
Damn old people. - mrmorris, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Well I can recommend a visit for any of the 4 Lego Land parks in the world, if you wish to see giant and ambitious Lego projects and models:

- markdr123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Precisely. Legoland Windsor is awesome.
- kingfoot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2the iwo jima replica is a very cool one.
- edein, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The John Lennon piece is interesting. How did they get the mouth to be like that..floating lego?
edit: nm..."I reconstructed that sketch out of bricks and then suspended the pieces on almost non-visible strings " - Sesse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Those are nothing. I made a house for me out of Lego bricks and I live it in now. Unfortunately it doesn't have plumbing and heating.
- monosyth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3OREO cookies - not OREO's
Kleenix tissues - not Kleenix's
LEGO bricks - not LEGO's
get it now? - it's a brand, not an object. - ovni, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You can buy bricks directly from the LEGO website. They even have software you can download to design and price your own model.

- KMartSheriff, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It's a misspelling/grammatical error, not the end of the world
- josman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If this Henry Lim is such a genious why does his website use the "LEGOS" pluralization? And what's a 'culpture'?
- ardnut, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1...but darn expensive.
- IceBoxCake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think Henry Lim's work is much better...
(Check out his WORKING harpsichord!)
http://www.henrylim.org/LEGOSculptures.html - MrViklund, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nice. But please... Stop use the word "amazing" in the title.
- ebenthurston, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1it may technically be lego bricks but every kid i know said legos back in the day. ever hear a 5 year old ask you to play with his lego bricks? no. no you haven't.
- Depthfunction, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm not impressed. I've seen a lot better posted to Digg before.
- mechanisma22, on 01/09/2009, -0/+1"stary night" in lego is a must for my wall
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I would love to have a lot of LEGO blocks but nowadays the only way I find them is in small kits for Star Wars and other similar kits. Does anyone know where I can get some blocks (just blocks) from and how much it would cost me for enough to build a computer case?
- mitrebox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1perhaps a Lego category isn't far behind.
- hamstereater, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Chill out bud. excuse us for not saying LEGO © Bricks and Toys™ every time, its just a habit from when we were kids.
- Soldierboi, on 05/09/2008, -1/+1My generation, MTV Generation, had the coolest toys growing up. :)
- nfinity1989, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0He's not married, although I know he was engaged before his time working at Lego. She was, while they were engaged, to my knowledge supportive of his hobby.
I personally prefer his Lennon Tribute. - Ninjab3ar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Should it even be in Technology? I say Offbeat News.
- SirBotchness, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Cool, very cool.
- someguyinbrown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow, that guy has WAY to much time on his hands ... wonder what his wife thinks? ;-)
- jamthehut, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0waaaaay better. something like Star Wars Statue of Liberty isn't art, or even mildy interesting if that is what one chooses as the definition.
- techlinks, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1at drboogs:
What I mean is the person should say "made out of Lego", bricks isn't necessary, but NO S IS ALLOWED. - ridd1e, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Nice pics :)
- Phil246, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1this isnt a mod. Buried as wrong topic ( if anything it should be in design )
- DeFex, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0AAARGH stop saying LEGOS does it say LEGOS on the box?
- mindspace, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3Old news
No Digg! - HDhandyman, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4Gotta love the people who sit around and get upset about proper pluralization of the word Lego. Why don't you losers try getting laid sometime?
So the poster ***** up a little bit.... I think he was just trying to submit something that you guys would like. What a bunch of snob losers! - trylleklovn, on 10/12/2007, -14/+8Sorry, nothing personal but i bury any comment where the submitter is an idiot.
- abrasion, on 10/12/2007, -16/+8HOW UR SHEEPS?
Goddamn LEGO! - mashuppodcast, on 10/12/2007, -31/+18Totally agree, it annoys me hearing the word legos used, The plural of sheep is sheep, the plural of lego is lego, you never hear the word over here in the UK, but I hear it alot on US specific stuff, podcasts, tv shows etc. I know it's a bit petty but it just annoys me :)
Oh and the pictures are really cool! - tangledweb, on 10/12/2007, -24/+7Sorry. Nothing personal, but I bury any Lego story where the submitter thinks the plural of Lego is Legos.
Go out on the road and play in some traffics. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -22/+0THE GUY IS A LOSER
