- greenbox, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17what do you do if the chocolate printer gets jammed?
- thecoolestcow, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16Number one: That was stupidly off-topic
Number two: It's "Damn it feels good to be a gangsta" - FuzzyCat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14
Perhaps he doesn't like the taste of wax. - elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14"what do you do if the chocolate printer gets jammed? "
I'm not exactly sure how jam and chocolate tastes, but it sounds like it would taste good. - dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11I agree. Where's this "3D"? Since when was printing on a flat medium like PAPER a 3D task?
- comeonpriitk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Just watch the last two videos. The first two aren't that interesting.
- ferggo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10That is pretty lame... It isn't 3D at all...
I'm a big fan of LEGO, but this isn't really impressive; let's see someone make a REAL 3D chocolate printer. - Timsher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4This story was made for digg, First you have a 3d printer (+1diggpoint for neat near-future technology) ... and then it's made out of legos (+1diggpoint for creating something out of little plastic blocks)... plus it uses chocolate(+1diggpoint for unique and tasty medium) :) Now all we need is for it to use linux, cost $100 dollars to make at home, and have the MPAA/RIAA trying to shut it down to have the perfect digg story.
- rc_collins, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6how about a real wax printer. Why did he pick chocolate as his medium?
--dan - boredzo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I thought this meant printing onto an existing piece of chocolate.
"The KitKat candy bar has the name 'KitKat' imprinted into the chocolate. That robs you of chocolate! That's a clever chocolate-saving technique. I'll go down to the factory, 'You owe me some letters!'"
-- Mitch Hedberg - Prometheus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4With all the talk about poop, couldn't you have picked a different word than squirt?
- VikOlliver, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4We're working on an extrusion system that will include the ability to squirt chocolate:
http://reprap.org
Currently we only squirt plastic and low melting point solder:

Vik :v) - CrioKnight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This might have been noteworth if not for the incomplete instruction and his misplaced hope that someone might recreate it. Why. It was missing the Z axis control and a temp control.
Go figure. - WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Ohhh...I wish there was a site that mainly had tech-related stories, and not stuff about toys and children's games.....
Are those days gone? Well, at least I did experience a few months of digg as TECH site!. - retral, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3This fails to impress me.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4They need to learn about video compresion!
- Osjpr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2hahaha the greenbox / fatlip / chicken101 / thecoolestcow... sequence was very lol to read. wd guys!
- freonchill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i dont get the 3D part, i see 2d programmable matrix printing...
though i think its cool, its like the original "programmable" technic set that had a model which allowed you to write on paper. i wonder if this system heats the chocolate in the reservoir. - renegade334, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1elnerdo writes:

You ever had a lamington? Come to Australia. Mmmmm Lamington... Mmmmm lego made jammed chocolate - heresy_fnord, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2You eat it and try again?
- bndocksnt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2this is somewhat interesting. that being said, i would not have bothered to comment at all if not for the large number of "poop" related comments. seriously, that might be the saddest thing i've ever seen. jokes are fine, "pc load nestle" made me laugh. reading the word "poop" in sentences of varying context did nothing for me at all besides produce frustration.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5"My mom ate my homework"
- retral, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Technically anything with height/width/depth is 3d.
- saumanahaii, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@ all of those who said that this isn't a 3d printer: why is a 3d printer that prints 2d layers not still a 3d printer? Does not an ink jet printer build 2d images one line at a time? Why would a 3d printer not print one layer at a time?
But his hope someone will recreate it is not misplaced. I am currently designing my own 3d printing sys, which while it will probably never actually get completed (I lose motivation first) would probably be based off the same idea as this one. For Z axis control, all it would need is to be able to load several vectored images at a time, each representing a layer, and have an incremented drop down before each new image. A motor and a computer. Its a great idea, though I first want to build the 3d scanner off of that site.
BTW, old news, its been on that site for quite a while. Still cool though. - ejectMedia, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6Well, a poop printer wouldn't get as much attention, would it?
- jmack, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1You know you have too much time on your hands when...
- etruscan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1lick it!
- vince, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1dupe?
- Jugalator, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Hehe, that's an awesome news title :-)
- wolver1ne, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0So where's 3D? :S
People should really learn to come up with better titles. Too many diggs have misleading titles. - tw0bit, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2thats retarded... the third video shows it better but the first 2 are very bad
- trinest, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1haahaa mad
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2"I did this project a long time ago so the documentation is incomplete, but hopefully it will inspire someone to rebuild it and fill in the blanks."
Why? Why do they always say this?
For *****'s sake, finish the job, you moron! - redInk, on 10/12/2007, -6/+0Two things to say:
(1) This guy has too much time on his hands.
(2) This is f'n awsome! - agash, on 10/12/2007, -6/+0nm, delete
- cogent, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2I knew I saw this somewhere before!
Slashdot anyone? http://hardware.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=04/09/10/1221251 - chicken101, on 10/12/2007, -10/+3Sweet. Bang bang tish!
- k4st, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2Would be nice if the vids were .mov or flash.
- chicken101, on 10/12/2007, -47/+6God it feels good to be a gansta!
