110CFM Laptop Cooler

tacticalgamer.com — Dissatisfied with generic laptop coolers, I decided to implement something like a cold-air and/or ram-air intake on a car. This mod pumps up to 110 CFM through the CPU and GPU heatsink's on my Dell E1705. Before, my Geforce Go 7800 was clocked at 250 MHz and peaked at nearly 80°C under load. Now, I'm able to hit 370 MHz without breaking 68°C!

  • mentat, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I actually wanted to build something like this for my iBook. I had never thought of using PVC piping, though. But, in my opnion, this is superior to conventional laptop coolers since they just move air across the surface of your laptop, or more commonly just suck it down and away (not even across). They don't solve the real problem of laptop cooling, that that's airflow inside of these amazingly cramped cases. Awesome, man. Awesome.
