- onlysc, on 04/10/2009, -1/+12microsoft could use yahoo!'s help with their ad network. if msn didn't pre-install their serp into pc's, then they prob wouldn't get any searches at all!
- poprocksandsoda, on 04/11/2009, -1/+7Yahoo! is forever going to be remembered as the single biggest collapse in Internet history. Whoever put that clown in charge who decided against the Microsoft deal has the mental capacity of a chimpanzee.
- inactive, on 04/11/2009, -0/+4Digg lost at least $5 million last year. And at this point, investors are probably getting ansty. The site has been around for too long to not only not make a profit but to have no idea how to start. So they had to try something like this.
- IFEice, on 04/11/2009, -0/+4I like wlm.
- illustratorart, on 04/11/2009, -1/+4Great !!!
so finelly a new monster born in the internet market after Google
i think this is will bring more benefict to internet users!! - e2superman, on 04/11/2009, -0/+3Dude. Opt-Out is ***** up. It should be Opt-IN.
I did not ask for this blasted content stealing thing to be placed on every page I link to. Also guests to Digg have NO OPTION. OPT F'ING IN DIGG!! - travbrack, on 04/11/2009, -1/+4Pre-Google Yahoo search technology circa 1999 + Windows Live Search = Google competitor? What?
- inactive, on 04/11/2009, -0/+3The greedy Yang messed it up for Yahoo! . Now that he's gone, some serious business can begin. I think Microsoft should buy out Yahoo & integrate a lot of their services. They would become the largest webmail provider, Instant messenger provider and lots of other services..
- IFEice, on 04/12/2009, -1/+4Jerry Yang is anything but competent.
Microsoft did not back out, they were rejected. - Wrangler76, on 04/12/2009, -0/+2They said they were going to back out when Yahoo came running back to them. This had been going on for many months where the deal was on or off the table. Only the mainstream tech news websites started running the story when it got to the point where Microsoft walked away "permanently". Thus, we got guys like you 2 thinking that Yahoo was completely foolish for rejecting the deal, when there was much more going on.
Like I said, well-played Microsoft.
On a side note, this reminds me of the union/corporate battles of the Big 3. the unions have lost the media war, while the exec of GM/Ford/Chrysler gets to flourish in their mounds of money while the workers take the main cuts. Nobody cares about that of course. Sad. - e2superman, on 04/11/2009, -1/+3Yahoo really seems to be behind the curve... and not getting any better.
on a side note,
Can I say, ***** the DiggBar?! Why do they want to hide another sites url when I link to go there. Also, WTF with them adding an AD to the banner on another persons website. Is Digg hurting for money that bad or are they just losing their morality? - Wrangler76, on 04/11/2009, -1/+3The entire Yahoo board rejected the deal. They wanted $37. The "clowns" (Filo & Yang) wanted $38 and MS only offered $33. I thought Microsoft completely backed out of any deal... they really do change their public stance every month. Well-played though. They forced out the competent CEO, won the investor/PR war, and now Yahoo will be a Microsoft dog and will slowly die out or be absorbed.
- e2superman, on 04/11/2009, -0/+2This actually makes sense. Sad but true.
- ddadmin2009, on 07/29/2009, -0/+2Wow! Finally Microsoft has reached a deal Yahoo for an internet search partnership. Will the newly announced deal between giants Microsoft and Yahoo be a good thing? Got to wait and see. But atleast Microsoft and Yahoo deal is straightforward and not complex at all and ofcourse, the negotiation talks have been going for long. I was just curious to know all the past negotiations between Microsoft and Yahoo so collected all the articles and links (more than 200) related to the current merger and the previous events or negotiations between Microsoft and Yahoo. If you are interested check the link below.

- nkassi, on 04/12/2009, -1/+2And this is good for the Internet HOW?
- afizzledbear, on 04/11/2009, -1/+2you can hide the diggbar
- Myztry, on 04/12/2009, -1/+2Microsoft was never going to back out completely. There are reliant on positon and the leverage that provide.
If Microsoft doesn't get into a new leveragable position now that the desktop is loosing relevance then you can forget them as a major player in the future. - Myztry, on 04/12/2009, -2/+3The definition of fail: Being the default provider in a world full of lazy people - and still getting your arse kicked.
- Ttech2, on 04/11/2009, -2/+2..
- Leahkimberly, on 07/31/2009, -0/+0Its pretty interesting to hear what people think: http://www.thestreet.com/video/index.html#31399107 ...
- Wayfarer12, on 04/11/2009, -1/+1NO NO NO!
- Myztry, on 04/12/2009, -2/+2"Microsoft seems to have also moved on, working on a massive redesign and relaunch of its search brand, under the internal name Kumo."
So the LIVE Search brand dies and joins Hotmail, MSN, NET, Passport, Windows (Messenger), LiveID,etc - Who even knows what their brand is anymore since it's failed and been dumped so many times... - Dumbledorito, on 04/11/2009, -2/+2 A dark hall below Silicon Valley. Two old men in battered regalia approach a rough-hewn table. They set their battered briefcases and laptops on the ancient wood, raising dust. Old coffee cups crunch beneath their feet, and the sound of crackling Whopper wrappers echo from the seats as they both take their places.
Though rusty and scarred, a red "Y" still shows on the breastplate of the first who speaks: "The Google. The thrice-damned Google."
The other, sporting a crest of four colored fields arranged in a square tenses at the name but holds his voice steady: "We must put aside our skirmishes... for a decent share price. I mean, come on."
"This day will be longer than I thought..." - nkassi, on 04/12/2009, -2/+2Sun already won that AND Microsoft has no use for 90% of what Yahoo! does. Frankly, it wouldn't be a good match and Microsoft probably realized it wasn't when they left the table the first time. MS doesn't get it and never will. The online world is past their comprehension.
IBM... I mean Microsoft isn't going to become number one even with all of google destroyed. - inactive, on 04/11/2009, -4/+2Thus the epic battle began. Microsoft and Yahoo take on the titan Google for the lordship of Internet search. Many lives were lost and Microsoft and Yahoo had to retreat to their small dominions.
