- LeonDiggsby, on 10/23/2009, -4/+48Right on, so this means no do-over in a couple years? *Awesome*
(no sarcasm tag- was getting bored with all the cool kids complaining about windows constantly...) - twiztidsinz, on 10/24/2009, -2/+45What does the release timeline look like for Apple? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OSX#Versions OSX 10.0 March 24, 2001
OSX 10.1 September 25, 2001 (6 months -- but free)
OSX 10.2 August 23, 2002 (11 months)
OSX 10.3 October 24, 2003 (14 months)
OSX 10.4 April 29, 2005 (18 months)
OSX 10.5 October 26, 2007 (2.5 years)
OSX 10.6 August 28, 2009 (22 months)
And yet, people will some how (try to) spin Windows 7 as Microsoft getting greedy and needing more money for an OS and "Why you should buy a Mac!!" - Floyder, on 10/24/2009, -0/+36MORBO IS PLEASED WITH THE HUMAN VERMON'S INTEREST IN HIS NEW OPERATING SYSTEM!

"Steve Ballmer throws chair over frustration relating to high sales figures" - Raian, on 10/24/2009, -2/+35Was anyone was expecting another response?
- darkNiGHTS, on 10/24/2009, -3/+35Apple only has one flavor of their OS because the cheapest laptop you can run it on is a $1000 MacBook. Microsoft doesn't get as much money per laptop sold because they don't sell their own hardware like Apple does. You might have paid $30 for your upgrade, but I paid hundreds less for my computer.
- twiztidsinz, on 10/24/2009, -1/+24Well... Windows 7 is already off to a MUCH better start than Windows XP.
XP had a horrible launch. There were so many issues with a lack of drivers for anything and everything (hardware vendors problem, not Microsoft). - martyFREEDOM, on 10/24/2009, -0/+20Agreed, Windows 7 is probably the best operating system released by Microsoft at launch. We'll see how things go over time, I have been enjoying it for the last few months I have been using it.
- doublefelix, on 10/23/2009, -3/+22Microsoft should issue a press release or something, what is this product of which they speak?
- ayeroxor, on 10/24/2009, -1/+17"Microsoft really bummed over sales"
Yeah right. That'll be the day an entire city's worth of PR reps gets canned. - Crimeodial, on 10/24/2009, -2/+16Also, starter isn't for retail sale nor is Home Basic or Enterprise. So there's only 3 consumer version.
- elmuerte17, on 10/24/2009, -3/+16Make a bomb like Vista, make something better, and the better product will have pleasing numbers.
- Wisgary, on 10/24/2009, -1/+13*holds fingers*
Eeeexcellent.
/mr burns - AlanCayce, on 10/24/2009, -0/+12wait, what?
- adjohnson916, on 10/24/2009, -2/+14One reason we saw a lot of improvements in Windows 7 was the huge stink we made about Vista. You can buy Windows 7, and you can like it, but never stop pressing Microsoft to make their products better, especially for the price we're paying.

Care to explain the giant OSX 10.6 Delete-all-your-***** files BUG then? 10.6.2 should fix that, but it's not even out yet. - inactive, on 10/24/2009, -3/+13leamanc...just so you know...even today...more people LVOe Windows 7 than are currently using Macs.
More people LOVED Vista than have used EVERY Apple OS combined.
Continue to live in the fantasy world you created for yourself to avoid the reality of your sad life...but in the real world, Microsoft did niot get to be a quarter trillion dollar company because people hate their products.
soopafly...5%.
tidu...those BASTARDS for giving users a CHOICE! - inactive, on 10/24/2009, -4/+13What do-over are you talking about? Thetime period between Vista and Windows 7 was right on par with EVERY OTHER time period except for 1 (XP to Vista) A quick look shows that every new Windows comes out about 3 years after the previous one.
- ayeroxor, on 10/24/2009, -0/+9Sounds like an election I once knew...

http://www.win741.com/ - inactive, on 10/24/2009, -2/+10Windows 2000 was never really considered a true home user OS. So you can't count that. The rest just PROVES my point. The only real bad OS in the bunch was ME. And that is why it was replaced less ONE year later. Not three years like Vista - Windows 7
Botom line is that 3 years is the normal time frame between OSes in Microsoft's eyes. The only difference was when they moved XP up two years. But even with that...if you were to put XP into where it would "normally" have been...around 2003...then the pattern would have continued. 3 years to Vista.
Any way you look at it, this noton that Windows 7 was rushed simply has no facts to back it up. - sanagalrc, on 10/24/2009, -0/+8Sometimes it's a hardware problem, I've had dying video cards BSOD me when gaming before.

Day135/June4th/Thursday: The President gave a speech titled “A New Beginning” at Cairo University in Cairo, Egypt. Among his remarks:
“I've come here to Cairo to seek a new beginning between the United States and Muslims around the world, one based on mutual interest and mutual respect".”
“America is not—and never will be—at war with Islam. We will, however, relentlessly confront violent extremists who pose a grave threat to our security, because we reject the same thing that people of all faiths reject: the killing of innocent men, women, and children. And it is my first duty as President to protect the American people.”
“The enduring faith of over a billion people is so much bigger than the narrow hatred of a few. Islam is not part of the problem in combating violent extremism—it is an important part of promoting peace.”
“Unlike Afghanistan, Iraq was a war of choice that provoked strong differences in my country and around the world.”
“America will defend itself, respectful of the sovereignty of nations and the rule of law. And we will do so in partnership with Muslim communities which are also threatened. The sooner the extremists are isolated and unwelcome in Muslim communities, the sooner we will all be safer.”
“Tomorrow, I will visit Buchenwald, which was part of a network of camps where Jews were enslaved, tortured, shot and gassed to death by the Third Reich. Six million Jews were killed—more than the entire Jewish population of Israel today. Denying that fact is baseless, it is ignorant, and it is hateful.”
“Let there be no doubt: The situation for the Palestinian people is intolerable. And America will not turn our backs on the legitimate Palestinian aspiration for dignity, opportunity, and a state of their own.”
“Violence is a dead end. It is a sign neither of courage nor power to shoot rockets at sleeping children, or to blow up old women on a bus. That's not how moral authority is claimed; that's how it is surrendered.”
“To play a role in fulfilling Palestinian aspirations, to unify the Palestinian people, Hamas must put an end to violence, recognize past agreements, recognize Israel's right to exist.”
“At the same time, Israelis must acknowledge that just as Israel's right to exist cannot be denied, neither can Palestine's. The United States does not accept the legitimacy of continued Israeli settlements. This construction violates previous agreements and undermines efforts to achieve peace. It is time for these settlements to stop.”
“America will align our policies with those who pursue peace, and we will say in public what we say in private to Israelis and Palestinians and Arabs.”
“No system of government can or should be imposed by one nation by any other".But I do have an unyielding belief that all people yearn for certain things: the ability to speak your mind and have a say in how you are governed; confidence in the rule of law and the equal administration of justice; government that is transparent and doesn't steal from the people; the freedom to live as you choose. These are not just American ideas; they are human rights. And that is why we will support them everywhere.”
“There are some who advocate for democracy only when they're out of power; once in power, they are ruthless in suppressing the rights of others. So no matter where it takes hold, government of the people and by the people sets a single standard for all who would hold power: You must maintain your power through consent, not coercion; you must respect the rights of minorities, and participate with a spirit of tolerance and compromise; you must place the interests of your people and the legitimate workings of the political process above your party.”
“It is important for Western countries to avoid impeding Muslim citizens from practicing religion as they see fit, for instance, by dictating what clothes a Muslim woman should wear. We can't disguise hostility towards any religion behind the pretence of liberalism.”
“I am convinced that our daughters can contribute just as much to society as our sons. Our common prosperity will be advanced by allowing all humanity—men and women—to reach their full potential. I do not believe that women must make the same choices as men in order to be equal, and I respect those women who choose to live their lives in traditional roles. But it should be their choice.”
“All of us must recognize that education and innovation will be the currency of the 21st century, and in too many Muslim communities, there remains underinvestment in these areas. I'm emphasizing such investment within my own country. And while America in the past has focused on oil and gas when it comes to this part of the world, we now seek a broader engagement.”
“If we choose to be bound by the past, we will never move forward. And I want to particularly say this to young people of every faith, in every country—you more than anyone, have the ability to reimagine the world, to remake this world.”
“The people of the world can live together in peace. We know that is God's vision. Now that must be our work here on Earth.”
