- orangetiki, on 03/19/2008, -0/+1i'll believe it when I see it. I honestly think Windows is still pushing Vista 100% and doesn't think that XP updates are a good idea. Why make XP better if your trying to convince to upgrade?

Still it's good to have a "bundle" of the post-SP2 updates during reinstalls and such.
I have personally seen a 50 MB RAM usage drop after installing SP3 RC2
Sad to hear that SP3 won't be integrated into MCE & TabletPC editions. However, they have been largely superseded by Vista Home Premium/Business. It is understandable that it will only be integrated for Professional, which is mostly for the convenience of enterprise deployment of SP3 for those institutions that aren't ready/don't want to move to [skip] Vista SP1
As regards enterprise deployment, SP3 introduces some additional authentication stuff for both wired and wireless networking. Most significant among this is what I like to call the "Healthy Handshake". It makes sure that each instance of SP3 that wants access to network resources meets the required standard of the network as regard Windows Updates etc. This kind of thing was already implemented by large institutions to ensure security using third-party solutions or in-house development. Vista integrated this functionality into Windows and now XP will have it too. This allows ease of implementation without penalizing XP machines or requiring separate work for XP and can allow Vista to "sneak in" to an XP-dominated network.
