- gaymathman, on 06/21/2009, -4/+68A simpler option would be to just install Windows 7...
- gjokkel, on 06/21/2009, -4/+55WHAT??? A brand new Windows 7 Calculator?...
Can't wait. - Giac, on 06/21/2009, -2/+38Why not just get the RC? its free for a year
- jemka, on 06/21/2009, -2/+37I don't think these are the selling points for Windows7.
- aizvek, on 06/22/2009, -3/+35I've heard Windows 7 wallpapers are to die for. I wish Vista could also display wallpapers.
- Samueul, on 06/22/2009, -4/+28Actually the new calculator is pretty badass.. .Check it out before you poke fun...
- mparker21311, on 06/22/2009, -6/+25I recently Installed Windows 7, I must say... I'm very impressed.
- nullcodes, on 06/22/2009, -4/+22Next week, how to rice up your used Honda Cvic to get all the features of a new Hyundai Elantra.
- Lorddias, on 06/22/2009, -2/+19Meh, whoever wrote this article seems like he never even used Windows 7. Looks like he just looked at a bunch of "new features" and slapped together a list of third party programs.
- jordanlgta, on 06/22/2009, -1/+17fap fap fap fap
- se7envii, on 06/22/2009, -2/+18Release Candidate
- IllBeBack, on 06/22/2009, -0/+12Last I checked, November is AFTER October. If we were at the end of November, December would be next.
- Technopundit, on 06/22/2009, -2/+14The true test of Windows 7 will be how resistant it is to "bit rot."
Nobody wants to reinstall all their programs and their OS once a year. - inactive, on 06/22/2009, -2/+14It is actually pretty good. Check it out:
http://lifehacker.com/5078756/windows-7s-calculato ... - chaos7, on 06/22/2009, -1/+13what a lame article
- norman619, on 06/22/2009, -1/+13Exactly given that it's more secure than XP, faster than Vista, and doesn't require you to have a high end machine to run.
- Wang, on 06/22/2009, -1/+12Hilarious. The new calculator is "a big part of the new OS" - really? It sounds to me more like it was one of the few features you were able to find a suitable XP/Vista alternative for in order to write this pointless article! Seriously...where's jump lists? where's direct access? where's aero-snap and aero-peek? Where's PlayTo? Where's branch cache? etc etc...
- SpeedSteamBoat, on 06/22/2009, -0/+10Well, it's in Win7. I'm not sure about calling it a "feature."
It's there and works, but the first I heard of it was this article.
It's not exactly a primary selling point or anything. - Myztry, on 06/22/2009, -2/+12These features aren't Operating System features. They are applications bundled with the OS and as such trivially substitutable.
It's not like replacing memory allocation logic, task scheduling or other actual OS features that can't be substituted by applications. - roxgod666, on 06/22/2009, -0/+9It's time for you to understand how software gets here son. It's all through a magical development process.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/07 ... - MarkOfTheDead, on 06/22/2009, -2/+11"...and the great new Windows 7 Calculator are a big part of the new OS"
Unless it divides by zero I don't see the reason to upgrade. - Myztry, on 06/22/2009, -0/+9And it's free for a year in Release Candidate form.
Don't forget to keep your XP serialized certificates for resale to the netbook crowd though. - svensko, on 06/22/2009, -11/+19ISO burning is a feature? Wow... that's sad. :(
- inactive, on 06/22/2009, -0/+8Welcome to antitrust laws. It's extremely hard for microsoft to add features without being sued.
- Gizza, on 06/22/2009, -1/+9MS probably had to jump through several legal hoops to add it. Even so I can still see a few anti-trust issues coming up with the EU in the future. I mean, they get in trouble for including Media Player.
- a7r3ides, on 06/22/2009, -0/+8i didn't know how much i wanted this till you pointed it out. photoshop takes too long to open :(
- sevenalive, on 06/22/2009, -0/+7Win7 has a built in wallpaper changer, thats what those checkboxes are for!!!
- Lionhart, on 06/22/2009, -3/+10Can Windows 7 Paint do layers yet??
- Tenoq, on 06/22/2009, -0/+7TPB?
- LoneWolf01, on 06/22/2009, -4/+11To be fair, everything there is true. Also, you're acting like a snob.
- n4tune8, on 06/22/2009, -0/+7Paint.net . It's what Windows paint should have been.
- MarkOfTheDead, on 06/22/2009, -0/+6I prefer RTFM.
- norman619, on 06/22/2009, -2/+8Same here. My system is a hih end system so Vista ran fine but with Windows 7 it runs so much faster. They did a great job of optimizing it.
- Gizza, on 06/22/2009, -0/+6"antitrust adj : of laws and regulations; designed to protect trade and commerce from unfair business practices"
Exactly what MS got in trouble for, for including Media Player. - inactive, on 06/22/2009, -1/+7They are pretty nice, I haven't even bothered to migrate my wallpapers & changer from Vista over to 7.
- Kazbaeden, on 06/22/2009, -0/+5The calculator in Windows 7 is so robust I don't have to use my TI-89 anymore except for graphing equations. Multi-line support is probably the best new feature, along with conversions.
- Kyrgizion, on 06/22/2009, -2/+7Release Candidate.
- jordanlgta, on 06/22/2009, -2/+7I'm all for Windows 7 when it comes out later this year, but the mention of a better calculator is kind of stupid. I have never needed to use the calculator on Windows more than once a month, and when I do it is never for anything other than addition, subtraction, multiplication or division.
- JGang05, on 06/22/2009, -2/+7I bet it can add, subtract, divide, and multiply.....just a hunch.
- inactive, on 06/22/2009, -6/+11***** you, two of my friends died trying to get Windows 7 wallpapers.
- scarwars, on 06/22/2009, -0/+5Deluxe Paint > MS Paint
- AdmiralAcbar, on 06/22/2009, -0/+5Two words: Programmer Mode.
- Junkyarddawg, on 06/22/2009, -3/+8Or, you could, like, download the FREE Windows 7 beta from Microsoft.
EDIT; Also, all the comments above suck. - danmaxis, on 06/22/2009, -0/+5... and these functions would be performed much faster.
After installing all these apps (specially copernic desktop search) Vista would run like a very fat dude with two buckets of fried chicken - dafin0, on 06/21/2009, -3/+8oh i dont know, i can hardly wait to use the new calculator
- popfrogs2, on 06/22/2009, -1/+6How does "legacy application support" sound? You consumers, never looking at the corporate world where CAD and other specialized apps are not getting ported to Vista. That's where Microsoft's real money is, not on your mom's Inspiron laptop.
- rakeshishere, on 06/22/2009, -0/+4Yes. Just like copy-paste on an iPhone
- Tenoq, on 06/22/2009, -0/+4Retail release isn't the same as RTM, norman619.
*facepalm* - uberduger, on 06/22/2009, -0/+4Shinkou's comment was fantastic and I lol'd.
.
..
...
How was that? - jtray, on 06/22/2009, -0/+4The use of "3rd party" should have been mentioned. A hack to get Windows 7 features is what I was expecting. Bad Title and the article was lacking anything profound.
