It's been nothing but smooth on Windows XP Pro x64, but I've only had a patched system for around 8 hours, knock on wood. But it's looking good so far. - pcgeek101, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Good news! Actually, my WSUS server showed a "Update for Windows 2003 SP2" but SP2 isn't even officially released yet, haha.
Now let's see SP1 for Vista! I just started using Vista at work, and it's great! I found some cool new features that I wasn't even expecting, but I'm holding off on buying it for my PCs at home until some stability issues get sorted out, specifically with things like the nVidia drivers. - Newsdude, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9Seems a bit dated, 11-15-2006 any reason for this?
- JeffH, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Honestly, i'd think the actual release of this SP is right around the corner, so there's really no need to upgrade now and risk the bugs (even on an RC release).
- byronm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They haven't even started beta testing the SP yet.
Expect Home Server or some other products possibly end of summer. NO Vista sp for a while. - byronm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wow, they're actually being consistent with SBS 2003 v2 for a change. No more "please don't install this until the SBS 2003 interopability can be verified" bs.
I'm too busy testing Longhorne and Home server though. - ReallyChili, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3You bought 4 gigs too much RAM on one.
- GrahamStw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1FINAL of SP2 is available now on Windows Update.

I can leave tons of things in memory without a problem (while playing games). It is also somewhat important to populate more slots evenly between the two processor memory banks for effective memory interleaving. Why not just fill them up? It's easier.
@unl1m1t3d - 2 - 7950GX2 cards cost me ~$500. Big whoop. Anyone with the right SLI board can do it. The whole computer was pieced together for under $2k because I almost never buy parts new. I have a passion for the hobby and I'm cheap. - UNL1M1T3D, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@deadsenator "but all play every latest game I throw at them."
With Quad SLI and eight gigs of ram it BETTER play all the latest games. But you know what's the best, my computer plays all the latest games on the market, and I didn't have to spend $4,000+ on my computer. - UNL1M1T3D, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have been using Windows XP Pro x64 for about a year now and have been very happy. This release fixes a lot of issues: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914962
- UNL1M1T3D, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Sources? I would hope they would release a service pack by summer, but I think that is a little unmicrosoft.
- Jammerdelray, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2For those with Vista the first service pack will be out by summer :P
- deadsenator, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Why should I put an RC patch on XP64? I've been running it on several gaming machines for well over a year and they are all very stable and work fine. No OS related crashes that I can think of. I am running 4xSLI, dual-optys and eight gigs of RAM on one. No other oh-ess from Bill has allowed me to exploit my hardware to this degree (and simply play video games). Very minor driver issues on occasion, but all play every latest game I throw at them. I also run two 2003 servers with similar results in the server arena. I am a Linux admin by trade, but because I host LAN parties, I employ Redmond's operating systems to frag my friends in F.E.A.R., Vegas, CoD or CoH. Thanks for that, Bill (I would still love to see more games for Linux). I really liked Windows2K when it came out for these same reasons and was reluctant to run XP, but I can honestly say XP64 is Microsoft's best O/S incarnation so far. My Vista Ultimate disc sits on the shelf waiting to be installed. It will probably be a long while. At least after a (non-RC) SP.
- CocodaMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1What does this include? Does it include useless stuff like WGA or other security checks that x64 versions of XP didn't have before? I'm kinda wondering what the heck it does. X64 been rock solid for me since I installed it a little over a year ago.
- doubleblack, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2My bet is Q1/Q2 2008.
- LeeSoong, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0You mean: 'Good News, Everyone!'

When you complain about all the glitches, then try to fine opensource alternatives. When you fail, please hang yourself.
Seriously. If you want to make a legitimate comment, post it, but saying, haha, I use (Insert other os, (OS X, YOUBUNTOO), shows your lack of life, and wastes everyone's time.
PS: I use Vista, OS X and ubuntu. - alexandreracine, on 10/12/2007, -17/+3I use Ubuntu, but I digg this since all of you Windows users are really gonna need this! :) (yes, this is a joke)
- DDoSAttack, on 10/12/2007, -20/+5I hope it doesn't screw with things like SP2 for XP did. That was a nightmare for awhile, having to either explain to clients what was going on or revert it back to SP1.
(I run Windows Server 2003 EE)
