- Gregac, on 10/23/2009, -12/+43Can we get them with Linux pre-installed?
- jordanlgta, on 10/23/2009, -2/+24It said Microsoft, not Mac.
- Ascus, on 10/23/2009, -0/+17I love articles that seem to go out of their way to avoid links to a source.
- zoomaKabu, on 10/23/2009, -3/+17OK, don't. See that's the difference between Windows and OSX. You can buy a Windows computer from anybody.
- Narishma, on 10/23/2009, -1/+15Let's just hope they don't make the Xbox division build them.
- cave, on 10/23/2009, -6/+14This is a really good move by Microsoft I think. If they make these retail stores nice enough and they prove to be popular, Microsoft could start having a bigger say in what new technologies get adopted to computers (Multi touch track pads becoming standard, No bundled crapware, etc) I just wish they would go all the way and actually start building Microsoft computers, I always thought their hardware was much nicer than their software.

- Awwzm, on 10/23/2009, -5/+11This is pointless. What's the advantage of buying from Microsoft? I can't even change the configuration on the computers.
- Myztry, on 10/23/2009, -1/+6Perhaps nVidia should start selling computers online. They are similarly a parts supplier to the OEMs except have a much greater hardware proficiency.
- ethana2, on 10/23/2009, -1/+5How many people do you think would have to complain to the European Union to get that mandated?
- JessterKing, on 10/23/2009, -4/+7you should look up the Microsoft Linux training program, its riddled with lies
- robdiggity, on 10/23/2009, -2/+5Yes, clearly MS doesn't have, nor do they exercise enough "say."
- BobDle, on 10/23/2009, -1/+3LOL. so true.
- JohnnySoftware, on 10/24/2009, -0/+2Cool, I think the increased competition will help the best Wintel retailers float to the top. Plus, Microsoft will have more say in Wintel system prices. It also gives Microsoft more leverage over OEMs. Ballmer will stop complaining about computer companies that sell you the OS and the computer together, too.
- CircleFusion, on 10/24/2009, -0/+2This is a mistake because it puts Microsoft in a position where it is competing with the very hardware vendors that it sells to.
Then again, maybe this is a response to Dell, HP, Acer and others offering more computers with Linux installed within the last year or two. Maybe this is Microsoft's way of saying "If you're going to sell Linux, then maybe we'll just sell our own computers" - DjOverEZ, on 10/23/2009, -1/+3@bradleyland READ!
- miaow, on 10/24/2009, -0/+1they had the luxury of having no real competitors in the OS market, so they didnt need to bother about hardware. Now with chrome OS on the horizon, they are in grave danger of becoming an 'expensive option' both to vendors and consumers.
- mreloads, on 10/23/2009, -7/+6That would be funny to see.
- miaow, on 10/23/2009, -6/+5microsoft preparing to become a niche market
- bradleyland, on 10/23/2009, -6/+2Microsoft isn't actually building anything. They're just reselling other manufacturer's computers.
- juicyfruit259, on 10/23/2009, -9/+4At least all the drivers will be supported.
- cdsfire, on 10/23/2009, -15/+1Is Microsoft going to make a Microsoft PC?
- Speedy7, on 10/23/2009, -23/+5It's not a bug, it's actually just windows...
/light joke - bigdnl, on 10/22/2009, -26/+7Overpriced hardware?
