- Respec7, on 02/09/2008, -2/+405Hats off to Microsoft for doing this, at least they admitted for making a mistake.
- OddTSi, on 02/09/2008, -10/+386Between the firmware upgrade to provide new functionality to the old Zune and this kind of stuff, I'm definately starting to think that if I were to get a Zune one thing I definately wouldn't have to worry about is customer service.
- FriedTurkey, on 02/09/2008, -23/+380At least they didn't pull an Apple and give everyone some lousy credit voucher for the Microsoft store. I bet every corporation wishes they were like Apple where they could totally ***** over their customers with overpriced products and then they line up like sheep when the next nothing new, overpriced, but looks cool Apple product comes out.
- jonlarge, on 02/09/2008, -15/+196Its like the Zune/Xbox divisions of Microsoft are part of a completely different company than the Windows/Office divisions
- inputusername, on 02/09/2008, -7/+172My red Zune 80 was delayed about a week, but I received it a few days ago. To compensate me for the delay, they emailed me yesterday and gave me 2000 Microsoft Points ($25) to be used in the Zune Marketplace or XBox 360 Marketplace. I thought it was a very generous gift and I didn't even ask for it. Thanks Microsoft!
- Innagadadavida, on 02/09/2008, -7/+153Somebody give this man a cookie (for telling it like it is).
- Rikushix, on 02/09/2008, -3/+124That is impressive. Kudos.
- LincolnA, on 02/09/2008, -1/+118Back up. Did you just put an apostrophe in the word "want?"
- SeekerDarksteel, on 02/09/2008, -3/+101It's because they don't have market dominance. Competition is a wonderful thing.
- Premier, on 02/09/2008, -10/+107They'll never afford yahoo at this rate ...
- fasda, on 02/09/2008, -7/+84The next time I get a MP3 player in a few years or so its going to be a serious consideration
- estvir, on 02/09/2008, -12/+77Apple would've somehow managed to blame their customers.
- shakestheclown, on 02/09/2008, -4/+69It's amazing how much different a company acts when they are #2 (or worse).
Microsoft is no worse than Apple or Sony, once you get the #1 product you treat customers like *****. When you are #2 you give away free stuff and treat your customers well. - inactive, on 02/09/2008, -2/+55You've never actually used one, have you?
- neckaros, on 02/09/2008, -3/+51Very good gesture for forgiveness
- theragu40, on 02/09/2008, -3/+51I think the point is kind of that if they want to get any piece of this market (which Apple is currently gripping tightly by the balls), they're going to have to *start* giving a ***** what we think. Nice try though.
- D3koy, on 02/09/2008, -3/+49I've never been a MS fanboy, but things like this may change that...
- inactive, on 02/09/2008, -7/+50Microsoft makes good with its customers FAR more than Apple does. Notice that Microsoft is not forcing these people to drive 5 hours to the nearest "microsoft store", and then sit and wait for 3 hours to get them.
- bobcoxocn, on 02/09/2008, -1/+42I actually worked in the call center for Apple.. recently lost my job in January though. The funny thing about working there was we didn't know what to tell customers until 24-48 hours the problem arose. So, most of the time it was up to us to make ***** up..
Anyway, for future purchases from the Apple online store: Gripe about any little thing you can. The customer service reps have $150 to play with per order to "ensure customer satisfaction." So, if you felt misled about the shipping dates, it's a day late, or even go ahead and get an engraving on your iPod and lie and say it was spelled wrong and they can give you some credit back..
Just a little tip from me to you. - sirbeta, on 02/09/2008, -3/+43Take your anti-microsoft retardation out of this topic. Dear god, you are just an uninformed idiot, posting a bunch of things in an area you know nothing about.
- RCcola159, on 02/09/2008, -1/+40The whole point of the engravings is so that you buy it directly from them. You saved a little money, you don't get the rewards of the Zune Originals, simple.
- theragu40, on 02/09/2008, -1/+40Fail. 4 OSes in a week? Stop ***** up your installations, dude.
- h4mx0r, on 02/09/2008, -3/+41The valentines Zune comes in red.
And by that brilliant logic of yours, why do I want something shaped like a bar of soap and comes in the color of semen? - Ajajadude, on 02/09/2008, -2/+39I got a 80 GB Zune for Christmas after going through 3 iPods. I was willing to give Microsoft a try since the Zune has better features, IMO, and it seems they have better customer service. My only issue with the Zune is that you have to use the Zune program, unlike with the iPod where you can use any program that supports it (i.e. Winamp).
- moocow1452, on 02/09/2008, -4/+41Voucher: One (1) Cookie of Internet Awesomeness to be used at any time to declare said awesomeness. Only valued at digg.com
- Netrilix, on 02/09/2008, -2/+39I'm honestly impressed with the MP3 player market right now. There is genuine competition, and it is doing nothing but helping the customers. I even respect the cheaper models, as they're keeping up. My dad has a Sansa e200 series, and even that performs everything he needs. It's not as sleek and showy as an iPod or a Zune, but it provides competition on the lower end. My trusty iPod 5.5 Generation (I swear, I won't drop THIS one in a river until I can afford a Classic 160GB) serves me well and I don't personally know an unhappy Zune owner.
- theragu40, on 02/09/2008, -1/+37Well, at least if they give you a free Zune, you can take her out for a really nice romantic dinner and show or something with the Zune money, and then a week later - BOOM...double brownie points. I guarantee your significant other will enjoy the romantic evening more than the Zune anyway, and that will make the Zune icing on the cake.
- fkr3, on 02/09/2008, -1/+37And not charging $20 for a firmware update.
- Konstantino, on 02/09/2008, -2/+35What are you talking about man? The new Zune looks like a really solid device. The exterior is sexy, the way you scroll is just as (if not more) ingenious as the click wheel, and it comes with radio from the get-go (unlike other players). I love iPods as much as the next guy, but let's not bash the Zune out of fanboyism.
- Myonosken, on 02/09/2008, -3/+34So they did this because they don't care what we think?
- mal1964, on 02/09/2008, -10/+41I HEART You, Microsoft!
- BeanTeddyMagic, on 02/09/2008, -16/+46Apple
Lose - Myonosken, on 02/09/2008, -3/+31That's just very sensible business tactics. Beats shady takeover deals!
- SigmaDraconis, on 02/10/2008, -1/+28I'm surprised by the amount of generosity Microsoft is showing towards Zune customers as of late. It's sort of refreshing to see customer loyalty being encouraged like this.
What surprises me even more is that the lot of such *****, anti-Zune bandwagon comments on this page aren't referring to Microsoft as "Micro$oft". You'd think they would make the extra effort to show their eHate for a company involved in the evil practice of MAKING MONEY. - MasterPlayer, on 02/09/2008, -2/+29I choo-choo-choose you!
- AlexLand, on 02/09/2008, -2/+29Kind of grasping at straws, aren't you?
- Ajajadude, on 02/09/2008, -2/+28I have, and the new 80 GB Zune is arguably better than the 80 GB iPod.
- Aleman360, on 02/09/2008, -3/+29Compared to the iPod Classic it's certainly not a "piece of crap." It doesn't offer as much as the Touch but as a music player it's great. Last time I checked the primary reason most people buy Zunes is to play music so yea.
- DRFU, on 02/10/2008, -1/+26Microsoft is making it a habit to make right with it's mistakes.
- Epik, on 02/09/2008, -1/+26What the *****? A corporation not putting profit first?
- emomakesmecry, on 02/09/2008, -0/+24Sounds like your significant other needs to learn to show some compassion and understanding to people (and especially businesses).
- shibbyo, on 02/09/2008, -0/+24http://www.zuneboards.com/content/view/308/1/
- iainzor, on 02/09/2008, -0/+24except for extending the warranty to three years
- theragu40, on 02/09/2008, -0/+23gigavirus, you've already been owned. don't keep trying.
- KillerStone, on 02/09/2008, -4/+27Well when Apple released a firmware upgrade with no hardware updates you had to pay another $250. When Microsoft released a new firmware upgrade every Zune on the planet got it. For free.
- shakestheclown, on 02/09/2008, -1/+24it looked like mine was engraved in China (probably at the factory). I wouldn't expect to buy a retail item from any company and have them ship it around the world for something like that. it may even be part of the manufacturing process.
that's like asking Toyota to send your car, that you bought from a car lot, back through the factory line for a different color paint job.
bastards! - emomakesmecry, on 02/09/2008, -1/+23You mean Apple fanboys.
- Ajajadude, on 02/09/2008, -2/+24Apple never had any kind of real competition in the portable MP3 department until now.
- theragu40, on 02/09/2008, -1/+23I've also used both. I sold my ipod to buy my zune, and I don't regret it one bit.
