- divinediva, on 11/07/2009, -9/+299Windows 7 software launch successful.
- Topher06, on 11/07/2009, -14/+183Strange, you must use a computer only for facebook and making stupid comments on Digg then. If you find Windows 7 almost the same as XP please turn off your computer and take up knitting.
- Thekirby45, on 11/08/2009, -3/+172Love getting it for 30 dollars! Thanks College!
- jrm125, on 11/08/2009, -11/+173Been using it since the beta and have Pro now. Couldn't be happier.
- Rahaz, on 11/08/2009, -13/+100Suck it Mac commercials.
- inactive, on 11/08/2009, -4/+87Yeah...because it is WINDOWS users who are always shoving their OS of chioce down others' throats! Riiiiiiight!
- emmanuelsotelo, on 11/08/2009, -3/+79I got it for free! (Legally)
Thanks CS degree! - robszol, on 11/08/2009, -4/+74GJ Microsoft, now time for me to get my free version from the academic alliance!

- jrm125, on 11/08/2009, -7/+55Panther had 64 bit and can play DirectX games?
*****...I've apparently been missing a lot of stuff on my MbPro. - brandnewx, on 11/08/2009, -9/+49Haha... Apple fanboy failed.
- cuevas4711, on 11/08/2009, -1/+41The article mentions that discounts are a big part of the success.
- MonkeyFit, on 11/08/2009, -3/+41yeah, ***** security and UI enhancements.
- alpha88, on 11/08/2009, -2/+40The success is obviously related to the launch parties.
- numb, on 11/08/2009, -3/+40I develop a lot of web apps too, but I'm not sure what that has to do with anything. The IDE's I use function exactly the same. And, honestly, I didn't think learning the OS' new interface was too complicated. After a day or two Win 7 seemed just as natural as XP, Vista, or Ubuntu. There was nothing I really had to struggle with at any point in the learning process.
- Zanneth, on 11/08/2009, -1/+36Love getting it for nothing! Thanks MSDNAA!
- cyberclown, on 11/08/2009, -9/+44Why windows 7 ? Direct X 11 thats why.
- IFEice, on 11/08/2009, -14/+47Apple sucks
- ArgleFargle, on 11/08/2009, -21/+53Want an Os that works? There's an OS for that. Win 7. I love it. Hated Vista, loved XP, can't stand anything Apple, don't have the time for Linux. Linux still isn't ready for prime-time. My opinion.
- inactive, on 11/08/2009, -14/+45No. Because none of what you said is true., You obviouslyu never used Vista.
- Praystation, on 11/08/2009, -4/+31me playing vs 7 other Hard CPU.

i quit the game. - robszol, on 11/08/2009, -5/+31Well I don't go to univ to get free crap from microsoft...but swag is always nice
- DimensionalPunk, on 11/08/2009, -2/+27If you're trying to upgrade, don't. Always do a fresh install on a formatted drive when installing an OS.
- Darkside2984, on 11/08/2009, -2/+27Windows 7 x64 lets me use all my RAM, actually knows how to use a quad core well and in general is more stable. BOINC has caused me a few freeze ups but I don't blame windows 7 as the CUDA tech causes some problems. I have really been enjoying how fast it runs and how responsive it is. If you are running on hardware from 2002 yeah you probably don't need it, but if you are building a new rig I don't see a reason not to use Windows 7 for gaming.
- efitz11, on 11/08/2009, -9/+34using a mac has made me a windows only person
- BrownieMix, on 11/08/2009, -17/+41I'm asking for Windows 7 for Christmas. In the mean time, I'm using Ubuntu 9.10. And I'm lovin' it!
- thedinomeister, on 11/08/2009, -7/+29you forgot to add "/s" at the end of your comment.
- hardeep1singh, on 11/08/2009, -4/+24OS X is just a glossy version of Linux, available for the price of a house.
Steve Jobs a marketing genius, no doubt about it. - jrm125, on 11/08/2009, -0/+20I own a MbPro with Snow Leopard. W7 is still my pick.

- kamisama, on 11/08/2009, -1/+20@rushover : I pitty the poor soul willing to pay you with an attitude towards learning new things like that? You develop web applications and claim that learning a new UI is so hard that it would work counter productive? You sound like you're in the wrong business mate, no offence.
- doshindude, on 11/08/2009, -2/+20It's your machine.
- burbankmarc, on 11/08/2009, -4/+22I didn't find Vista to be as bad as other people say, but it definitely came out too early. Driver support was the biggest problem.
That and the ***** sidebar ate up half of my god damn RAM. - datdamonfoo, on 11/08/2009, -2/+20They are "completing" with macs. You know...90% vs. 5%.
- jrm125, on 11/08/2009, -4/+22Yeah cause apparently you're cool if you use OSX and talk about how much you use it in your daily life.
Fixed that for ya. - the8thbit, on 11/08/2009, -3/+21"I did, on my alienware"

- MaxterICC, on 11/08/2009, -1/+18wut
- geenope, on 11/08/2009, -1/+18I enjoy using Windows 7. The taskbar was a bit confusing at first, but I got over that. One of the biggest reasons I love Windows 7 is because compared to Vista, start-up and shutdown is so quick!
- brainboy7777, on 11/08/2009, -3/+19The UI is really good. Other than that, it runs pretty much the same as Vista, which is pretty fast. Not really seeing the big hullaballoo.
- xenuxenuts, on 11/08/2009, -7/+23I'd rank Ubuntu 9.04 and 9.10 a bit behind win7, but better than Vista or XP.
- Zalyster, on 11/08/2009, -3/+18A lump of delicious coal...with *****.
- rikwakefield, on 11/08/2009, -1/+16I get it free too :) - one of the perks of being an IT worker in the NHS.
I think it's a really good OS. The true follow up to XP in my eyes. - lmbb20, on 11/08/2009, -6/+21Nice negative ad campaign apple!
- WELLDOITLIVE, on 11/08/2009, -7/+21A lot of these sales are from the $30 price for college students, which is easily abused and can be gotten by non-students.
Still, love Win7. - bringitontimx, on 11/08/2009, -2/+16Uranium Cakes
- joerdie, on 11/08/2009, -13/+27I never thought I would say this... but I just upgraded from XP. 7 is a dream so far. The only issue that I have had is, get this, running iTunes in 64bit. Long live MS... I guess?
- thelastcivilian, on 11/08/2009, -5/+19Was that a dig at Apple/Linux users? Because that is indeed what they do.
- rikwakefield, on 11/08/2009, -0/+13Windows 7 is a great OS.
- dragossh, on 11/08/2009, -0/+13It's not called Vista. Guess they learned something from the Mojave Experiemnt.
