- CushyL, on 10/08/2008, -1/+28If I want to search, I'll open a new tab.
- mattyx, on 10/08/2008, -0/+27...and use Google.
- marshallk, on 10/08/2008, -3/+20post about Facebook starting to use Live.com search today, will it make a difference?
- inactive, on 10/08/2008, -8/+22i hope ms buys facebook so they can ***** it up
- inactive, on 10/08/2008, -0/+13If I put a stake in a vampire's heart and it bore fruit, now that'd be ***** up.
- rtaibah, on 05/22/2009, -6/+19Oh noes! That would cripple FB!!
- omenmedia, on 10/08/2008, -1/+11Can Live Search be disabled once it's integrated?
- turoczy, on 10/08/2008, -1/+10Thank you! It was a team effort. I was just lucky enough to get the byline. ;)
- Narrwald, on 10/08/2008, -1/+8I noticed the "search the web" option today, when typing a group name I was looking for into Facebook's search bar. I didn't like it, because it just gave me more options to have to look at when I wasn't even remotely interested in searching the entire internet.
- wss23, on 10/08/2008, -3/+10Great post @turoczy - Congrats!
- ottville, on 10/08/2008, -1/+6ive read your post 5 times already. it still doesnt make any sense.
- Ugotownedo, on 10/08/2008, -0/+5Meh, this is pretty unnecessary. I can do the same thing if I press Ctrl + t, and click on my homepage icon. But I doubt it's actually gonna have a negative effect on Facebook, it'll just advertise Microsoft.
- Wakuko, on 10/08/2008, -3/+7Isn't it already ***** up without M$ help?
- nafnosseb, on 10/09/2008, -0/+3I have deep privacy concerns over facebook ads. Always telling me where hot asian teens can be found. How do they know I want to see this?
- MScrip, on 10/08/2008, -0/+3In Firefox, middle clicking the home icon does the same thing.
Google is my homepage, so it's only one click away. - JohnnyDIGGme, on 10/09/2008, -0/+3It amazes me what gets dugg around here. Over 350 people dugg this as interesting?
- inactive, on 10/09/2008, -0/+3Mark is a genius. Facebook has only been growing in the past few years.
- pbol01, on 10/08/2008, -1/+4Bears!
- Narrwald, on 10/08/2008, -1/+4This is one of those "WOW THERE'S ONLY A FEW COMMENTS, I'LL POST SOMETHING BEFORE I THINK ABOUT IT SO I CAN BE AT THE TOP WHEN THIS GETS POPULAR!!!" things.
- shaun1983, on 10/08/2008, -1/+3I honestly don't know how they are actually going to monetize Facebook. Has anyone ever clicked on a Facebook advert?
- alclone, on 10/08/2008, -0/+2That would be cool...
and kinky... - davidwasman, on 10/08/2008, -3/+5I would prefer to have a choice, personally. I don't like being force-fed options.
- Danls92, on 10/08/2008, -1/+3hehe, "Bear Fruit- In case you haven't been mauled by an apple lately!"
- arplayer2k, on 10/09/2008, -1/+3Exactly. Its not even hard to start a new tab on MS Exwhorer these days. Come on guys..... is this really a big innovation? The last time I used msn to search, it was crap compared to "The Googler"
- doublefelix, on 10/08/2008, -1/+3These IT guys they hire are just sooo much more brilliant then me. Where do they get these paradigm changing ideas. I know, let's value facebook at $15 ***** billion, buy a 1/60th share of the company, throw some ads up, and put a place where people can search using Live Search instead of the google search most people have defaulted into their Firefox. Then let's pretend that these annoying ads are a value add to facebook users and that the inferior search capability makes it a win-win!!!! The guys who wrote scrabulous gave more to the facebook community then microsoft and its' millions ever will.
- drunknmunky1, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1Ctrl + t, Ctrl + k, then search
or Ctrl + k, then hit alt+enter to search
Far too many ways of doing the same thing in Firefox - arplayer2k, on 10/09/2008, -0/+1Not a great idea. I wasnt too thrilled about the new "I want to look like myspace" layout, but it grew on me. But this seems like unneeded functionality you already have at your fingertips. I totally agree with DoubleFelix as well. Take something you already have, add some useless changes to it, and call that innovation.
Yeah, lets take a BMW X5.... wait, it doesnt have a microwave! We add a microwave to it, and wave our magic wand, and there you go. You can now live in your car for extended periods of time while in the desert, and not die of starvation. Thank you.... Thank you...... I will be here all night long!!!! - ayeroxor, on 10/09/2008, -0/+1b4e, congratulations on your fail:
http://digg.com/linux_unix/Why_eBay_Should_Open_So ... - mohamedmansour, on 10/09/2008, -0/+1No it wont ... What are you talking about? Actually, that will make it even more popular from the search ads revenue.
- mediaspree, on 10/09/2008, -0/+1about 0.5% of people in my advertising account. and that is with an ass ton of impressions. (millions a day)
- kaptainKraken, on 10/09/2008, -1/+2while reading the article i was thinking about shaving my balls. that's how interesting it was.
- nimadude, on 10/09/2008, -1/+1The good thing about microsoft live search is that you can get discounts on stores (microsoft rebates for you just because you used the live search).. Pretty good marketing tactic and it saves you money!
- inactive, on 10/08/2008, -1/+1Mark is an idiot, He should have sold Facebook ages ago. Facebook isnt making any profit with their huge server & other expenses. They will probably fade in a few years like Friendster, Hi5 & co as another new social network concept pops up.
- Tishiablo, on 10/08/2008, -1/+1From the article: that would incorporate Microsoft Live Search and advertising into the Facebook platform by fall.
Make sense now? :) - Kate1240, on 10/08/2008, -1/+1MS will destroy that too
- WomensUnderwear, on 10/09/2008, -0/+0who is right out of you two guys? i'm so confused
- josejimenez, on 10/09/2008, -0/+0diggafrica is right. bentago is using the old dot bomb adage that eyeballs are more important than profitability. High traffic volume does not equal profitability. Youtube continues to burn through money. All Google can do is continue to shovel money into Youtube in the hopes that someday they will figure out how to make Youtube profitable. Facebook is in the same boat. Facebook burns through tons of cash but fails to be profitable. Facebook is following the Geocities/Tripod/Friendster model of social networking in that they think a high volume of free users is the key to success.
- shaun1983, on 10/09/2008, -1/+1My point exactly - they are going to have to completely relook their business model in terms of monetization. I think Microsoft looked at the success of Google Adwords, and seriously miscalculated things.
- Ziyonex, on 10/09/2008, -1/+1Chrome for the win.
- kelchm, on 10/09/2008, -1/+1where can hot asian teens be found?
- rocfit, on 02/16/2009, -0/+0Get off the computers & work out! http://dontbefat.info
- bizzywho, on 10/08/2008, -3/+2bear fruit?...apples?...Apple, Inc.!...It all comes back full circle!
It all makes sense now! - Vidalsassgirlie, on 10/08/2008, -7/+1I don't know what bear fruit is but I wouldn't touch one. I'm sure it's a vicious killing machine.
