- macfanboi, on 10/22/2009, -100/+610Vista gave me zero problems.
- runeasgar, on 10/22/2009, -22/+370I'm a fervent Mac user, but I'm digging this because Microsoft has done a great job improving their operating system this time around.
(And I can't wait until I can justify VMing it, once I don't have to test on Internet Explorer 6 anymore.) - dig1x, on 10/22/2009, -94/+412***** off.
Windows has *always* been a great OS. Pretending otherwise is blather. And, i dont want to hear about how much you hated Vista, or bluescreens.
Compared to Linux and OSX, it has always been excellent. I'm tired of the ***** haters and their throw-away drive-by empty-headed *****.
Operating Systems are tools, not a ***** religion. Get over it. - BxBoy, on 10/22/2009, -44/+324Vista gave me AIDS!
- superkendall, on 10/22/2009, -18/+267Windows is like an old girlfriend...

Funniest comment you will read about Windows, ever. - xGeneric, on 10/22/2009, -6/+241I happened to check out an article on CNN today about Win 7. Nothing riveting, though I did see something that I was glad to read:
"Microsoft also had harsh messages for the PC companies. The vast amounts of preinstalled software that they were shipping on consumer machines, so-called "crapware" were slowing down systems and hurting the PC's image.
The computer makers and Microsoft began looking at each piece of software, whether it came from the PC manufacturers or a third party, and measuring its impact on the system. Those that were bogging things down were told to fix their software or else got pulled from new PCs."

Honestly I never would have thought of Microsoft doing that, but it's a great idea IMO. - akpanga, on 10/22/2009, -103/+316Welcome Windows 7. MS finally releases something usable
- physco827, on 10/22/2009, -19/+229Dugg while using windows 7. Love it.
- Dacvak, on 10/22/2009, -6/+207Hey Digg, are you a student at a college? Microsoft is selling Windows 7 for $30 here. All you need is a student email address.
http://windows7.digitalriver.com/store/mswpus/en_U ...
There's a smaller link (before Checkout) that lets you change to Windows 7 Professional, too. ***** torrenting it if it's only $30. Totally worth it.
Edit: Wow, after I read what I wrote, that sounds extremely sales-pitchy. Oops. Regardless, ***** works. - mparker21311, on 10/22/2009, -17/+150Dug for this line:
"Operating Systems are tools, not a ***** religion. Get over it."
And I will chuckle the next time I see a Mac Apple logo on the back of someone's car as if that makes them cool. - TexMexRex, on 10/22/2009, -6/+125Why was there no warning?!
- jaytek13, on 10/22/2009, -17/+123Already received the download link from MS.
- inactive, on 10/22/2009, -13/+111I know the quality of Apple fanboy trolling has been in shocking decline for some time now, but that is just lame.
- runeasgar, on 10/22/2009, -7/+92I choose to believe, as I was programmed, to believe!
- Chrysalii, on 10/22/2009, -5/+87I know the quality of Linux fanboy trolling has been in shocking decline for some time now, but that is just lame.
- doshindude, on 10/22/2009, -9/+88Downloading it now for my older laptop...got the $30 student discount. Now if only Dell will stop being retarded and let me register my new laptop's service tag for the Win7 free upgrade. "Not in our database" my ass.
- FredFredrickson, on 10/22/2009, -12/+78I'll be picking up my copy later today. The beta was awesome, the reviews are great, and the driver issues were fixed by Vista. Looking forward to my first 64-bit OS and running more than 4gb of RAM!
- jull1234, on 10/22/2009, -5/+69Post SP1 Vista gave me no problems.
- dagr8tim, on 10/22/2009, -4/+59IDE or SATA hard drive? I've seen many IDE systems throw a fit over 7.
- linagee, on 10/22/2009, -1/+56dear aunt let's set so double the killer delete select all
- cyrix, on 10/22/2009, -16/+67You're claiming an apple sticker is an equal rights sticker?

Windows is a "real" operating system. It may not be your favorite, and it may not even objectively be the best, but there's little point in trying to denounce what it is. - noumuon, on 10/22/2009, -3/+49hey digg, are you a student at college? there's a good chance you can get windows 7 for absolutely free... :P i've been using win7 pro for a couple months now. msdnaa is a very nice service.
- JeffLongoria, on 10/22/2009, -12/+57Windows 7 is SWEET.
- Asianwaste, on 10/22/2009, -3/+46I got that error because my DVD drive was too old. HP refuses to keep their firmwares up to speed.
- theghostofme, on 10/22/2009, -4/+46Yes, Microsoft can. The question is: can you do anything without ***** it up?
- mark076h, on 10/22/2009, -3/+45Vista never gave me any trouble either but Windows 7 does feel a lot faster than Vista, like more snappy.
- MWeather, on 10/22/2009, -4/+46"what's wrong with Windows 95"
Nothing at all. If it runs the apps you need it's faster than XP, Vista and Win7. - kjones555, on 10/22/2009, -2/+42I have Windows 7 on a tablet PC and it rocks! Handwriting recognition is so smooth! I physically wrote this without having to erase!
- GamerXR72, on 10/22/2009, -3/+41Your post is campaign of failure.
- peterjmag, on 10/22/2009, -0/+38That is truly awesome.
- HigherLogic, on 10/22/2009, -13/+47It's ***** old and dated. By your logic, what's wrong with Windows 95?
- rushnerd, on 10/22/2009, -3/+34Finally someone with the guts to say it.
I must be a complete fluke in the world but Vista has always been GOLDEN for me, it simply never crashes and I leave it on 24/7 Overclocked. Best OS i've ever worked with. - dig1x, on 10/22/2009, -8/+38The driver issues were fixed by the vendors who wrote them.
Vista's "issues" (outside of the fud storm from self-important mac and linux users) were really driver issues from "unsupported" hardware.
These issues were fixed in Vista long ago... - TexMexRex, on 10/22/2009, -0/+28Have you ever seen them use Sarcasm on Family Guy?
And I think MS has been talking up the Win7 release for 2+ years. They handed out demo copies over year ago for god's sake. - shibagarden, on 10/22/2009, -3/+31I hear it has a new version of calculator. Sign me up for that.
- datdamonfoo, on 10/22/2009, -14/+41Except Apple's erases people's data.
- Ryan32, on 10/22/2009, -16/+42Yeah, only the features that are promised in Windows 7, are actually there.
- Vodd9, on 10/22/2009, -9/+35Yup, Windows ME set an example of for Microsoft's greatness.
- runeasgar, on 10/22/2009, -2/+27You're preaching to the choir. I'm a Mac user 99% of the time, and the other 1% of the time, I'm testing in IE6.
My point was simple: don't try to say Microsoft Windows isn't an operating system, because when Windows users read that, they shut out your opinion entirely (and validly).
It is an operating system. So is linux, so is OS X, so is Solaris. They are all operating systems. There's no disputing that, and it shouldn't be a part of any argument against them. - swraman, on 10/22/2009, -0/+25Microsoft is heading in the right direction.
- BxBoy, on 10/22/2009, -10/+33I actually thought the launch in NYC was great; it had live demos + new hardware which I like!
- HamNCheese, on 10/22/2009, -0/+23Only the first 32 bits are free.
- Renian, on 10/22/2009, -12/+34No, I think it's the fact that Windows 7 lacks the RAID drivers for my motherboard, which breaks it. Windows XP gave me a 0x0000007B stop error before I slipstreamed the JMicron and nForce RAID drivers in using nLite on another computer. I'm going to try slipstreaming using vLite (I hear it works with Win7), but it would be nice if they had the RAID drivers from common motherboard vendors in the install.
My rig is the following:
EVGA 790i FTW
Intel quad core, 2.83 mhz LGA 775
2x EVGA GTX 280
LG DVD-RW drive
1x Western Digital 500gb standing alone
5x Western Digital 500gb as a RAID 5
6GB DDR3 2000 RAM, G-skill Trident
1200 Watt power supply
Antec 1200 (Case won't cause the problem though) - CoreyFC, on 10/22/2009, -0/+21Thanks for making me google that phrase... haha
- jordanmoore, on 10/22/2009, -0/+19Your post sounds awesome with a Russian accent!
- pagno, on 10/22/2009, -7/+25Wow. Your greatest selling point for Ubuntu is "it comes with wallpapers." Windows 7 comes with wallpapers, too. And you know what else it comes with? Working wifi, out of the box.
- Dustmuffins, on 10/22/2009, -0/+18Launch Detected.
- w00t692, on 10/22/2009, -2/+19^^Been out a couple of months?
I've had the release version from MSDN on my computer for over a month and they've been having updates for it weekly/biweekly.
There is no reason to wait a couple months to test it... It's been consumer ready for longer than you're going to wait to test it. - wigren, on 10/22/2009, -3/+20Coming from a linux fanboy: Adelie, ***** off.
