- Chadrew, on 03/06/2008, -39/+294Firefox has a plugin for that.
- skippyatuw, on 03/06/2008, -3/+2271) Digg uses Mircosoft for ad content
2) Microsoft bring traffic to Digg
3) Both Profit! - Sornos, on 03/06/2008, -14/+167If IE has better features than Firefox, I'll be the first to switch. I have no loyalty to Mozilla (awesome though they may be). Brand loyalty slows progress.
- Books, on 03/06/2008, -8/+142At least these guys are finally trying to get on the same page as their competitors (FF, Opera, etc...).
- thebriz, on 03/06/2008, -39/+155um...could be cool, but I still won't use IE
- 1807, on 03/06/2008, -8/+78Do you guys realize what this means? It means that companies are taking notice and that what we say and what we think may hold more weight than we think. I, for one, would say that digg is probably my favorite site on the net. To be honest, I love this community (for better or worse) and I love that most people read every single comment. So even if you're at the very bottom, your opinion still matters. To me, it's cool to be part of a community where everyone's opinion counts and if something is dumb or doesn't make sense, people will call you out on it. I wish people would see that this isn't about firefox having an extention or IE adding digg support, this is about big companies caring about our opinion and the fact that we have a great community here.
- z987k, on 03/06/2008, -34/+100but who on digg uses IE?
- op12, on 03/06/2008, -8/+65*sometime in 2001*
Firefox Development team guy 1 - "hey we should add a way for people to have multiple pages open in the same window!
Firefox Development team guy 2 -"what a great idea!! What should we call it?"
Firefox Development team guy 1 -"how about...TABS!"
Firefox Development team guy 2-"you sir are a ***** genius...Dave and Blake are soooooooo gonna love this" - mancat, on 03/06/2008, -4/+60please provide a humorous anecdote describing how firefox borrowed the idea of tabs from opera.
- RAdams, on 03/06/2008, -7/+59Sure thing:
Firefox Development team guy 1 - "hey we should add a way for people to have multiple pages open in the same window!
Firefox Development team guy 2 -"what a great idea!! What should we call it?"
Firefox Development team guy 1 -"how about...TABS!"
Firefox Development team guy 2-"you sir -- oh, wait, you mean like InternetWorks from 1994, or UltraEdit Browser Interface from the same year?"
Firefox Development team guy 1-"***** off, no one will ever know!"
Oh, wait, did you say Opera, from 2000? Sorry, I wasn't listening. - RoxStar1968, on 03/06/2008, -10/+58Pretty convenient...
- Elranzer, on 03/06/2008, -3/+47I usually won't use IE either, but it seems Microsoft is now actually trying to make a good product now that they no longer have a 100% sure monopoly. IE7 was a vast improvement. If anything, IE5 and IE6 are proof of how monopolies lead to poor products.
It also seems like IE8 is surprisingly almost ready. Could IE7 be the shortest-lived MS product yet? - teh_spazz, on 03/06/2008, -22/+63No adblock, no care.
- Sornos, on 03/06/2008, -1/+42Ha! Joke's on you, I'm single!
....
Wait. - isuisorisuaint, on 03/06/2008, -15/+55this feature won't keep me from using FF considering i've had the functionality for years now with the "digg this" extension.
- lewhich, on 03/06/2008, -4/+40Thanks to FF, Microsoft has put some pretty good work into IE
- unbreakable, on 03/06/2008, -5/+41I hear your wife feels the same way about you.
- Otto, on 03/06/2008, -2/+37Firefox plugins are usually just XML too, sometimes with javascript thrown in.
- Ki77erB, on 03/06/2008, -28/+61Yeah, way to be innovative M$!
*sometime in 2006*
IE7 Development team guy 1 - "hey we should add a way for people to have multiple pages open in the same window!
IE7 Development team guy 2 -"what a great idea!! What should we call it?"
IE7 Development team guy 1 -"how about...TABS!"
IE7 Development team guy 2-"you sir are a ***** genius...Bill is soooooooo gonna love this"
I guess history really does repeat itself. - nonymous666, on 03/06/2008, -9/+41TOO convenient. Everybody is going to be submitting EVERYTHING. As if the signal to noise ratio on Digg's 'Upcoming' pages wasn't bad enough.
- astrosmash, on 03/06/2008, -3/+34Digg has jumped the shark.
- Pattyo13, on 05/14/2009, -2/+28what happens if it's already been submitted
nevermind, people will submit and digg anyway - masterthiefster, on 03/06/2008, -1/+26Yeah, but Firefox has a plugin for *everything*. Probably including your mother.
- inhaler, on 03/06/2008, -3/+27Microsoft eventually buys digg?
- unearth, on 03/06/2008, -2/+262.5) ???
- SLYK, on 03/06/2008, -3/+25Or it's just about money.
- Hortnon, on 03/06/2008, -3/+24Pretending a significant amount of Digg users don't use IE is just ignorant.
- lennybird, on 03/06/2008, -8/+28Once you go Firefox you never go back.
...It may not rhyme, but it's a fact. - Hortnon, on 03/06/2008, -2/+22Yeah, because no one uses any FireFox, etc addons to already accomplish easier Digging, right?
- zephc, on 03/06/2008, -0/+19Still better than youtube user comments
- DevinOlsen, on 03/06/2008, -5/+23https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/576 ...
- capiCrimm, on 03/06/2008, -2/+20Would you like to bookmark this page? No you cannot go back. Would you like to bookmark this page? Why are you trying to close your browser? I'm afraid I can't allow you to do that Dave.
- m3mn0n, on 03/06/2008, -12/+29Amen. Long live Firefox.
- renesisx, on 03/06/2008, -0/+17I have no idea what you mean!
- cesclaveria, on 03/06/2008, -1/+17actually, digg dies.
- fredclown, on 03/06/2008, -0/+16According to Wikipedia an IE shell called NetCaptor was one of the first browsers to have tabbed browsing.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tabbed_document_inter ... - DiggLive, on 03/06/2008, -4/+20What I'd like to see in IE 8 is:
1) Password management
2) Ability to force all and/or certain website cookies to be session only
3) Ability to run Delete Brower History on exit
4) Make it easier to backup a profile
Firefox is better in these areas, but I use IE 7 just for the RSS functionality. I can't wait until I can compare FF 3 to IE 8. Competition rocks! - theOster, on 03/06/2008, -6/+20STOP USING THE DOLLAR SIGN!!!
- canthraxp, on 03/06/2008, -0/+14I give a crap about plugins, as long as I don't have to hack pages to make them run on IE6/7.
- fredclown, on 03/06/2008, -0/+13Actually there are ad blockers for IE. One that has lots of other cool features is IE7 Pro.
http://www.ie7pro.com/ - CoolGoose, on 03/06/2008, -2/+15You're not making any sense. You're accusing Firefox of being bloated because one feature that 1% of the users would use is in a plugin and not built in like in IE ? Omg.
- SteveMax, on 03/06/2008, -1/+13Digg probably got at least S1000000 from that deal.
- jakem1, on 03/06/2008, -2/+14There are free add-ins for IE that do ad blocking, flash blocking, etc.
- cquinnd, on 03/06/2008, -0/+12And you expect to tell a difference how?
- FKnight, on 03/06/2008, -2/+14That's because it's not Javascript, it's Jscript, which is the Microsoft implementation of ECMAscript. Javascript is the Netscape/Mozilla implementation of ECMAscript.
- Speed, on 03/06/2008, -0/+12I'm an 18 year old Canadian, I voted twice! Thank you Diebold.
- TeacherOfHeroes, on 03/06/2008, -4/+16If it were better, I'd switch, but they don't have a linux version :P
- cadmiumpaint, on 03/06/2008, -3/+14Digg has no community. Its nothing more than an opportunity for anonymous people to take out their aggressions of their real lives by hating on other people and debating useless things to exhaustion. It also gives people the opportunity to pretend they are an expert at everything and give their "valuable" expert opinions on the matter.
- SilentStrider, on 03/06/2008, -7/+18Apparently the IE devs think they work for Flock now.
- michaelothomas, on 03/06/2008, -6/+17I will never use IE for one simple reason: what Microsoft did with IE6. They worked like crazy to get Netscape out of the market, including abusing their OS monopoly. And then what did they do the second they had 90% market share? They sat on their hands for 5 god damned years leaving the world with a buggy, non-standards-compliant, wildly insecure web browser. Now Firefox is starting to gain market share so they're once again trying to innovate. But I'll never switch, cuz the second they reclaim their lost market share, they'll sit on their hands again, and let the web stagnate.
