- Hamflank, on 06/19/2008, -1/+149'Outside Microsoft's $550 Million Mega Data Centers' seems more appropriate.
- ectocooler, on 06/19/2008, -8/+112Wow, that was unusually boring.
- Slade605, on 06/19/2008, -2/+47I was expecting a series of crazy large rooms with server farms up the ass, but apparently It's can see construction I can see anywhere.
- NRay7882, on 06/19/2008, -4/+35Those are some great photos. Like of the construction tape in the street. Please die, ktnx.
- kronzdigg, on 06/19/2008, -0/+21Inside informationweeks.com $50 server farm.
- dengzhi, on 06/19/2008, -1/+19i'd like to see google's
- mrbro, on 06/19/2008, -3/+19wow 550million and all they got was a mega warehouse with a few air-conditioners
- mrjit, on 06/19/2008, -0/+15Hopefully informationweek is moving their stuff there, because good god that loaded slowly.
- alpha94, on 06/19/2008, -2/+16Misleading title, it's not showing us anything remotely interesting or inside for that matter. Buried.
- JQP123, on 06/19/2008, -0/+12Google's data centers are all top secret. They built a large one just outside of Atlanta and for years they wouldn't even acknowledge it belonged to them.
- Webwonk, on 06/19/2008, -1/+11How about a data center tour that actually shows you something? Here's a video tour of a new $250 million data center fortress in Virginia being prepped for federal government customers:

The data center manager walks you through the power and cooling infrastructure, and describes the "green" elements of the design (especially free cooling). - DestroyFascism, on 06/19/2008, -0/+9Wow A peppercorn tree!
- dcmcderm, on 06/19/2008, -1/+10That was incredibly weak.
- Nicksname1, on 06/19/2008, -2/+10I'm pretty sure huge Data-Centers were around well before Google existed. Google weren't exactly pioneers 5yrs ago when building a big data-center. Besides I'm sure this is just one of many of the enormous data-centers owned by MS and is most likely an Off-site storage facility. But you go ahead thinking that Google created everything.
- toonworld, on 06/19/2008, -0/+7wow a fence! so THAT's what it looks like
- eigenweasel, on 06/19/2008, -1/+8Cool. Perhaps repost this WHEN THEY'VE ACTUALLY BUILT THEM.
- sceptic101, on 06/19/2008, -4/+11cant say i really care
- matthewjosephm, on 06/19/2008, -3/+10Slow site PLUS a pre-site ad. Buried.
- atbnet, on 06/19/2008, -2/+9The article really didn't give much information, but it looks nice. I wonder if they plan on it being a traditional data center or a modular one like the one they are building in Chicago.
- cdigioia, on 06/19/2008, -0/+5Fiduciary Duty
- deaftly, on 06/19/2008, -0/+5worst digg ever
- DigiRaven, on 06/19/2008, -1/+6WOW THAT WAS AMAZING! I'm glad they did not show me some crazy ass wired up room but instead I got to see 5 guys standing there with yellow reflecting vests. Oh the website just kicks ass. I love it whenever you click next on a picture it refreshes the entire page. The good ole days of 2002. woohoo
- henrikakselsen, on 06/19/2008, -1/+5Big, boring, buried.
- NRay7882, on 06/19/2008, -5/+9It's Microsoft, what's so unusual?
- inactive, on 06/19/2008, -1/+5As far as I can tell the project isn't complete given time they may incorporate solar.
- DestroyFascism, on 06/19/2008, -8/+12All that roof and money to burn and not a single solar panel in sight...irresponsible? You bet!
- marc54, on 06/19/2008, -3/+6Buried! Site way too slow.
- KillerPM, on 06/19/2008, -1/+4No inside shots, buried as inaccurate.
- nydwarf, on 06/20/2008, -0/+2Next time take some pictures of something interesting!
- Webwonk, on 06/19/2008, -0/+2You'd never get close. The security guards can use Force Lightning.
- trollick, on 06/19/2008, -0/+2You can see some heavy machinery that loads the data on dump trucks.
- wutname1, on 06/20/2008, -0/+2whats this thing you call ads?
- mattearle, on 06/19/2008, -0/+2That totally sucked, never visiting informationweek.com again!
- seabass341, on 06/19/2008, -2/+4Id love to walk in there with a giant electromagnet, just to see the look on their faces
- dimonay, on 06/19/2008, -0/+2You know, when you think "inside" Microsoft's $550 million datacenter, you'd expect pictures of it looking complete, or at least looking like $550 million.
It's like saying, "Check out my 5 million dollar home!" but have a picture of empty land which your house is yet to be built upon. - Frezzle, on 06/19/2008, -0/+2Now that was.. well not cool at all. no digg.
- sparrowvs, on 06/19/2008, -0/+2Why did 464 people digg this? Either strange sheep behavior, or Informationweek.com has professional digg gamers.
- Comanche, on 06/19/2008, -0/+2Many corps have datacenters. Even the one I work for. Microsoft is not copying anyone. Its standard practice.

- mblind, on 06/19/2008, -0/+2Wow pictures of an empty warehouse .. Awesome.
- frostyrellik, on 06/19/2008, -0/+2I really like the picture of the guy "doing" the tree. Stupid Post!!!
- GliTCH82, on 06/20/2008, -0/+1Dude, what the ***** about Digg.com gave you the idea it was some kind of forum? There are no "stickies" here, you can take your sticky and shove it right up your
- iamnobody8614, on 06/19/2008, -0/+1These people who complain about how much money a company has don't seem to realize that where we use our monetary gains in the consumer world is voluntary.
- diggenerate, on 06/19/2008, -0/+1i thought it said inside the data centers not 3 pics of the inside and 400 of the outside, this is lame
- xoineg, on 06/19/2008, -0/+1at least the servers will have fresh air...and some workers too
- frasermoo, on 06/19/2008, -0/+1they won't be waiting for a power outage before they go to 'Rent-a-Watt'
I think we're pretty safe to say they'll be dropping a bit of coin on a permanent back-up generator system. - opmike, on 06/20/2008, -0/+1Sorry, I don't find vacant warehouses at all interesting.
