As it stands, they simply 'dumbed down' a failed WinCE device from Toshiba and took away most of the function. They could easily add a Web browser and then be able to compete with things like iPhone and G-Phone.

- knmhb22, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4make it thinner, and get better software(seriously).
- OBKenobi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I got... actually, it was my cat--who I use for getting free stuff because he's the "CEO of a Fortune 500 corporation with annual revenue in excess of $100M", just got an offer for a free MP3 player for filling out a survey (about his Fortune 500 corporation). So it's not a complete impossibility. With the Zune selling so badly, MS may want to dump them through offers like this to increase marketshare.

Better, less bloated Zune software for windows
Better interface - OBKenobi, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Rename it, first of all.
- quikboy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I think the Zune got off on the wrong start, not just because it didn't really provide a whole lot over the iPod, or had really awful advertising, but because lots of people like to bash Microsoft, think Apple is always cool, and don't want to even consider that there are better players out there that can do more than the iPod.
I like both the iPod and the Zune. They're both great for their own reasons. I'm not going to go into how much the Zune is better at something or anything, but it really isn't that bad.
Here's my list of Zune features that I hope they'll implement in Zune 2.0. :
1. Reduce the size
2. More models
3. Get rid of yucky advertising
4. Zune software needs a ton of work
5. Should integrate with WMP 11 (which is by far better)
6. Get rid of DRM (or have option to) in Zune Marketplace
7. Get rid of Microsoft Points
8. Podcast support
9. Accept more format standards
10. Using Zune as a player when it's plugged into the PC
11. Delete function within Zune
12. Mac support
13. eBook + audiobook support
14. games
15. Gapless payback
16. Zune as external harddrive
17. bookmark feature
18. Performing other functions, even when the radio is on
19. FM tagging
20. More usefullness with WiFi
21. Equalizer manual option
22. FM recording an AM radio
23. resolution enhancements
24. More content in Marketplace (video, games)
25. back-lit Zune logo
26. Bluetooth, FM Transmitter
There's probably more, or I could make these reasons even more specific, but that's the gist. I posted this on my blog a while ago. - wackymacs, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Discontinue it or make it free. Maybe I'm dreaming.
- smackhero, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1remove its feature-crippling DRM and i'd go out and get one instantly. i don't mind that it doesn't look at sexy as an ipod. it's got a bigger screen and more features. personally i really like that it broadcasts a personal profile over wi-fi to other Zune users so you can see what people are listening to or watching. the wi-fi music sharing feature is also a great idea--they just butchered it in the execution by forcing DRM onto all shared music.
