- uoods, on 10/12/2007, -1/+25They must've cleverly hid the numpad beneath those windows logos.
- FuzzyLumpkins76, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17The 8000 proximity sensing backlighting makes it more impressive than the 7000. However, the 8000 is a bit too much ($250) for a keyboard and mouse for my tastes.
- Godmil, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17What happened to the up arrow?
- greenrider, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16If you're concerned about having an accident with your keyboard and you put "accident" in quotes, it really makes me worried about you. Maybe you should check out the Logitech SploogeGuard MX 5000.
- fallenone05, on 10/12/2007, -4/+18you sound like you're in an infomercial
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14I was kinda thinking the same thing.
I use the 10 key pad so much that I would *never* buy this thing. - Greyarea, on 10/12/2007, -5/+18Made to compliment Vista, eh? Does that mean it's expensive and offers nothing that hasn't been available from others for years?
(joking - I actually quite like MS hardware as a rule) - retral, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Although this keyboard was front paged a few days ago, this new 'article' has a better photo - I still can't get over badly that other 'review' showcased the keyboard with the abstract pictures.
- ayeroxor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Combine the new layout with non-touch-typeable function keys and you're in for a great time.
If you're 7. - jlboan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"What happened to the up arrow? "
Not only that, what happened to the numpad? I still use the numpad on my keyboard all the time, especially when working in a spreadsheet or something.
I've always liked Microsoft's hardware, but they always throw in some quirks with their keyboards, like F Lock, and apparently now the up arrow and the numpad. I just wish they would get rid of Caps Lock, nobody needs that anymore! - xamado, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6No, it's not easy to clean, so dont even think about jerking off over your keyboard! It wont take it!
- RpgActioN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Bart - Isn't it OLED?
Anyways, it's due out in two months. - Hickeroar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Yeah that's a bit excessive for a keyboard and mouse. I really like the looks of this setup though. As a split-keyboard user, I can definitely appreciate the "bent" keyboard idea. I might have to look into something like this if/when the price comes down.
- Braingoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Im still using the logitech G15 by far the best keyboard I have ever used. I know its not wireless but still great keyboard glad to see a lot more games now using its on board LCD.
- nuggetz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I bet you the keys feel mushy as hell. Perfect for noobs who don't know what tactical feedback is all about. You guys should check out the IBM Model M.
- binaryspiral, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Bluetooth just doesn't work well as a transport for mouse or keyboard control... it's bursty and susceptible to interference in the 2.4Ghz range.
Then again, maybe the newest bluetooth drivers have made improvements... I'm still not paying $150 to find out. :) - lpcustom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yeah, the Model M is all you need. Mine is a '93 model. It's 14 years old. That's twice the age of the average digger!
- cheesegrits, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3CNET gave it a 6.7 (out of 10):
The good: Media and cursor keyboard buttons make it easy to control your desktop from across the room.
The bad: Curved design adds little comfort and makes typing imprecise; keyboard doesn't grip your desk as well as it should.
The bottom line: Microsoft fits a number of useful features on to the keyboard in its new Wireless Entertainment Desktop 7000 set, but we're not sold. We'll give it credit for its easy-to-use media control buttons, but the keyboard lacks too much overall polish compared to competing products to earn a stronger recommendation. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9A lot of Americans don't "believe" in numbers or math, so maybe Microsoft decided to scrap the numpad.
- heffae, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3You have to love the fact that an original Model M weighs more than a computer, these things were built to last.
Why is it when ever I see a keyboard review they always miss the most important thing TYPING. Sure my Focus 2001 looks boring it just a beige rectangle with 101 keys on it. But I don't look at it I type on it and there is nothing to compare to an Alps switch (Focus) or a Buckling Spring (IBM) when it comes to typing. (Personally I like the monolith like look of the old Keyboards) - samdu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Not as swanky as the diNovo Edge.
- lpcustom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Model M > all
I could beat that keyboard to bits and pieces with my Model M and it would still work like a dream when I'm finished. - qaz111111, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Maybe they should quit making software....
- Funguar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3That feature already works if you have a Microsoft mouse and their "intellipoint" software.
- zmigliozzi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Slick but you can spend half the price and get the same functionality.
- DrivinWest, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3If they wanted to make it for Media Center use then they really should have been designed with an integrated trackpad.
"A click on the mouse’s scroll wheel displays large thumbnails of all the open windows." Sounds like Exposé. Regardless, MS does make pretty nice hardware... - TimDigg, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4MS makes like the best hardware
anyone who owns one of these

knows exactly what I'm talking about, it is the best mouse EVER made
edit: yes I said "EVER"...check it out - taphagreg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I wouldn't mind using that on my MacBook Pro.
Heh - mikehill33, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7Didn't this make the rounds last week on Engadget or gizmodo?
Either way, hella cool keyboard, and definitely a good competitor to some of the crap Logitech has been putting out.
Anyone ever use the DiNovo 1st gen? completely un-usable!
I have a Media Center and will be dropping the mario coins for this combo. - nipterink, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@timdigg: i used to feel the same way about wireless mice. the last one i had was not so responsive. but now i have the logitech cordless desktop mx3200, and it works like a dream.
- chrisblau, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I'm not sure I like how its kinda bent like those ergonomic keyboards... I could never get used to those.
Personally, I think I'll stick with my good ol' Logitech keyboard. - Langford, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I really really don't like that keyboard layout. I would never buy this. The only place it would be useful is hooked to a PC that only played movies or music. It would suck at work or games or anything else.
- TimDigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2eh....never liked the "laptop keyboard for PC" diNovo series
- heffae, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The Model M and the Focus 2001 are the finest Keyboards ever made. I still use the keyboard from my 486 and despite needing to be disassembled and cleaned every few years it's just as solid as the day I got it. (Of curse It looks odd with the AT to PS2 to USB adapters that are required to connect it)
- wrenchone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's the whole curved shape isn't it?
Someday Apple designers will rediscover their curve set. Until then, we make due with this. - ayeroxor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Perfect for noobs who don't know what tactical feedback is all about."
Tactical, tactile. Whatever. If you're Jack Bauer, I'm sure you're looking for both... - alwaysmc2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2offwithyourtv, doesn't the keyboard charge too? I mean, if you put rechargeable batteries in the keyboard, can't you charge them with the mouse-recharging pad?
- ahawks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'd be pretty drawn to this if it wasn't bluetooth, and wasn't so damn expensive. That is a pretty sexy keyboard/mouse combo.
I need a keyboard that will work with my bios, and my Linux dual-boot. And I kind of hate bluetooth. - offwithyourtv, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I just got this keyboard, and I like the slight curve to it. I hate normal ergonomic keyboards, but this is just like typing on a regular keyboard, only slightly more comfortable. I don't like the mouse, though. I still use my Logitech mouse. So far I there are only two things I really dislike about the keyboard - the lack of numpad, and only the mouse is rechargeable while the keyboard takes four AA batteries.
- pras128, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That mouse looks like MS murdered a Transformer. Is that you Bumble Bee?
- gotamd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1*drool* I want one.
- Daniel591992, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yes, this is spam. I own the NYTIMES....
*sighs* - CitizenKamb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just need the software actually, any old mouse will do. The function is kind of jarring though, no smooth visible transition of windows like Expose. And it makes the desktop one of the available windows, which is annoying. And no Hotcorners, the only viable way to actually invoke Expose.
So I'm basically saying don't judge Expose based on this subpar implementation. I can hardly live without it when done properly though. - badken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That keyboard sucks. No numeric keypad = no sale for me. And the non-functional function keys? Bleagh!
Not enough auxiliary buttons on the mouse, too.
Here's my next mouse:

(check out the sexah backlighting!)
Goes nicely with my keyboard:
http://www.amazon.com/Saitek-PZ30AU-Eclipse-Keyboard/dp/B0007TJ7TE - riplikethat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1HOT!
- nazsco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1$140 for a spiffy keyboard seems pretty good to me.
The only feature i envy is no keypad (less distance to grab the mouse) --and the non-ms option, the happy-hacking keybard, is 250 for a not-so-spiffy keyboard
and the extra i'd use a lot is the click-touch-pad. amazing idea.
...NOW, if it will only work with vista, then no !#$&*$ way!
...and i'd like a version with nothing but the 104keys, clickpad, windows button bellow space (i will map that for an extra ESC for vim) - mjfarina, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They've had this on the MSFT site for a year...the real question is when is it going to be released?
- offwithyourtv, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Weird...I didn't notice that it was missing in the picture. It is on the actual keyboard, though. I'm looking at it.
- arenas46, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this is a dupe-buried
- broo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Too bad it's bluetooth- that kills the ability to use it with a KVM switch...
I wonder if Sony will ever make a BlueTooth BluRay player? :o) -
