- MacMeMore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My new HP DV6000T laptop with a free Express Upgrade to Windows Vista™ from HP (Order placed with HP on 11/28/2006, 09:37:42 PST)
I placed my order for Vista upgrade the first day it became available. Midway of entering the info the site crashes, numerous try’s after I still cannot get the COA Validated.
My first call to Moduslink, I was told to wait 2 days and try again, Ok two days later the same thing, my second call to Moduslink I was told that my COA would be reset and would get an email confirming the COA reset in two days… a week later still no email so I decided to try to enter my info again…after waiting 10 + minutes for Moduslink site to load (10 + minutes per page with a cable modem) the same thing invalid COA number.
My third call and over 30 mins on hold I was told my COA was reset “try it again” waiting for the Moduslink site to load (some 10 + mins per page again)
I would get to the part to enter my COA number and the site crashed. Every day for over a week I tried again until about day 8 when a site was down and this disclaimer read “due to the recent Asia based earthquake which has caused a worldwide outage” on I went to the next day week, weeks…must have been one hell of an earthquake!
My fourth call to Moduslink, armed with all the above info and my fuse ready to blow! The nice Moduslink rep validated my COA number over the phone all I need to do is fax or email proof of purchase, piece of cake. With proof of purchase in hand and fax cover sheet with validated COA number ready to go, I faxed Moduslink on 1/16/07 a week later I checked the status and it read: “: Coa Validated. Waiting for Proof of Purchase.” On 2/11/07 with a new fax cover sheet and the proof of purchase I faxed them again, also two phone calls on hold for an hour with no help what so ever I sent this email:
“I just checked my order status for my Vista upgrade and it shows “Order Status : Coa Validated. Waiting for Proof of Purchase.” I faxed the upgrade number and proof of purchase on 1/16/07 and on 2/11/07 its been over a month and still shows proof of purchase? I waited over 30 days prior to that, numerous phone calls up to an hour on hold for someone to talk to, What seems to be the problem?? Do I need to contract HP on a refund on this computer if I’m not going to receive an upgrade? At this point I am very frustrated and what some answers!! If you could e-mail me back and let me know the status of the Vista upgrade. Please do it soon because I”m ready to ship this computer back!!”

As of 3/20/07 no Vista… the time I have invested and aggravation it would have been cheaper to buy Vista but I guess that’s what Microsoft would like.
By the way my new 24’ Apple iMac and me are doing just fine!
