- spudnic, on 10/12/2007, -3/+28Cool yeah, lets kill the man who donates more to charity than other other person on the planet.
- unibomber999, on 10/12/2007, -6/+31OMG, he's trying to sell the products of the company for which he is founder and CEO!!
- spatznick, on 10/12/2007, -5/+26Would that help anyone?
- ahhell, on 10/12/2007, -5/+16A Monkey in Space?
It's been done. - desistere, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12"Richest man in space.." Bill Gates is the richest man in the world. If he were to wipe his ass, he'd be the richest man to wipe his ass. Stupid title.
(BTW No one that rich wipes their own ass.) - Darcy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13Wow OBKenobi, you're such a nice person.
- BevansDesign, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I'm pretty sure that space agencies write their own OSes.
I know...I'm a killjoy. - there, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11If there is one thing the Russians do better than anyone (including the US) is build reliable spacecraft. Fortunately for Bill the spacecraft won't be depending on MS windows.
- mash8591, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9What is with all the windows bashin? I know im going to get dugg down for saying this but Nearly every computer is running a Microsoft peice of software. Be it, Windows, Office, Messenger or whatever. Virus and such are only written for Windows because everyone has it. I am currently running Vista Ultimate, with no virus protection or firewall - only my router and I am having no problems. Well, only one, and that with Command & Conqer 3. But that a whole different matter. (DAMN EA), Anyways - whist Linux is good its never going to replace Windows.
- SwellGuy007, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7@diggfight
WTF?? What does Bill Gates going into space have to do with being black in the ghetto? Bill Gates would survive in the ghetto just fine, he is after all the richest mafugger on the planet, I'm sure he would have friends REAL fast. He'd be like Mac Daddy Pimp Dawg and run the whole friggen place in a matter of hours.
You do know that black people are allowed in space too right? - gamesector, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7The richest man in space is Grok of the 7th nebula, everyone knows that, he's worth 567x Bill Gates. Buried as inaccurate.
- uberchaoslord, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Killing Gates would not cause MS to shut down. Travelling back in time and killing him however....
- rheaume, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Welcome to my block list you tard, Gates has created this industry, digg wouldnt be here, wed still be buying over priced ***** if Apple didnt have competition
- Mootabolife, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8If Gates were a pile of nuclear weapons, and Superman were real.. I might agree. For now I'll just take you as an ignorant prick who wanted first post.
- grve, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5no they got one of those crazy jpn mecha-toilets which licks your ass clean and dry :)
- blup3ace, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3of course, but they would be using pirated MS windows
- Grout58, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7OBkenobi you are a dick, just because he is the founder of a hugely successful company and lives for his company to do well you want him to die? He will probably ending up to be the single biggest philanthropist ever, and will have done more good in his life then you and the next 100 generations of your family could ever do. People are way too hard on the guy.
- Brodels, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/3428673.stm
- clesch, on 10/12/2007, -6/+8nuh-uh, I'd rather have that particular spaceshuttle run some embedded version of Windows ME.
- peter303, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Gates wont be the richest man in 2008.
Some other people near the top of Forbes richest list are
on a tear and will be at the top soom. Carlos Slim just
passed Bufet for #2 is withing 6% of Gates. - acdcfanbill, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I think he might notice it being a trip to the sun based on all the extra fuel and strange orbit he would be taking...
- mcnappy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Sorry for the lame reply, but this is what you made me do...
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha - chinadrum, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The strange direction diggfight turned this thread reminded me of this http://youtube.com/watch?v=PX_687HwX9c "NASSA The old negro space program"
- Kitsune818, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Wait, is that some sort of weird double negative? (draws flow chart)
- ladyarcher85, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Space is the next top tourist destination, for the can-affords :(
- Antha, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Reminds me of the old dude in the movie "Contact" who funds the second space ship trip for Jodie Foster.
- samnetwork, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Not true. NASA uses Linux on their Supercomputers, Red Hat on their Monitoring Computers and Windows on the Space Shuttles onboard Thinkpad Laptops.
Just watch NASA TV for a while and you'll see for yourself. - Rince, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1tsk tsk, the richest man in Space still is Zporxc6^*trlg@iiii@ooooohiiiiuuutrt the Magnificent and Increasingly Splendorous.
Lives about 150 Lightyears from here (go east, then go slightly left and up at the Blue star until you hit the two black holes, then go straight down until you hit his homeplanet)
Common knowledge. - pHr3ak3r, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Houston...yea this is really embarrassing...we got a bluescreen here...
- norris, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3So I guess Carlos Slim will be the richest man on earth.
- OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1
Killing Gates would not cause MS to shut down. Travelling back in time and killing him however....
Now that sounds like a plan.
I think he might notice it being a trip to the sun based on all the extra fuel and strange orbit he would be taking...
Maybe they could convince him that he needs to be sedated beforehand? - bitswapper, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3In space no one can hear your computer crash...
- aristotle0dude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@spudnic: That money is guilt money. But I have noticed that he does not seem to be giving any money to local charities that help the working poor and homeless. What would be even better than giving money to Africa would if he volunteered in a soup kitchen once a week.
- samnetwork, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2$ 100 000 000 - Average price to go to space.
- jsp317, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'd go in a freaking heart beat. 1 mill now 10 years later about a grand i wish. maybe one day.
- OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2
Gates wont be the richest man in 2008.
Especially not after MS stock tanks thanks to Vista, Zune, MS Live and all their other failed post-XP schemes. - HairyPoter, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1is the spaceship run by windoze?
- pbgswd, on 10/12/2007, -7/+7can he take ballmer with him?
- McTendo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Thanks! Now I know, and knowing is half the battle.
- sdoorex, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4Yeah, I mean it isn't like Steve Jobs doesn't do that type of thing with Apple. Wait....
- DigitalDud, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1It's so ***** cold in space though.
- waxpoetic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1smart move -- weak anti compete laws up there
- Kitsune818, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1You know, there was a time when it was so expensive to send men across the ocean to the new world from Europe only kings and queens could do it, and only a lucky few people were chosen to do it due to the cost.
If he can afford it and wants to do it, more power to him. - rheaume, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Wow, the truth! What a weird thing to see on Digg really
MS created this industry as we know it - hagbard72, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Bill's real plan:
http://www.jonhs.net/freemovies/star_wreck.htm - drmobutu, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I wouldn't go up on a Russian rocket, if they gave me all Bill Gate's money "when" I got back...
- nahsrocketeer75, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Day 2 of this nonsense and Microsoft is still mum about whether he's mulling a trip or not.
http://www.networkworld.com/community/?q=node/13847 - HyperJack, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Won't the spaceship be running some variation of Linux? The world's richest software engineer will be entrusting his life in a rival OS.
This won't make Bill happy at all. He will probably insist on equipping the Ship with Windows Vista Space Shuttle Edition - trer, on 10/12/2007, -12/+7If he's smart, he'd make sure that the shuttle computer system is running Linux. He wouldn't want to have a BSOD while in space.
- 47f0, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1Idle speculation... How much do you suppose the Russians would charge to keep him there? And could we work out a package deal to include Balmer?
Donations anyone? -
