- roebeet, on 12/24/2008, -7/+159It's all about the Add-ons....
- Nephersir7, on 12/24/2008, -7/+141Firefox, Opera and Chrome are the best browsers out there. IE is the worst on every category, and I'd rather use Chrome than Safari if Iwere to look for a sleek, minimalistic and fast browser,
- akaCHUCKTAYLORR, on 12/24/2008, -8/+125IE is dead technology... say hello to beta and the walkman for me IE
- elitesystem, on 12/24/2008, -23/+115i use opera... i believe both FF and opera is way better than IE!!
- PeterNorton, on 12/24/2008, -2/+87Seriously, it is just amazing to see what Mozilla has done in the past few years.
- agsinger, on 12/24/2008, -4/+83IE is a joke of a web browser...I can't believe even a single person uses it. Sorry MS, I'm a windows user all the way but face it, you guys need a better web browser. Or just nix IE and start embedding Firefox with windows.
- WriterSD, on 12/24/2008, -2/+74I finally switched from IE to Firefox this year. My only regret is that I didn't switch sooner.
- d0nkeym0nkey, on 12/24/2008, -6/+62IE has been a joke for quite a few years now. As a web developer I am glad to see it loose users.
- cesclaveria, on 12/24/2008, -3/+46I don't know what is sadder, you guys ore the 16 people that dugg you up.
Both Opera and Firefox are extremly good browsers, with strong points each. - celkin, on 12/24/2008, -1/+38*lose
- JanMarian, on 12/24/2008, -1/+37Browser usage share in Poland:
http://www.en.ranking.pl/index.php?page=Ranks:Rank ...
IE 48.7%
FF 42,5%
Opera 7,4%
World needs to catch up. - inactive, on 12/24/2008, -8/+43I like Firefox than any other browser.....Chrome is also good graphically
- PHLAK, on 12/24/2008, -1/+28I can't wait until 3.1 is released! It's going to be another big step for Firefox.
- PGPirate, on 12/24/2008, -0/+27If people at work had a choice in browsers, the IE number would be even lower. I hate having to use IE.
- Denominator88, on 12/24/2008, -2/+29Of course 2 out of 3 who leave IE go to Firefox, did you think they'd go to AOL Explorer? Seriously.
- MarkusX, on 12/24/2008, -2/+28Firefox is King. I love the Extensions they offer, they are awesome.
IE ist just old, and never got (much) better over the years. - HimThatSpeaks, on 12/24/2008, -3/+29Yeah, and the fact IE sucks and FF is a better browser.
- viaphone, on 12/24/2008, -5/+27Great news. IE sucks.
- celkin, on 12/24/2008, -2/+23Don't forget HD-DVD!
- fatas, on 12/24/2008, -2/+22maybe if you share those hot Polish babes we would
- lilmentor3, on 12/24/2008, -3/+22It's all about Adblock Plus....
FTFY - jerodmorris, on 12/24/2008, -3/+22This is one of best Christmas presents I could ever receive! As someone who manages blogs and websites for a lot of different companies, I hate it that sites always look like crap on IE, yet get 70% of their traffic from IE. Go firefox! IE can fall off the face of the earth as far as I'm concerned.
- inactive, on 12/24/2008, -2/+21Opera, Konquerer, Firefox, Chrome, Safari (for Mac), Camino, so long as people don't use Internet Explorer, I could care less which wins.
- inactive, on 12/24/2008, -4/+23Why do Digg users feel the need to express their extremely fanatical opinions about everything? I'm a Firefox user, and I think Opera is a pretty good browser. However, Firefox has more to offer, so that's why I stick with it, but that doesn't mean Opera "sucks". I've actually heard cases of Opera running much better on older computers, so there are good reasons to use Opera too.
- novemberdobby, on 12/24/2008, -8/+25Get out, troll.
- Hockey13, on 12/24/2008, -2/+19Chrome has minor compatibility issues here and there, but considering the history of browsers, a few minors issues is really pretty amazing seeing as how it just came out this year. Throw in faster browsing speed, (IMO) better splash page, better tab management, less clutter, etc....and it's right up there with, if not better than, Firefox. I suspect there are some issues with the HttpRequest object since asynchronous updating on some pages is glitchy or not functional. Consider the case of Yahoo Finance:
http://finance.yahoo.com
If you open it up in Firefox or IE, there are various AJAX functions that work properly, but in Chrome they don't. On the other hand, a large portion of companies still only make their b2b or internal sites IE-compatible, leaving Firefox, Chrome, Opera, etc. by the wayside. I encounter web design ignorance in many different forms on a daily basis working for a financial services company. - celkin, on 12/24/2008, -1/+17Ditto, but I switched from Netscape Navigator to Firefox :D
- ancientdinko, on 12/24/2008, -1/+172 out of 3 hackers still prefer IE though
- Nephersir7, on 12/24/2008, -0/+16MS knows Firefox is a superior browser. They just can't replace IE with Firefox.
- nolimitz, on 12/24/2008, -2/+17^wtf?
- UnpossibIe, on 12/24/2008, -3/+18At work I use IE and enforce it because it's corporate standard.
At home I use IE when I reinstall windows and need to get to the web to install Firefox. - misreto, on 12/24/2008, -2/+16I work at a college and they use IE 6! I am so disappointed. Don't tell but I install Firefox on them when I get on hehe.
- Pixelmator, on 12/24/2008, -0/+14+1, absolutely
- roxgod666, on 12/25/2008, -1/+14IE used technology?
- MavRevMatt, on 12/24/2008, -0/+13Exactly.
- soulonfire928, on 12/24/2008, -0/+11Yeah...chances are, if we're on the intertubes, we can read.
- barryprice, on 12/24/2008, -4/+15Only 2 out of 3?
Surely the bigger story is that some other browsers are picking up 1/3 of lost IE users? - vptel, on 12/24/2008, -6/+17HAs anyone else found since the lastest IE update that explorer is just too unstable.
Well i'm a firefox man now
Guess i'll go drink - celkin, on 12/24/2008, -1/+11Just a reminder: Firefox is awesome!
- MtheoryX, on 12/24/2008, -3/+12I'm on a Mac, so I don't really know much about Chrome...but the WebKit nightlies are blazing fast, and has benchmarks to prove it.
- comwiz7, on 12/24/2008, -1/+10more*
- lilmentor3, on 12/24/2008, -0/+9i wouldn't had know what AOL explorer was until I saw the POS on one of our user's desktop.
- stoanhart, on 12/24/2008, -1/+10No, but major websites should detect IE and display a prominent notice to switch to a different browser.
- adbo, on 12/24/2008, -2/+11IE isn't even on that graph.
- benitojuarez, on 12/24/2008, -2/+10What about 90% of corporate america thats forced to use ie due to IT policy detemined by those same geeks that use firefox at home. Don't be a dick. Anyone that blocks ANY browser is an *****.
- Flashypoo, on 12/24/2008, -0/+8If you use FF, you should already know about NoScript and ABP. Not to mention not being stupid and running an active firewall and antivirus.
IE users get targeted because they (usually) aren't good at keeping their computers up to date anyway. - Flashypoo, on 12/24/2008, -0/+8So true for so many.
- terenceyap7, on 12/25/2008, -1/+9Anything's better than IE8
- Zoshu, on 12/25/2008, -0/+8I didn't know you were being sarcastic until you said /sarcasm, thanks!
- stoanhart, on 12/25/2008, -0/+6@ben
Because websites have to be designed around your browser. For web developers, it can be really frustrating when you could build some advanced, intuitive, and innovative interface, but one piece of ***** browser which you have to support is holding you back and doubling your workload.
What's the hell is wrong about informing users that they are using vastly inferior technology, and multiple better products are available for free? -
