- LowROI, on 10/10/2007, -4/+94Bill, why did you need my username and password to prevent hotmail from getting shut down? I mean don't get me wrong I was glad to forward the email to all my friends, but I just figured that you'd have some type of spreadsheet that kept all that info.
PS I still never got that $182,000.00 - newstart, on 10/10/2007, -2/+89Bill what is your mothers maiden name? Or the first school you attended? Or the last four digits of your phone number? (Answer atleast one)

- str3ama, on 10/10/2007, -9/+65ok let's get the most important question out of the way: "You've accumulated a net worth in the billions, built up one of the largest software empires and most recently given a substantial amount to charity. But why the hell do insist on keeping that same horrible haircut?"
The thing about really rich people is they all seem to have horrible hair, Trump, Gates ...lol Branson. - KevenM, on 10/10/2007, -11/+60Mr. Gates, when can we expect a Kart style Halo themed racing title for XBox and PC?
- TheRascalKing, on 10/10/2007, -14/+59How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
Take your time, Mr. Gates. - pak314, on 10/10/2007, -2/+38Its not easy having lots of green...
- etcimon, on 10/10/2007, -4/+36The first question I'd ask is, why hasn't Microsoft ever tried to build computers and servers instead of just accessories? It would certainly be a big hit, and as there are apple fans that have everything apple, there would certainly be "everything microsoft" fans. What keeps them back?
- TheLD, on 10/10/2007, -6/+37I'm George Agdgdgwngo, I'm calling from bank. I believe you have a problem with your monies, all I need your bank account number and sort code and I will fix these issues
- pak314, on 10/10/2007, -1/+30Can money buy happiness? Can we ever be content with what we have does does it always lead to ever escalating desires for more?
- derek20cali, on 10/10/2007, -1/+26I'm sure diggers will be mature and not make the digg community look like a bunch of angsty teens.
- Pake, on 10/10/2007, -9/+33How long until Windows XP is allowed to have DirectX 10 and further DirectX versions?
- AndrewDB, on 01/10/2008, -1/+24I actually sent in a real good question: With the world going more and more Open Source for major applications, and Microsoft's stance with keeping Windows being a closed source code, I was wondering what your personal stance on Open Source software is.
- curios, on 10/10/2007, -3/+24Would you consider funding X-Prize competitions, like Google's Luna X-Prize?
- beerbarron, on 10/10/2007, -2/+22Dear Bill,
I work in education, and I must ask, why oh why do you charge huge licensing fee's, I understand you offer campus agreements, but we should not be charged for this. I truly believe that if you wish to stay within education, you need to re think your strategies. We have already adopted open office due to cost implications. Next it will be the operating system. Education is the start of your business, this is where you should be offering attractive offers! Or the children of the future will be using macs or linux.
Best wishes,
Andrew - vault, on 10/10/2007, -8/+27"everything microsoft" fans?
scary thought. - keyboardduder, on 10/10/2007, -14/+32Dear Bill,
The Microsoft Windows OS has been awesome to me. Its always being updated and patched for new threats, there is a slew of unique software used to entertain, produce, and export knowledge from it, and it has been a great system for newcomers. However, over the years, I feel Microsoft has lost it's touch with it's consumers. I feel that if Microsoft listened to it's customers more often, you wouldn't get so much scrutiny over little topics like vista and DX10, or the constant criticism you guys run into with customers and critics alike over little things like lawsuits and domain names. (remember mike roe?) I believe if you found a mid-point that showed you cared about customer's interests and maybe had a marketing campaign that told the truth about how you actually listen to your customers, you could have the best PR ever. Remember, thats how Apple got to be so infectious. They are the cute underdog with brilliant PR and advertising. To tell you the truth, i don't care for apple. Theres nothing special there. I can make a windows box that goes 2x faster than one of them for half the price. Beat that Apple lovers. But back to the point, I am a gamer. I received a free copy of vista business from my college and It is an uncomfortable atmosphere. It uses a lot of RAM and its hard to navigate comfortably. I am a computer technician who loves ease of use and familiarity with an OS. I use Ubuntu and XP and they are easy to keep track of things with. It seems that you guys threw everything around in vista and put different features in different categories and put DX10 in it as well as a few new features like "user content advisor" and "widgets". Once user content advisor is disabled it bothers me with a bubble in the corner too often for my patience. I love Windows XP and it's ease of use, I love gaming on it, and I love the software that has been written for it. Please port DX10 over to XP. Video card sales will soar, more windows games will be purchased, and your PR will skyrocket. "We have thought that the gaming public wouldn't have trouble switching over, but we were wrong, here is DX10 for XP. Game on guys". You would be praised until DX11 came out. I know its a marketing decision to make people switch to vista, and I know vista hasn't been what people expect it to be, but people will switch when they're ready. The only reason people pick up vista is because of OEM computers from retail chains. I got my copy for free and i plan on using it when it becomes industry standard. I plan on getting a DX10 video card when wither vista is completely standard, or if DX10 is ported to XP. Even software developers want DX10 for XP because their programming staff is more comfortable with that OS. Please Take what i said into consideration. I'm not the best writer and not the best at professional-sounding nomenclature, but I am passionate about what I care about and-I care about the experience that people get with the most popular OS in history, Windows XP. Please make it better for all of us. Vista will become standard and people will move their XP onto vista eventually, but until that happens, please port DX10 to XP. You would be praised.

- Nidy1, on 10/10/2007, -7/+24Almost as scary as everything apple fans.
- Atomic1fire, on 10/10/2007, -2/+18A monopoly suit likely
they get suid for putting vendors in a bad place
and besides they want to keep the contracts with the multiple vendors - chris9902, on 10/10/2007, -2/+17That's a question? I could start building a house with that wall.

That made me lol. - ekin09, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13I've read one maybe two comments that are legit... otherwise I'd say comments from "angsty teens" with little or no maturity is all you are going to see. "BILL can you GIVE ME MONIES!?! " "BILL WHAT OS DO YOU USE??? " "Billl will you buy me an iPhone?" "BILL I am from the bank give me your pin # and accounts" .. oh please...
- Izacus, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13Because those aren't DX10 games, they're DX9 games.

they're a software company, I doubt they care much about hardware.
Also, keep in mind Apple started off as Apple Computers. - sodascape, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8If you weren't rich, do you think you would have had sex by now?
- Pake, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8To say it's no compatible is laughable. It's not like DirectX is an entire operating system. It's a whole bunch of classes that only need some changes to work. Even then, if you don't want to give us DirectX 10, then make an equivalent.
- thepain353, on 10/10/2007, -6/+12dear Mr gates will following the great " success " of the "red ring of death" and "blue screen of death" will you making any new quality "...of death" "features"
- AndrewDB, on 01/10/2008, -0/+6It's more of a generalized statement saying "Bring out DX10 to XP."

- WhereAmI, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6I'm a gamer, and I hate Vista, and I hate people that like Vista. Due to college and my free time, I will just have to deal with not buying the Vista only games, something I don't mind.
- rockets, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Children of the future are already using Linux, thank you.

- EnterDaMatrix, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Eventually MS is gonna force the devs to use OpenGL if they want to make any money. Gamers hate Vista.
