- antiintel, on 08/18/2009, -0/+6I don't own (or want) a Mac, but Microsoft is leaving out a huge market by not supporting it. If you're on a Mac, pretty much your only choice is the iPod.
- MikeOSX, on 08/18/2009, -0/+4You think Apple would approve a Zune Marketplace app for the iPhone?
- andru, on 08/18/2009, -0/+3In complete agreement.
- CUBSWILLWIN, on 08/18/2009, -1/+4Peter, you got something going here. But after living with Microsoft for a few years, I'm doubting they'll listen...
- bigbadgoat, on 08/18/2009, -0/+2I was shopping for a new mp3 player about 6 months ago, and my main machine is a macbook. I was interested in the zune because I heard great things about the marketplace and the unlimited download service, but no OS X support means I couldn't even consider it. I ended up going with an iPod touch, but microsoft could have earned hundreds from me had they chose to support my OS of choice.
- Dalhectar, on 08/18/2009, -0/+2The only reason I would want a Zune would be for Zune Pass. I download more than 12 albums a year from pirate sources, and Zune Pass would allow me to be legit for a fee I'm willing to afford. Pay per download models for me aren't sustainable at a buck a song. But the ability to download songs that can be played across the local network, media center extenders, 360's, and a portable device would meet my usage requirement.
- Timan, on 08/18/2009, -0/+2Would love this, shame mac users are really limited to MP3 SOFTWARE and hardware. Zune pass... too damn nice (value).
- mblind, on 08/18/2009, -0/+2fingers crossed. Come MS make it happen!
- kr3mliyn, on 08/18/2009, -0/+2Just saw this on Twitter. I seriously doubt Microsoft will develop native support for the Zune (HD) in Mac OS X initially. Though it would be nice, Windows is still the dominant platform as far as the non-gadget obsessed consumers concerned. As lame as it may seem, I certain those of us who Digg or are on gdgt will find other ways of managing our Zunes on the Mac (e.g. Parallels).
- kr3mliyn, on 08/18/2009, -0/+2Of course they would. It in NO WAY duplicates any of the functions already present on the--oh wait, no. Nope.
It'd confuse iPhone/iPod touch owners. - panamajack, on 08/18/2009, -0/+1Nxusername, apparently the chipset in the iPhone 3GS has a built-in FM tuner. Software update, ala Bluetooth in the iPod touch?
Regardless, if you really care about those features (this iPod owner personally doesn't), you'd best be clamouring for MS to provide some better competition. - kelchm, on 08/18/2009, -0/+1Do it. Please make this happen MS, even if it is without Zune pass support, etc.
- Falldog, on 08/18/2009, -0/+1Wouldn't it be nice if Apple would let the Zune play nice with iTunes? Considering the way they've been handling the Pre and apps for the iPhone I doubt it'd ever happen.
- panamajack, on 08/18/2009, -0/+1Apple already "plays nice". Microsoft is free to write iTunes syncing software using it's XML file. That wouldn't make good business sense for Microsoft. Reaching out to Mac users, even if only symbolically, would increase Zune's mindshare and street cred.
- ConEEE, on 08/18/2009, -1/+1Where's Zune guy when you need him?!
- nxusername, on 08/18/2009, -1/+1Dear Apple,
Where the ***** is the built-in FM HD tuner for our iPods? Or - even better - why not use this opportunity to 1-Up the competition by rolling in a satellite tuner?
Sincerely,
iPod owners - shadowspawn, on 08/18/2009, -4/+2Macs are like prostitutes. They look good and perform well, but at the end of the day all you have is a lighter wallet.
