- starfighter01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3salgat, direct damn quote from the article:
"It is definitely faster than Windows XP. Sure, there was talk about the rumor mill before Vista’s launch that it would require a terabyte of RAM and slowly eat your processor, core by core, over the course of a few weeks, but I never really listened to any of that. My laptop has a 1.86 GHz Pentium M with 1 GB of RAM, and a 256 Mb graphics card, but what’s important is that Vista runs *faster* than XP. A lot of this has to do with the fact that aside from legacy compatibility, Vista is a new OS built from the ground up with a lot of optimizations that improve the user experience."
Speed is form? O RLY? - teckieee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3functions is quite impressive than you might imagine, i dunno how ill live by going back to xp now that ive been using vista's search function for like ALL the time. feels like a spoiled brat, u just get what you want and fast
- starfighter01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2boot sound: must be a driver issue.
start menu: revert it to the XP style (you didn't read the article huh?)
UAC: has its reasons. Vista has to cater to dumb users who get malicious programs on the computer without even realizing it. - starfighter01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2corevette: thanks for bringing the integrity of digg users down.
- gronne, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7I would bet money that most of the Vista bashers have never sat down and used it for more than 10 minutes. Is it a monumental change? No. But it does have some pretty great upgrades compared to XP and is well worth the money in my opinion.
- corevette, on 10/12/2007, -8/+9A happy Vista customer? Buried as inaccurate
- sirber, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4I tried it on someone's laptop (Vista Home Basic). Even the boot sound lags. I get annoyed by fullscreen popup (UAC) trying to install softwares.
Even the new start menu is POC. Too small, and I have too much softwares...
Best keep XP... - Salgat, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1So you liked the UI, congrats.
(form over function in other words)
