- chaos7, on 12/03/2007, -2/+53best windows xp fix i've found all year: http://neosmart.net/dl.php?id=10
- ut2k4king, on 12/03/2007, -7/+57Except, you know, it sucks, being one of the least standards compliant browsers out there. It's only widely used because it ships with the OS.
- inactive, on 12/03/2007, -2/+45LOL @ tubeblender's beliefs that mac users belong to some special subculture that is so wonderful and doesn't want mainstream america using their precious products. Douche.
- honus, on 12/03/2007, -2/+37How many times are people going to say "switch to linux?"
It's old hat, people. Some people can't switch. They're locked in because of software or business computer-bound restrictions. And honestly, Linux is getting there, and it can be faster and more stable, but there are times where you really have to know what you're doing to run it. Windows isn't like that. Yeah, it's not safe to have no idea what you're doing, but the learning curve isn't as steep because its one people already started on. - madm0nk, on 12/03/2007, -9/+44Sure I'll tell my boss at work that we need to switch everything to OS X and basically drive the costs through the roof so we can have an overrated operating system. For the most part windows (XP) works fine, but like anything else it has it's problems.

- inactive, on 12/03/2007, -2/+35To be fair, if they don't include IE, how can you download firefox? Catch 22
- ericdano, on 12/03/2007, -6/+38You'd think that people would know better. Internet Explorer is, out of the box, a huge risk to the average Joe.
- chrispeters, on 12/03/2007, -4/+35MORE idiots... So you're implying mac users are idiots? I'm a little confused here.
- l33tspam, on 12/03/2007, -1/+31You sure showed him.
- HunterTV, on 12/03/2007, -2/+30"People" don't know *****.
You can quote me on that. - inactive, on 12/03/2007, -7/+33or they can shut the ***** up because they aren't going to convince me to install their gay little OS just like vegetarians aren't going to convince me to stop eating wonderful steak.
- Dan000892, on 12/03/2007, -3/+29If I weren't digging you down for your dumbass comment, I'd be digging you down for your name. "tcpip4lyfe": are you ***** serious?
- Siegfriedson, on 12/03/2007, -5/+30There are four steps to take to get the most out of Windows XP.
1. Use msconfig or autoruns to disable as many startup items as possible.
2. Research the services that appear in services.msc and disable (or set to manual) all the services that aren't necessary for your computing situation.
3. Don't bog down your PC with McAfee or Symantec antivirus. I choose not to use a virus scanner, but if you don't trust yourself online, use AVG by Grisoft.
4. Run CCleaner and defrag regularly. I recommend using AusLogics Disk Defrag instead of the default defragging app in Windows.
However, as a former Windows user, I heartily recommend that users make the switch to a Linux distribution such as Ubuntu or PCLinuxOS. - tekiek, on 12/03/2007, -34/+55how many fanboys are going to post "install OSX"?
- Bishop256, on 12/03/2007, -5/+25wait dont people switch BECAUSE their idiots and need a computer that slowly eases them into turning it on and off?
- inactive, on 12/03/2007, -3/+20I guess you missed the other 40 posts that say exactly what you did? You're not funny. Eat *****.
- disgruntled, on 12/03/2007, -1/+18yeah its hidden in that mytical land known as the 'command prompt' Ill give you 3 guesses what the exe is named
- KungFuJesus, on 12/03/2007, -0/+15... dumbass
He is asking how he would do that WITHOUT A WEB BROWSER - gnarfel, on 12/03/2007, -0/+151) Use a proper configuration (im looking at you, out of the box apache.conf)
2) Serve static and dynamic content from different daemons, tuned appropriately.
3) Write your own scripts, and design caching systems into them
4) Assume, cockily, that you will be on digg.com or slashdot.org at some point, and plan accordingly.
shall i go on? - rabidmonkey1, on 12/03/2007, -2/+17http://www.duggmirror.com/microsoft/30_quick_fixes ...

Seriously, you'll be amazed what people will do to their computers in order to try getting free porn. Some browsers just make it easier to kill the computer than others. - bigsteve, on 12/03/2007, -0/+12Yea, phew, all 95% of 'em computer users.
But please, tell us about the 31337 OS you use. - ScotchInBox, on 12/03/2007, -1/+13ugh - type "XP Tweaks" in google and you'll find more than plenty of suggestions
- amirman, on 12/03/2007, -1/+12one of the only actually relevant and useful comments and look he even managed to fit in a linux promotion without sounding like a douchebag. thank you.
- praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -1/+12I think the browser developers are the lazy ones, here.

- inactive, on 12/03/2007, -0/+10Mac sucks. Get a PC instead. See what I did there? I totally just superseded your logic, using your logic!

Yes, I use a Mac. - inactive, on 12/03/2007, -6/+15Yeah, never seen an Apache/PHP/MySQL site lick the rug, because you know, using Linux automatically upgrades your bandwidth.
- inactive, on 12/03/2007, -1/+10I use Linux and support Linux, but I agree with your comment. Simply saying 'switch' is annoying.
- TheMidnight, on 12/03/2007, -3/+12#31. Make some retarded comment on a Digg story about Mac OS X or Ubuntu that you hope will convert thousands but will get buried into oblivion.
#32. Nerds don't let friends go to Geek Squad. - l33tspam, on 12/03/2007, -0/+9Tube, Why are you here if all you're going to do is bitch and moan at every single comment, you are not some super-intelligent guru that has the right to tell off every mac-fanboy or complainer...I have not seen ONE constructive comment out of you.
- inactive, on 12/03/2007, -3/+12While I do think there are better OS alternatives it is nice to see a compilation of useful tips.
- Philbert, on 12/03/2007, -0/+8That's what the "digg down" button is for. I disagree with your comment, I digg you down, I agree, I digg you up. If I have no opinion then I ignore.
- bigsteve, on 12/03/2007, -0/+8two hours ago. Say hi to the guy that said it while you're down in the negatives.
- cricketsymphony, on 12/03/2007, -0/+8i personally like tweakguides.com's tweaking companions for xp and vista (http://www.tweakguides.com/TGTC.html)
170+ page guides with a lot of good tips. useful to everyone to read over at least once. - gh0st3000, on 12/03/2007, -2/+10Are we ***** for not wanting mac fanboys to shove their OS down our throats?
