- bilbravo, on 11/05/2009, -15/+190This is the worst article ever. What idiot can't tell the difference between a pinned shortcut and a running application?
- Arock66, on 11/05/2009, -8/+180Nope, never had any of these and been running it for weeks.
- lnxfi, on 11/05/2009, -5/+98Crappy list. I don't see where it tells you how to fix annoying fanboy asshat wars.
- oboredone, on 11/05/2009, -6/+96I have to say I have been very satisfied with 7 so far. None of these issues, with the exception of the file extension one, has given me any grief.
- YmerejO42, on 11/05/2009, -7/+75Dig this one down, please, I hit Reply to someone's comment and instead it added it at the bottom. Thanks!
- dalepmay, on 11/05/2009, -2/+68"Problems"? Most of these are options. Just because some people might not like the default setting on something, doesn't make it a "problem".
- JumboJ3t, on 11/05/2009, -2/+50Meh... haven't had any of these "problems" and I've been running the RTM since my company got it from MSDN a couple months ago. Then again, no way in hell I'd ever upgrade from Vista. Clean install FTW.
- Snuff99, on 11/05/2009, -0/+46DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO!
- jrm125, on 11/05/2009, -0/+44Had the HP problem (even on clean install) but I'm blaming HP and their bloated, ***** software. I don't need a ***** Help Center or ink monitor or some ***** utility with 1 millionth the functionality of Photoshop (The Driver Only pack failed to install, so had to use the Full Pack). It's USB...it should just plug in and register as a printer and a scanner and be ***** done with it.
Also, the hidden extensions but that's all Windows and I'm used to having to fix that on install. I still don't understand why people can't get comfortable with extensions. They make total sense. - insanebrain, on 11/05/2009, -1/+40>Creative ...
There is your problem. - fadetoone, on 11/05/2009, -2/+39The file extension thing has been there since at least XP, and the fix is the same, as far as I know. You should have known better!
- Renark, on 11/05/2009, -0/+36Windows Key + left/right arrow
- beerhound, on 11/05/2009, -0/+33Amen brother. SB Live spelled backwards is evil bs
- rlaxton, on 11/05/2009, -0/+32same here, but been running for months
- geodebug, on 11/05/2009, -1/+31I'm a mac user and I'm burring you for being an ass.
- hammr, on 11/05/2009, -0/+29OMG Microsoft STOP HIDING FILE EXTENSIONS!! /minirant
- Frexxia, on 11/05/2009, -1/+26Why would you want to turn off ClearType?
- twiztidsinz, on 11/05/2009, -0/+20That looks HORRIBLE and is just a waste of space since it doesn't really center them, it just offsets them by a fixed amount.
- juliusthecat, on 11/05/2009, -1/+20That is just an issue with your computer. I just deleted a mkv without any problems. You know if a torrent program is seeding a file it typically won't let you delete the file.
- shnuffy, on 11/05/2009, -0/+18Seriously -- I don't need 4 applications to startup with Windows to let me know that 1)My paper is low, 2)My ink is low, 3)An application showing me where to buy HP products online, and 4)A suite of other, terrible, must-install-if-you-want-any-functionality-then-remove-them-one-by-one programs.
***** you HP, you used to be cool man. - blumathu, on 11/05/2009, -1/+16Prepare to be dugg up
- ducttape36, on 11/05/2009, -0/+15seriously, they make the ***** drivers ever. but i will say that I'm having better luck with my x-fi on 7 than i did on vista.
- str1fe, on 11/05/2009, -0/+15Your icons, they are the same!
- eqisow, on 11/05/2009, -1/+15I dugg you down not because I like Windows (I don't, really), but because you're walking around parroting commercials like you think it makes you sound smart.
- FritoPendejo, on 11/05/2009, -1/+15They are highlighted. Why do they need to be a different color?
- juliusthecat, on 11/05/2009, -1/+14Doing an upgrade over a clean install is never the best idea. Back up your important stuff and start over. When I tried the first beta release I did an upgrade from vista. It worked but ran ***** until I did a clean install. Clean install FTW!
- DJMattB241, on 11/05/2009, -0/+13virus.txt.exe
really? - madwh, on 11/05/2009, -0/+13How do I use aero snap on my left side of the screen if I have a second monitor to my left?
- juliusthecat, on 11/05/2009, -0/+12Obviously you've never tried 7.
- giyad, on 11/05/2009, -0/+12Vista only has a bad name because of the media... I've been using since the day it was released, I had maybe 3 driver issues, and those were fixed in a month.
Vista is underrated, but yeah Windows 7 is awesome, I just wish they'd pull a snow leopard and decrease the installation size to 6GB or less! - TylerDuhrdan, on 11/05/2009, -0/+11I had an issue with FireFox, Chrome, Safari, IE all crashing whenever I loaded a webpage with any kind of embedded video, YouTube, break, etc all crashed the browser. I got tired of it, did a fresh install and never had the issue again.
I agree the HP software is *****, just give me the drivers HP, I dont need your Bloatware. - juliusthecat, on 11/05/2009, -0/+11Maybe your monitor is just a POS. Maybe you need glasses. It is quite clear on mine. What the hell are you doing that requires 10 windows open anyway? If you want you can change the entire UI back to windows XP look with a couple of clicks. How is you not being willing to customize your computer that you use for 10 hours a day MS fault?
- dalepmay, on 11/05/2009, -0/+11I believe I did use the word MOST. I could be mistaken though. Let me check again....hmmmm.....yup, there it is.
- winmywii, on 11/05/2009, -0/+11I blame HP for most of the problems in my life.
- ducttape36, on 11/05/2009, -0/+11i recently ran into the hp printer problem. funny, it worked fine when i first installed it on windows 7, but then hp pushed some update out and now its acting funny. i blame hp more than ms though.
- FritoPendejo, on 11/05/2009, -5/+15It's not always immediately obvious when glancing at the taskbar. They seemed to have changed the highlighting on it a bit more in the final release though to make it more so, or maybe it's my imagination. The way I see it, it doesn't really matter whether it is already open or not. With tabbed browsers there's less of a need to open multiple copies of the same app. You're not wasting space by opening programs that you already have running.
- oboredone, on 11/05/2009, -3/+13I did know that already. It was still an annoyance though.
- Jarasmen, on 11/06/2009, -0/+10Congratulations on coming out of the closet. How's it working out for you?
- TylerDuhrdan, on 11/05/2009, -2/+12Yeah, mac just works huh, gotta edit a boot list to make it boot into 64bit. FAIL.
Apples new OS that brags about being 64bit, and yet you either need to edit a boot plist, or hold a few keys down. - TylerDuhrdan, on 11/05/2009, -4/+14Last time I checked, I dont have to hold down 6 and 4 to boot into 64bit with Windows.
- sHockz, on 11/05/2009, -0/+10i bet it also took about an hour and a half to install....i hate that stupid HP software suite with a passion. I have to install it for people here at my work all the time because they insist on it.
- jr2037, on 11/05/2009, -6/+15Creative Soundblaster drivers... anyone having the same problem?
- YuriSakazaki, on 11/05/2009, -0/+9The codec you use is locking the program when displaying the icon/thumbnail. Use a codec that doesn't do that (coreavc) or use an unlocker to delete. It happens in 2k, XP and Vista as well.
- jrm125, on 11/05/2009, -0/+9Actually it was a ridiculous hassle to get it to play nicely with my MacBook Pro on wireless.
Photosmart C4780
Macs aren't immune either. Just a different set of issues. This really all comes down to HP anyway. - exscind, on 11/05/2009, -2/+11Thanks juliuscat, I had no idea you can get [X] for free if you don't have a problem with stealing it at [Y].
- kyle212, on 11/05/2009, -1/+10I agree with what you're saying, hence, DUGG.
- Genma, on 11/05/2009, -0/+9what kind of ***** creates fixed width page layouts with the actual content taking up less width than the surrounding crap
- Entroper, on 11/05/2009, -0/+9Sounds like you need to tune it, since it may have the color order on your LCD backwards. I don't know if it works in Windows 7, but MS does have a free ClearType tuner app.
- tehhowch, on 11/05/2009, -1/+10Grandparents, of course. Or anyone else who runs every single application at once.
/s - Jektal, on 11/05/2009, -1/+10Yup.
