- schestowitz, on 10/10/2007, -1/+21Very cool addition to the *-look.org and *-files.org network of sites.
- AlexBellisBrown, on 10/10/2007, -1/+20Long live OpenOffice, Open Desktop, and Opened packets of crisps!
- stephenwq, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Have you heard of hosting costing money?
- neonpulse, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8I like the idea of CLI-Apps.org to balance out all the *-look.org sites.
- therightclique, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5you suck at writing and probably suck at linux. please hire a surrogate typist.
- cry0x, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6An excellent addition to one of the best open source communities on the internet.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Yes, we already have plenty of such sites, but this one combines them all, and gives space for categories that aren't big enough to require their own site. For example, I use and create IceWM and find most of themes on Freshmeat, a site clearly not designed for browsing, uploading and discussing themes.
- PatrickBrown, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4To cover its operational costs.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+6long live open legs,
- etandrib, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Probably, except the openDesktop version is poorly drawn. I'm always disappointed with Open Source logos. They always look like crap. Ubuntu is one of the only semi-good loho out there IMHO. If Open Source is serious on making it main stream they need to hire an ad agency and a real design team to promote and design their software. Enough of this copying and imitation crap lets see some real innovation and creativity come out of the Open Source community.
- Meep3D, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2If this actually works it will be a good thing. At the moment FOSS development seems dominated by programmers when a large part of software development is by other disciplines. The focus mainly on bug fixing with reports mainly through BugZilla and the 'if you want it, code it yourself' attitude has worked to exclude the graphic designers, usability people and the public in general from the development process. It's largely the reason why usability is a joke in FOSS projects*.
That being said I am not sure how effective this site will be. It doesn't really seem to know what it's goals are - I think it is trying to be/do too much - it seems to need more focus.
* The fact that your going to flame me to deny that there is any problem proves my point. There is _always_ room for improvement - if nobody discusses usability as it's 'fine' then no improvement is made. Welcome to years of GUI stagnation. - X111, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3From the bottom of the page:

And now a new aggregated news/google adsense portal to rule them all. Ehm, right, bury as lame. - felipe82, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1explore it a little with the menu on the left, it's not that hard
